Hypothetical casting question

Kind of weird hypothetical question, but you know how the old Donald Duck cartoons had Clarence Nash do his voice for the foreign versions as well as the English versions. If it were up to you guys and was possible, would you have kept the original Japanese cast of DB/DBZ to do the English version, albeit phonetically and accented? Know it sounds strange, but thought I'd ask as many love the original Japanese cast.

I would say that it would be tough, because of the long dialouges. You have to keep in mind that english is kinda hard for Japanese to pronounce. At least I think so.

I would have loved For Ryo Horikawa to do the English Vegeta. In fact, he showed off his English Vegeta skills at Anime Expo in 2005.

It's a nice idea....but seriously, unless the Japanese cast has very good English, it would just sound ridiculous. Even though we know the cast can sound great in their native language, heavy accents and weird inflections would ruin the effect. We would probably be laughing as hard as we do at things like the Malaysian English dub.

Umm...no. It wouldn't work. More specifically, Ms. Nozawa. She's a great veteran VA & all, but hearing her high-pitched Goku even with fluent english wouldn't work. After all high-pitched voices for a adult male in a cartoon isn't a norm in an American society as is in a Japanese one. Now if were talking about the original Dragon Ball when Goku was a child, then yes, I can see that happening.

I'd really like hearing Masako Nozawa do Goku in English. Though, like many have said (even a couple people in this thread), American audiences seem to prefer their leading males having more masculine voices, I'm sure she'd do fine.

Then again, it probably wouldn't be easy to teach her English, so this dream is a far off one.
