Who's stronger: Goku or Gohan?

At the end of DBZ, who is stronger? I know that Mystic Gohan unlocked his potential, but does that make him the single strongest character in the series, as wiki and some other people are trying to lead me to believe ?

Now this is what I call great timing. I was just having an argument on gamefaqs of all places about this. I don't really care much about the argument, but I'd just like to know who's stronger, so I can be confident in what I say. Hopefully someone here can give me solid proof of who's stronger.

What is "Mystic"?

As far as the Manga goes, Gohan is definitely much, much stronger than Goku.

The Anime added some lines about Chibi Boo being the mightiest Majin so that screwed it all up in the Anime, so I have no idea who to think is the strongest as far as the show goes.

I know that Gohan is the strongest at the end of the Buu saga, but I think the question that mic and I want answered is who is the strongest at the end of DBZ, and by the end I mean the back cover of the last manga volume.

Personally, I think Goku is stronger at this point, but I don't have any proof to back it up.

"Mystic" Gohan is definitely much stronger than SSj3 Goku, despite him cheating again. Gohan smoked Super Buu, who was much stronger than Kid Buu, whom Goku was pretty much even with at SSj3.

Now a "Mystic Goku," THAT would have kicked some major ass from here to New Namek.

There's no way to know who was stronger 10 years after the fight with Boo. It's impossible to determine given the utter lack of information on anyones strength at that point. Why even bother thinking about it?

The only thing I noticed, is that Gohan retains the small physical changes he gained from having the Old Kaioshin unlock his power, so I assume he retained that state indefinitely, and it would take Goku more than a decade to bridge that gap doing normal training on Earth, along with being stronger than everyone except his son.

Wow, I agree with Duo on something again. This is such a rare occurance we should celebrate... or not.

Anyway, yeah. There's just no way in hell Goku could cross that gap in power in just 10 years. Even with Gohan comatose during that time (and thus losing power the entire time) he'd still not catch up. I'd say, at the 10 years later tournament, Goku is, at the most, on par with the likes of Super Buu. And even by GT I doubt he'd even be close enough to Mystic Gohan (when he fought Super Buu) to last more than two seconds.

Of course, I also feel that, at SSJ4, he's still not as powerful as Super Buu3. Possibly just short of Super Buu2, even.

Well, it is ridiculous, which is why the anime suggesting Kid Buu was the strongest has spawned so much discussion... it just doesn't make sense.

I posted the quotes and exact points they are spoken not even a month ago. Do you think we'd all sit here lying to you? There's nothing to gain from that. Do you think I like having the Anime say something I find completely wrong and absurd? I've been arguing with people about this subject endlessly for 3 years, and there's always more people who think Chibi Boo is the absolute strongest Villain in Z.

Yeah, this is one case where I basically throw the Anime's viewpoint out the window, because I cannot find any sense in Chibi Boo being the mightiest Majin. It goes against so much else we see beforehand that it would cause the plot to literally collapse within itself, cause a time paradox, and destroy the entire universe, along with all of us.

I remember the quotes that you put up was from Viz or the Dub version of the Anime. I was talking about the actual Japanese Anime transaltions.
