Room 29: Tullece Re-Auditions

Well, everyone, if you've been keeping up with the project, I'm sure you'll have noticed that, due to some unfortunate events, we've been left without several key Voice Actors. This is the Re-Auditions thread for the character of Tullece.

There have been several newcomers to the forum who have expressed interest in voice-acting for the project, but until now, all the spots have been filled. So this is a good opportunity for new people to get involved.

It'll work pretty much the same way as before with the Goku Re-Auditions, but for those of you who may be new, here's how it'll go down.

- Essentially, I'll post several lines for the character, along with some guidelines, and you record them the best you can in the character's voice. Then host them and post the links here.

- There should be nothing in your post except for a link to your audition file, and any quick comments YOU have about it. If you have anything else to say, or would like to comment or critique anyone else's auditions, then please do so in the project's main thread.

- I'll leave this up for a week. I'm making this post on Monday night, so I'll end it next... Tuesday. I'll review them all carefully, and probably pick someone not auditioning to help me decide.

Next, his character. Tullece is, for all intents and purposes, the "Anti-Goku." Or better yet, "Dark Goku." Or even better yet, "Kakarrot." See what I'm getting at? He's supposed to be what Goku would likely be as a REAL Saiyan, not some pansy earthling.

His voice is similar to Goku's. Masako Nozawa did them the same, in fact. However, Tullece is far more refined in his manner of speaking, and has lackeys that refer to him as Tullece-sama, so it's as if he's made himself royalty, even though he came from low-class blood.

That being said, the voice should be something of an almost child-like pitch and tone, like Goku's, except more regal and haughty. Tullece kicks ass, intends to be King of the universe, and he's gonna let everyone know it. If you think you should, use a SLIGHTLY lower pitch than you would for Goku, and add a VERY TEENY TINY SLIGHT rasp like that of . Don't overdo it on either count, though.

So now, here are the lines. These are not necessarily specific lines from the script; just ones I thought up for the character. You'll have to record yourself doing all of them. Take as many tries as you need to get it as good as you can.

"Impossible. This is where Kakarrot was sent, years ago..."

(Tullece in a serious mood. Not angry serious, more reflective, thinking and pensive serious. "Earth is still alive? I wonder why Kakarrot hasn't wiped it clean...")

"I'll give you one last chance, Kakarrot! Bow before me and serve me, and I'll spare your son!"

(Haughty, regal Tullece. Sure, this little punk Kakarrot has been resisting him. But he's a kind tyrant... sort of. He'll give Kakarrot one last chance to lick his boots...)

"We’ll freely roam the cosmos, destroying planets at our whim, and we’ll eat, drink, and take the best the universe has to offer!"

(Tullece being enthusiastic. He's trying to lure Gohan into joining him. Loud and happy-sounding, as if it's the best thing ever to be a lackey for him)

"What? A... a battle power of thirty thousand?!"

(Tullece has just scanned Goku, and he can't believe what his scouter is telling him. He's not really worried, or anything, just very surprised.)

"Why won't you stay DEAD?!?!"

(Piccolo is stubborn and not dying. Stubborn Namekian make Tullece angry! Tullece smash!)

Personally, I prefer the first one. (The second one was a result of Conan telling me I needed to be more masculine and less gruff.

Here's my audition, used a new tone for Tullece (as I suggested for Sato, less gruffy a voice and more calm masculine). My original gruffy voice for him can be heard here.

I would like to audition. I came up with this only in about ten minutes with experimenting, but for it being 2:21 am, it was the best I could do for the moment.

I think the main problem most people are having, besides low grade microphones/poor recording quality, is a lack of enthusiasm. Yell, Scream, make it real guys!

Telluce should definitely have a rasp in his voice, but how much I was unsure of. I did two takes, the only difference between them is the first is with my normal voice, the second is with a moderately heavy rasp.

Yes, I know I read the direction too. Telluce would totally do the whole monologue thing in his head all the time. He's so badass he even has his own theme song - that's not regular bgm in the movie, that's music coming from him. Noone says anything about it, because Telluce is too busy kicking their asses.

Hey, that was actually pretty good! I think your voice fits pretty well with the character, all you need is to pour in a little more emotion and I think you'd be great, imo.

As with my last audition, I'm rather last-minute here, so sorry about that. I know I'm already Kuririn, but I though I might as well try out for Tullece, and I think it ended up sounding alright (if not a little Ocean cast Vegeta-ish ^^; ).

Unfortunately, it was late at night when I made it, so I sound a little bit subdued (most noticeably on the last line; I can get angrier than that!). Ah well. Hope to see what you guys think of it.

I'm still looking for any non-auditioning volunteers who would like to help me decide who gets the role. Hopefully, I/we can get someone picked this weekend. Post in the main project thread if you're interested.
