Concerning SSJ3 and Half Saiyans.
I got in the LONG,LENGTHLY Arguement about this.
Is is possible for Half Saiyans to go past SSJ2? I beleave so, even if we havent seen it yet. This person i was speaking with kept saying that Half Saiyans CANT go past SSJ2. I mean come on, just cause we havent seen it dosent mean it CANT happen right?
Can someone please clear this up for me.

The fusion of the half Saiyans Goten and Trunks, Gotenks, made it to SSJ3.Tony93 wrote:I got in the LONG,LENGTHLY Arguement about this.

Though we never see it on them without fusion, or on Gohan, I think it's possible.
But remember, we can only go by what's been said in the series and the manga, you can't just assume something if it didn't happen officially. It's when people thought Pan turned into Super Saiyan later in the GT timeline, it was never officially said she did.

Yeah, if you take into account the notion that lightning isn't a necessary visual trait of Super Saiyan 2 in the anime, then he quite possibly did. I remember he powered up a second time after already transforming to Super Saiyan in the RoSaT (I think he also said "It's time to raise the stakes", possibly implying he was going to the next level), probably explaining why he did such a decent job against Buu at a level below Super Saiyan 3. Heck, Vegetto most likely went Super Saiyan 2 as well when he had to stop Super Buu from collapsing the universe around them, as he powered up quite noticeably while his hair appeared to be slightly more spiked/longer for the remainder of the battle. All this is pure speculation of course, I have no viable proof to back up my statements other than the fact lightning doesn't have to be present for SSJ2 all the time (as shown with Vegeta going up against Kid Buu) in the anime. As for the manga, I'm assuming if there isn't any wild lightning, then it isn't SSJ2.TriforceCaptre wrote:Gotenks? I'm pretty sure he went past SSJ1...in fact I know he did, I saw it happen.

The question was wether half saiyans can go beyond SSJ2. Gotenks did. So it doesn't matter wether or not we see him as an SSJ2.Conan the SSJ wrote:Yeah, if you take into account the notion that lightning isn't a necessary visual trait of Super Saiyan 2 in the anime, then he quite possibly did. *continues*TriforceCaptre wrote:Gotenks? Also, why would you think this? Its just speculation, nothing more.TriforceCaptre wrote:The question was wether half saiyans can go beyond SSJ2. Gotenks did. Nothing is ever mentioned about Half Saiya-Jin not being able to asccend to Super 3.

Don't ask me. I didn't make the topic and ask the question.Rory wrote:Also, why would you think this? Goten can not go to SSJ3 because he has not trained to be strong enough. Is he capable? presumably yes, why not? He's saiyajin. Gotenks is half saiyajin and half human that should be obvious.Tony93 wrote:This guy said somewhere in the manga goten said he couldnt go SSJ3. Gotenks cannot be a full-blooded Saiyan. Full blooded Saiyan all have black hair. Gotenks has black and purple hair. Therefore, he cannot be a full-blooded Saiyan.Tony93 wrote:This guy said somewhere in the manga goten said he couldnt go SSJ3. Eh, And he thinks that Gotenks counts a full saiyan. -.-
Actually. King Vegeta has Blue hair, not Black Hair, and the last time i checked, he is a Full Blooded Saiyan.Sedorna wrote:Full blooded Saiyan all have black hair. Gotenks has black and purple hair. Therefore, he cannot be a full-blooded Saiyan.

Toriyama indicated that Saiyans were only supposed to have black hair, but Toei went in a more colourful direction.Tony93 wrote:Actually. Sure it's not just the light? I seem to recall seeing him with brown hair once too. Though it doesn't matter. King Vegeta never appeared in the manga, and Vegeta said that all saiyans have black hair.Tony93 wrote:Actually. Out-of-Universe Explanation: Vegeta hadn't yet made the "black hair" comment in the manga when Toei first started animating Saiyans.
In-Universe Explanation: It's not always so much straight black as it is just always a super-dark shade of whatever. (Dark blue for Goku, dark brown-red for Vegeta, dark green for Broly, etc...)
Thar you go...

Good question. I know he was referenced once or twice, but I'm not sure if he was ever named.Tyro wrote:Off topic question: In the manga, was the king of the Saiya-jins ever specifically named Vegeta? Or was that just from the anime?

The anime might just have made that up. I remember hearing in the Anime vegeta was named after Planet vegeta, which makes no sense because he would just have been named after his father.SSj Kaboom wrote:Good question. Indeed, in the manga, as Nappa is handing the fight over to Vegeta, he states, "There's a reason he's named after the planet Vegeta itself......"Pieter wrote:The anime might just have made that up.
