Walmart slipped up with 'The First Strike' Box set

Post by Supa Saiya-Jin Tullece » Sat Jun 16, 2007 8:24 am

I was reading a blurb about it on their site because I wanted to see if they had it (And I'm craving my movie 3. Tullece is my favorite movie villan because he kicks ass. Not to mention the only DVD release I own is Movie 8).
"DragonBall Z: Tree Of Might The Movie" - A seed of the Tree Of Might has been planted on Earth by a group of space pirates. Once rooted, the Tree Of Might will devour all life energy, leaving the land a deserted wasteland where no living thing can survive. Goku and friends try to destroy the tree, but their power is not enough. Suddenly, they are attacked by the evil space pirates, and Gohan is captured by Turtles, the evil leader of the group and a Saiyan! Turtles powers up by eating a piece of fruit from the tree and begins a ferocious assault on Goku. Will Goku be able to rescue his son, defeat Turtles, and save Earth?!
O.o

I died just a little bit on the inside...

(And by the way, what's a recomended DVD release to get the rest of the series/movies? I don't want to get the remastered box set if I don't have too, and I can't afford the DragonBox set).

Ha ha... Turtles. Someone should so put a scouter on my lil' buddy here.

By the way, I never realized how corny the plot outlines of the DBZ movies are when they are written out. Well I always realized it, I just never gave it too much thought.

You can always hunt down the already existing FUNimation R1 DVD's for the series, while importing a few missing episodes from either the Japanese R2 singles or the R2 quasi-remastered Spain DVD's. The movies, I believe are still widely available in uncut/subtitled glory. Some you can find in boxsets... DB movies 2-4; DBZ movies 1-3; DBZ movies 4-6 (kinda hard to find); and the three Broli movies.

Have fun and be cautious of what you are buying.

Well. You can check with your local Gamestop or Moviestop (I saw them building this where I live) to see if they have them used. For the ones that are hard to find, try ordering them from Madman. They'll at least be in English dubbed and subbed if you can't understand JP.

However since Madman's DVD are R4, they most likely wont play on your player unless you highlight >find a programable DVD player and hack the region code to play them. Make sure it has a PAL to NTSC converter built in so it will play on your T.V. if you are in America.<end highlight

Hope that helps :)

What's next? King Cold as King Cod?

I won't be able to keep up.

Well, I heard that Bardock was a brilliant scientist, and that he can still crush you like a grape in the palm of his hand, you understaaaaaaaand? I also hear lore that Dr. Gero is a candy ass fagot.

I can already hear Mike screaming in agony over this thread...not because of the typo, but the "image responses" you guys've cooked up. I have a feeling this'll be locked soon...

Is there any reason that the Walmart version is almost perfectly identical to the Big Green version? Well... I suppose they could've just copied and pasted, done spellcheck, and turned 'Turles' into 'Turtle'... :?

As a side note, Madman's current releases of the Ginyu to Saiyaman sagas are dub only. There will be no Japanese release of that portion of the series here until we get the season sets. >_>
