I think it may be the way you phrased the question that might have set off a few people. If it's a critique you were looking for than something like " What are you're gripes with super?" or "What don't you like about super and how could it be better?" or something along those lines, of which we've had a couple in the past.

The way the title of this topic is written can come off like "I hate super, who here by show of hands shares my opinion?"

Well I felt by stating my disliking of it upfront I was getting my own opinion out of the way and indeed most of the time I was on this site I saw people that would have one or two issues with things but never anyone profess that they thought the series as a whole is bad.

I had have my complains about some episodes or things that had happend in the arcs but that is not a reason to hate the show or define the whole show as "awful"
Couldn't agree more, this post feels like a mating call to haters, not to say they don't have the right to hate, they absoltely have, but I don't think this type of Topics should exist in a civilized forum because it could call the youtube comment section here, and nobody wants that. Oh and Happy New Year to every DB fan.
So when people talk about what they like in regards to this series, they're okay and the chance of disagreement is lowered but when it's the other way around with criticism being applied then there's an issue? I don't understand that. Part of what makes any community great is having diverse views. You have some people on here that will swear to you that the Boo Saga was great and the Cell Saga was awful; I feel the opposite way but wouldn't say there should be another place for them to go with their opposing opinions.

Is Super awful, that is up to you to decide. If you don't like something, it shouldn't matter if people agree with you.

People have been critical of Super since it started. Most of the posters here have made their grievances known about Super several times. The reasons why people don't talk about it much anymore because it's almost the same complaints without anything new. By this point, people who like and enjoy Super despite its flaws are happy to leave the people who hate it in peace.

I think the manga is awful, the anime is mediocre, even if it gets pretty insulting at times.

So, yes? Maybe? Half and half?

My newest complains are largely from the Future Trunks arc which didn't end that long ago so they are new.

I don't hate this series though. I have stated what I liked in the past including the filler or slice of life episodes and really that's what makes it so awful; that the main good thing about the show, which should be the overarching stories, are episodes that are largely to themselves.

Even your complaints about the Future Trunks Saga is well documented if you go to places like the episode discussing thread. None of your complaints are anything new, which is why I roll my eyes at the title of your thread since as another poster said, it reads like a standard circle of jerk thread.

And from I have observed from this forum and several others, the Future Trunks Saga is considered one of the best sagas in the franchise despite its flaws. You're welcome to like and dislike what you want since general opinion shouldn't sway your preference. Just be aware where most stand. Just like most don't agree with me that Cell was a boring villain and the entire Cell Saga was mediocre.

How that arc beats out all of DB and any of Z aside from the Garlic Jr. Saga befuddles me and I haven't heard anyone state nor indicate it was better than any arc in particular so that's a vague claim.

Also I didn't post in most of the episode threads relating to the arc so the thread's material is rather new.

Manga and anime is bad as whole right now.
Dragonball Super is actually a highlight among them.

If you are going to start comparing Super to other anime/manga it laughably falls apart. I know it's all opinion and shit, but come on! It is not that difficult to see that Super is not a well made show and the only reason it is still going on is cause it's part of a popular franchise of the "golden 80s-90s era" and it is making enough money for the production committee.

Super is without question a successful show. A profitable success for all parties involved, but I think quality is what's being considered here and out of all the anime I've watched in 2016 Super is the weakest.

I've seen few shows this season, but from the ones I've seen or taken a look at (Ajin, Flip Flappers, Pokémon Sun & Moon, Drifters and Keijo), they're incomparably worse than DBS. It's embarrassing the amount of absolute dogshit the industry is putting out these days.

I actually quite like Super. It has its problems, but it does feel like Dragon Ball to me (unlike GT). I mean to say, it sort of has that Toriyama touch.

I akin its quality to that of the DBZ movies. The better ones. Odd rushed pacing, Goku doesn't seem quite right, but entertaining. Where it differs is it's a little more original than the movies, which felt like rehashes of what was going on at the time in the manga or anime.

In any case, it's definitely not as bad as some make it out to be. The stories Toriyama writes are good, just feel like they need more of his involvement to shine. The animation/art has been bad here and there but it's not so bad anymore. Personally the strangest thing about Super is how it refuses to just acknowledge things like, Trunks suddenly having blue hair. Just not explaining that. Or not explaining a lot of other things. Sometimes it feels disjointed. But all in all I'm glad we have it. Because it continues to give us new things to be entertained by. And I do find it entertaining!

I felt the Battle of Gods arc (minus episodes 1 and 11) was bad. The music felt out of place in certain scenes (Gokus arrival) and just wasn't as good as it's movie counterpart. The animation often looked bad, and not to mention, it was just a stretched out version of a movie that I already felt dragged on in certain places. Not to mention, this arc removed things that were in the movie (Trunks and Mais relationship).

I felt the Resurrection of F' arc (minus episode 16 and any scenes with Champa and Vados) was one of the worst thing to ever come out of any of the Dragon Ball anime's. This arc took my favorite Dragon Ball movie and destroyed it. The soundtrack/music placement was inferior to the movie version. The art/animation on average, especially during the Goku vs Freeza portion, was atrocious, especially with episode 24 which in my opinion could pass for fan animation. Overall I felt this arc was a disgrace to the fans, to its movie counterpart, and to the entirety of Dragon Ball.

The U6 arc was ok. Nothing special, although I did really enjoy the stuff with Vegeta and Cabba, and the Hit stuff. Not to mention that whole SSJB kioken scene at the end of episode 39 was amazing!

I enjoyed episode 42. Super is generally really good at these SOL episodes.

I was indifferent to the copy Vegeta arc, although I like how it showed us what happens to Goku when he overuses the kioken mixed with SSJB.

The Goku Black/Future Trunks/Zamasu arc was hands down my favorite arc. Not just in Super, but in any Dragon Ball series. In retrospect it's hard to believe this arc is a part of the same series as the Resurrection 'F arc. I enjoyed almost every minute of this arc, from wondering who Black was, to Future Trunks spending time with Gohan and Vegeta, to seeing Zamasu's development, to almost every moment Goku, Vegeta and Future Trunks spent fighting Black and Future Zamasu in the future, to Vegitos return and Trunks getting the kill, and finally, what I felt to be a beautiful, bittersweet ending. Not to mention Sumitomo produced some truly amazing pieces for this arc. Sure, the way it handled time travel, SSJ Rage and Trunk's spirt sword requires some serious head canon, but thats not too big of a deal for me.

So far this filler SOL arc has been really good. Episode 68 was funny. Watching Vegeta get his ass kicked by Arale in episode 69 was priceless! Episode 70 is one of my favorite episode of Super, and I thought episodes 71 - 72, the Hit mini arc, was really good as well.

Overall, so far Super has 2 bad arcs, 1 adequate arc, 1 amazing arc and some truly great SOL/filler episodes. In my opinion, if Super continues on the path it has been with the most recent arc and SOL episodes, I see no reason why Super cant be remembered as a good, or even great show.

I felt that way about the FT Arc, too. In fact, it seems nonsensical to me that they made this story part of an episodic series. There wasn't enough there for an arc, so it ended up dragging for a huge portion of the episodes. On the other hand, there's a perfect amount of substance for a 2 hour-ish long movie, and it would have turned out prettier. I guess that's Super's biggest problem for me, every story so far still seems like it would have worked far better as a movie, even including the tournament.

Style [music and voice acting is top tier], direction [ the suspense of Zamasu was more entertaining than most] and action scenes are top notch when TOEI is on it's game.
That short Vegetto vs Zamasu was a scene of the year.

I thought the Zamasu arc was good until the last few episodes with Fusion Zamasu and then the ending which ruined the whole thing for me just because it left me wondering what the point was of this arc. Watch the good guys fail? It's the worst in my view in terms of pacing since the start was slow enough to make me think the arc would be 30 to 40 episodes and then it just speeds up out of nowhere when they go back to the future.

The filler's still the best and as I said the only thing I can consistently enjoy.

The industry also put out dogshit in the past. There's good stuff and bad stuff. The industry for the past few years for the most part has put out nothing but what the staff of that particular show likes which pisses off a lot of people in the Western fandom for some reason. But, it's understandable cause they are mostly disconnected from the industry. I think it's the "why are otaku getting what they want" that has been irritating them.

Late night TV anime has put out success after success only mostly cause of the staff loving what they do. Mob Psycho 100 and Hibike! Euphonium 2 this year come to mind. As far as I am concerned, they are the best anime of 2016. Undeniably there's been trash, but there's been gems too. Fans of mostly Sunday morning cartoons like Super and One Piece don't watch late night anime, so obviously they are going to think everything else is bad even though that's not the case.

As for the ones you mentioned, Keijo!!!! is by far the most entertaining and fun show. It is honest with what it is doing and even manages to create interesting battles. I can't say much about Ajin and Drifters cause I haven't seen them. Flip Flappers is a well-made show so disagree on that.

Sun and Moon is the prime example of the industry disconnect I mentioned. While the industry was full of praises for the novelty it brought to the franchise through its character designs and setup, the fandom started raging like it always does when someone tries to do something different from the norm. It is a fantastic cartoon and continues to go in the direction the staff likes.

Now, I'm not saying you have to like it as well. You can like whatever you want, but my point was that the intent of the creator is always ignored which is kind of sad.

i've spent far too much of my life (and earnings) pondering power levels, what makes characters tick, making sense of retcons/plot holes/inconsistencies etc. and just generally thinking about dragon ball but now i just don't care. From the exaggerated personalities, non sense, pointless, fluctuating power ups and power levels to the off putting, ugly extremely inconsistent art and animation that at it's absolute best (all 30 seconds of it) is still only broaching above mediocre there's nothing left for me to enjoy.

i don't care if 17 meets goku because which goku is he meeting? the retard who's stolen goku's body in super? i don't care if gohan's back in the fray because vital information (in a battle shonen) like 'how powerful is he compared to other characters?' 'what training has he endured which has restored/built upon his power?' won't be addressed and any moment any character can jump drastically in power just from screaming. That was once a satirically exaggerated mocking of Z, in super it's exactly what happens. A charaters entire multiverse including heaven can be wiped out and it's given two minutes of breathing time and barely any emotional weight as with a wave of the deus ex whis Trunks is off to a different timeline that's close enough to his own, meh to everyone he's ever known who's wiped from existence i guess.

I know there's a bit of a defense force on here who love super and defend it's flaws, or even deny they exist, calling super 'on par with z' or it's problems are 'nothing new'. I've even seen some suggest that super is better in both story and animation than one punch man and attack on titan! But the caliber of fan on here and the average western ten year old boy and nostalgic millenial who this show will soon be targeting are not one in the same. In a way i hope super doesn't do well in the west as it will demonstrate the kids today have some level of taste and aren't swayed entirely by brand recognition. It may even force toei/toriyama/whoever to put some more thought into the franchise as a story and animation.

sorry for the rant i lurk a lot don't post much and no one i know besides the missus watches super to entertain my rants.
This 100% other then attack on titan story lol.

Super is very mediocre, there is just no passion or love for the product from its creators. I only watch it because of the DB name....like above i dont post much but my GF and close friends have gotten rants about how awful i think the show is. I dont want to say others cant enjoy it as some clearly do! Its my personal opinion that I'm beyond dissapointed with the show and how its been handled.

I know the industry has always produced dogshit content, but each year there's more and more shows coming out, so there's more and more shit piling up. This isn't a fault exclusive to the anime industry, I'm aware. TV, cinema and other entertainment industries suffer from the same issue.

I was mostly talking about the writing, not the production. I don't care about the production as long as it's not distractingly bad. I don't mind Sun and Moon's animation, even if I do prefer the character designs of the previous series, but the writing is incredibly generic and, at times, even atrocious. Keijo and Flip Flappers I only saw one episode of, so I can't comment much on them, but Super's pilot episode was far superior. Drifters and Ajin are just complete messes all the way through.

Just because the creators are doing what they like doesn't mean the end result is going to be good. Toriyama is doing exactly what he wants with Dragon Ball right now but it doesn't mean that Super isn't a mess in terms of writing, be it in the anime or the manga versions.

I felt the Resurrection of F' arc was a disgrace to the fans, to its movie counterpart, and to the entirety of Dragon Ball.
It didn't explain why the Pilaf gang were younger and it didn't have Goku say he put his pride on the side to accept SsjG because Vegeta put his on the side to protect earth.

You have to give it credit for episode 27, it had Vegeta save Goku instead of waiting for him to die, he also got a better fight with Freeza, earth exploding was done a lot better & the arc didn't end right after the fight.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.
