DB Open by Tokyo Brass Style

Post by Brakus » Mon Sep 03, 2007 2:00 am

It's been a while since I've posted here, but rest assured I've still been enjoying the Podcasts since Otakon. Anyway.... I just discovered this very neat find at YouTube - an all-women jazz-style band covered "Makafushigi Adventure" and did a very fine job with it. Check it out.

Wow, very nice!

It sorta has a nice latin feel to it( which is funny, considering no one there seems to be hispanic/latin)

I seriously doubt that a group as "pop-y" looking as them are actually playing those instruments, but if they are then all the better. An awesome take on an awesome song :D.

The track is available on their CD "Brass Style Tengoku", which just came out on August 8th. Catalog number is UCCJ-2059.

They look to me like they know how to play them. Besides, the Japanese always "cutify" everything. They just dressed them up and made sure they were physically appealing is all. It's called "marketing".

I'm... just... simply amazed by this... I even got a bit emotional there! :D

That's the group's only video on YouTube, are there any other jazzy anime tunes done by them?

They actually only do jazz covers of anime songs (reminds me of Animetal).

Thanks for the link, Ash... I really sucks that they don't have the track listings for them though. :( Nothing about them in Wikipedia, and when I search for them everything turns up in Japanese. Anyways, I'm eyeing that Ghibli CD! 0_0

Forget THAT, they covered the US Pokemon theme! First, it was Smosh.com. Could Tokyo Brass Style be the next Internet sensation? :)

In all seriousness, I like the titles they've covered, and it's gonna get me to buy the band's CDs eventually!

That's a typo on the Japanese page. Should be Lum's Love Song (Urusei Yatsura).
5) Love Score (?)
Love Squall (Lupin III)

And goddammit, now I have to buy these CDs. Amazing track listing right there.
