The industry also put out dogshit in the past. There's good stuff and bad stuff. The industry for the past few years for the most part has put out nothing but what the staff of that particular show likes which pisses off a lot of people in the Western fandom for some reason. But, it's understandable cause they are mostly disconnected from the industry. I think it's the "why are otaku getting what they want" that has been irritating them.
Late night TV anime has put out success after success only mostly cause of the staff loving what they do.
Mob Psycho 100 and
Hibike! Euphonium 2 this year come to mind. As far as I am concerned, they are the best anime of 2016. Undeniably there's been trash, but there's been gems too. Fans of mostly Sunday morning cartoons like
Super and
One Piece don't watch late night anime, so obviously they are going to think everything else is bad even though that's not the case.
As for the ones you mentioned,
Keijo!!!! is by far the most entertaining and fun show. It is honest with what it is doing and even manages to create interesting battles. I can't say much about
Ajin and
Drifters cause I haven't seen them.
Flip Flappers is a well-made show so disagree on that.
Sun and Moon is the prime example of the industry disconnect I mentioned. While the industry was full of praises for the novelty it brought to the franchise through its character designs and setup, the fandom started raging like it always does when someone tries to do something different from the norm. It is a fantastic cartoon and continues to go in the direction the staff likes.
Now, I'm not saying you have to like it as well. You can like whatever you want, but my point was that the intent of the creator is always ignored which is kind of sad.
