A Dr. Slump character. He's the older brother of Peasuke I believe.

Not to sound like an ass, but why do you spell Nozawa, "Nazowa". The reason I'm asking is because I've seen you do it more than on several occasions. I'm pretty sure it's just a stupid mistake, but it just seems kinda weird to me. Again, not trying to catch you on a bad spot.

I've always spelled it as "Nazowa" to the best of my knowledge. If that's truly the incorrect spelling, then I'll revert to "Nozowa" from now on.

One of the main characters in Dr. Slump. Not a big role in DB (he was the cop that tried to arrest Blue), but definately noteworthy in general, since it's one of the key performances of Furukawa-san's career.
25th, 28th, and the GT episode 41 Budokai too. :D
Actually, it gets very complicated at this point. Utsumi Kenji's last DBZ performance was in episode 95 as Rikuum, although he shows up again to play Red in the 10th Anniversary Special.

Utsumi Kenji ~ DB: 21 - 148

Suzuoki Hirotaka ~ DBZ: 209 - 291 + Anoyo Announcer

Kishino Yukimasa ~ GT: 41 + Cell Games Announcer

I know it's a long, complicated list, but it's 100% accurate. I can support it with proof if necessary.

then I'll revert to "Nozowa" from now on.
Nozawa :P

Ryo Horikawa. His performance as Vejita was fucking brilliant. His ability to go from a calm, arrogant jackass to a raving, psychotic, homicidal bastard at the flip of a switch (and have it be believable and not too over the top) was something that I can truly admire. The role (in its entirety) required someone with a lot of range and Horikawa truly fit the bill. There is no other Vejita, in my mind.

Nothing against the other fine actors involved in the DragonBall trilogy, the show was obviously populated with many talented people who you will hear to this day. I'm just biased ;p

I haven't really heard enough of the Japanese VA's to comment on them but the best English ones would be...

- Scott McNeil (Original Piccolo/Jeice/Nappa)
- Brian Drummond (Original Vegeta)
- Sean Schemmel (Goku)
- Eric Vale (Future Trunks)
- Kyle Hebert (Adult Gohan)
- Stephanie Nadolny (Kid Gohan)
- Dameon Clarke (Cell)

Scott McNeil especially I thought was good. Loved his voices for Piccolo and Jeice. It was really awful when the voices changed and Jeice went from this cool British voice to this really irritating Australian one.

I was watching Scooby Doo 2 and I recognized Scott McNeil as the voice of the main villain cause he was using his Piccolo voice.

I was like IT'S PICCOLO!!!!

I'm one of the few people who actually really like Chris Sabat. I don't think he is awesome or anything, but he has a good range, and for being so overworked, I think he did a great job.

As for favorites. I liked Ian Corlett ( he is better than Sean Schemmel, but his complete inability to pronounce move names correctly down grades him, I mean come on, kamayahmayah, Kayo ken. Well maybe it wasn't his fault, maybe it was bad writers).

Actually none of the Goku voices have been that bad. I like Peter Kelamis also, I don't like Kirby Marrow though, way to intense sounding.

I think Brian Drummond was really good as Vegeta, And I think Chris Sabat really nailed the character by the Cell Saga. But too me, Drummond lost his touch for the character during the hiatus when he wasn't doing the voice anymore. His Buu and Cell Saga Vegeta sounds really out of place to me.

Scott McNeil was a very good Piccolo, I don't Mind Sabat's but it is just too growly.

Here is one no one will think of, I actually really like John Burgemer (sp?) as Tenshinhan. At first it was garbage, but he really turned it into something good.

The english voices of Kid Gohan I think have always been pretty good. And I have a soft spot for Sonny Strait's Krillin. Other than that, the rest have always been good enough for me.

BTW, Funi's Trunks is so far superior to Oceans, it's worth mentioning.

As for Japanese cast. I can't remember there names, But I always felt Goku (Masako Nozawa) and Vegeta (Ryo Horikawa) were excellently cast. And I saw the show in English first. All the japanese voices are good. Although I like Mr. Popo in English better. his Japanese voice is too, odd, for my taste.

Dameon Clarke (Cell) and Chuck Huber (Android 17, Garlic Jr.) are my favorite Funi voices.

Haven't heard much of the original Japanese version, but Freeza's Japanese voice is awesome.

Freeza's Japanese voice is awesome.
Yes it is. Easily one of my favourites.

Furukawa Toshio was really great as General Blue and Piccolo. It was such a nice difference from Piccolo Daimao's deep evil voice to Toshi's Ma Jr.

Given that I generally prefer to watch the show in English as opposed to Japanese, mainly because I'm accustomed to the English voices, I have still grown pretty fond of some of the original voices as well.

English voices:

Sean Schemmel- I think he does an excellent job as Goku overall. Lots of emotion packed into everything he says (in my opinion) and his ability to change his tone from carefree to serious really suits the character.

Stephanie Nadolny- I think her range as both Kid Goku, Kid Gohan and GT Goku are excellent. Kid Goku and Kid Gohan sound very similiar but there is a distinct difference between them. Likewise, her change in voice during the Cell Games, especially as SSJ2 Gohan was pretty impressive. As GT Goku, she managed to deliever a kid's vocal tone but keep an adult well...I guess "feel" would be the best way to describe it.

Sonny Strait- I like this voice as Krillin but I think the best performance was as Bardock. I loved how he managed to pack all that arrogance and anger into the lines.

Japanese Voices:

Miki Itou- I felt both the English and Japanese voices for Android 18 were awesome and hold them both in high regard. Took me a bit to get adjusted to the Japanese but felt it really captured her character.

Ryo Horikawa- As many have already said: Vegeta through and through. His range is awesome. Given Vegeta is such a complex character, it's hard to cover all the emotions that he pushes through but he covers them all.

Masako Nozawa- Though vastly different from the English Goku, I find this original voice still quite endearing. Her complete capture of Goku's character is to be admired and the emotion she can pack into a single word is amazing. (In my opinion, most notably in the Trunks Special)

Oh well I'm a moron apparantly, I completely skimmed over the Ocean Group! The ones I liked from back in the ol' days:

Scott McNiel as both Piccolo and Jeice, Brian Drummond, Paul Dobson doing a British accent which was fucking AWESOME, Richard Newman made a good Cap'n Ginyu, and while I didn't like him so much in the beginning, I appreciated the work Ian Corlett did for Goku (plus Megaman, Bob and Bill from Reboot and Sitting Ducks, respectively ;D). I like Sean Schemmel more in this day and age, but Ian was still good, and Peter Kelamis...well not so much with him, but the fact that he was Rolf in Ed, Edd & Eddy! makes it hilarious.

Vegeta: So Kakarrot, what're you going to do!?[/Drummond]

In my mind, no one can beat Kōhei Miyauchi the guy who did Roshi. Amazing voice, his "Kamehameha" would give me chills, and he switched between perverted and serious so well.

Nozawa is great too, the voice fits Goku unbelievably well. Dubwise my two favorites have to be Sean Schemmel who does a great Goku(preferrably later in the show, however, is when he really got the character down), and Sonny Strait's Krillin is pretty great too.

Favorite Japanese VAs:
1) Masako Nozawa: She managed to give distinctive tones to each of her characters. Kid Goku/Adult Goku has a rough, bumpkin-like manner of speech, Gohan always sounded intelligent and mild-mannered, & Goten sounded naive and cutesy like a little kid, even moreso than Kid Goku.

2) Ryusei Nakao: His threats actually sounded threatening, not overtly gay like in the dub; His ability to compliment someone while at the same time have a mocking, condescending tone was great, especially during his fight with the Z-Senshi. His screams are another notable performance, very lizard-like.

3) Norio Wakamoto: Cell's voice, 'Nuff said. I especially liked that "BLLLEEEEEHHH" monster thing he did as 1st-form Cell.

Honorable mention goes to: Ryo Horikawa. He has a much smoother, more "princely" voice, than Sabat, and can pull of a larger range of emotions. I like Sabat's Vegeta but he sounds "grrr...angry" in 90% of his lines.

Favorite English VAs:
1) Peter Kelamis: He's probably the most Masako Nozawa-like voice of Goku out of all the English voices. I actually thought his almost "surfer-dude" styled voice fit Goku's brash yet laidback personality very well. His screams (especially the ones in Movie 2) were very well-done and matches Ms. Nozawa's well. I wish he was still doing Goku... though I like Schemmel as well. Ian Corlett has a good speaking voice, but his Goku screams were flat and didn't convey a sense of intensity to me.

2) Chris Sabat: I think his Yamcha was perfect during the Cell-Buu arcs, and especially good in the DB dub. It's a more natural-sounding voice compared to his "rough" voices. His Vegeta improved greatly since the Freeza arc. His Buu arc, GT, and Saiyan-Namek arc redub voices are much more refined in terms of performance. It's a shame FUNi's scripts still make him do those constant grunts.

3) Dameon Clarke: His Cell voices were great, and he's definitely one of the best voices in the DB dubs. His voice for 2nd-form Cell sucked though. But he pulled off the monster for 1st-form Cell, and the more refined, yet arrogant tone for Perfect Cell. I also thought his voice for Gohan in the Trunks Special was pretty decent as well.

Honorable Mention goes to: Stephonie Nadolny. Her Kid Goku fits like a glove in DragonBall, and DB Movie 4. She doesn't pull off the hick (like Japanese Goku), but she pulls off the naivete side of Goku pretty well. Her GT Kid Goku is pretty good as well, considering she gives him a kid's voice, but her tone and delivery comes off as an adult. Not even Ms. Nozawa pulled that off in GT as Kid Goku.

In spite of FUNimation's wonky-ass script, I thought these folks pulled it off.

Much love to Mami Koyama. Even though she only did Arale & Lunch in Dragon Ball. I'd never guessed she was Eva in Monster. I just couldn't make the connection, but than again, I haven't heard much of her voice acting in her later age. Even so, it's amazing. Amazing how so many veteran seiyuu that have done Dragon Ball, then other ranges of anime.
