Just to make it clear: the reason there are anti-movie people here is because we know how badly this adaptation can go. I mean, they haven't been able to make a good English dub, and then all they have to do is translate and act.

But there won't be really a debate if everyone are pro for the movie?

I think everyone wants this to happen, but knows it will suck.

Does anyone here really not share that opinion?

I'd like to see some kind of indicator that it's not the Earth that we're living in as well. Maybe throw in some animal-people in the opening scene?

Also, has it ever been confirmed that 1) Fox is behind the making of the film and 2) the movie is going to be in English? Though, I guess Fox would have to be behind it, since it was previously mentioned that they renewed their URL for the movie (or something like that).

EDIT: (Geez, I stop for dinner only to have a couple more posts put up)

Yep, those are basically my thoughts on this in a nutshell.

Well, I'm sorry if I offended anyone in that last post. I understand everyone else's position, but... I'm really just still put off and a bit shocked at how pessimistic and unforgiving everyone is being about the whole deal.

I mean, it's not going to affect or change the manga or the anime in any way, it'll likely draw in new fans, it'll feature a new and different take on all the characters and stories we know (and hasn't everyone ben clamoring for new material in the games and such?), and most of all, FUNimation will likely have little or no involvement in it's development. So what if the story is condensed or slightly alterered? So what if minor characters are omitted or changed? It's not the series, it's something different altogether.

I think from this point forward, I'm just gonna sit back and not add to this discussion, save for when there's news or something.

I'm kinda worried about the hair actually.
Goku's primarily. But that's because it defies logic even in the manga itself!

Of course they're not going to try to make Goku's hair mimic it's 2D counterpart. It'd just look weird.

We'd rather 'hey, new villain' or 'hey, new play mode' - not 'hey, it's Brendan Fraser'.

Godo's avatar Image is exactly why I'm against the movie.

*Loves Brendan Fraser*.... absolutely NO Ben Affleck, Orlando Bloom, or Verne Troyer for this movie, or else!! Kinoko and I have already scared ourselves enough with those choices.

The cast will most likely be a bunch of new actors that can't act very well. I wouldn't get my hopes up for anyone we've ever heard of.

Hell, I wouldn't be too surprised if animal characters are ignored entirely and if Oolong and Puar are included, they'll probably be CGI DNA creations of Dr. Briefs. >_>

I know I'd love to see Michael Bailey Smith as Piccolo. If anyone's ever seen him as Belthazor on Charmed, ya' probably know why I do. That guy is just such a bad-ass when he wants to be, I could totally see him as Piccolo or Daimao, isn't like he's a big budget paid actor anyway. Regarding what they do with hair, I kinda expect they'll do something noticeable to it, though not too overboard-beyond-logic like Wolverine in the X-Men movies. I REALLY hope that Shia LaBeouf guy from Transformers isn't cast in any parts, I just don't like him for a variety of reasons. >>

I am looking forward to this, though I really hope since shooting is being done in Canada, the producers will take advantage of awesome sights and areas rather than just green-screen the whole thing to death.

The shots of those mountains in China on the last page are perfect for Mt. Paozu.

Well, Brendan Fraiser has a good body structure. With some bodybuilding he would be fine. And he can look jolly, innocent and angry like Goku can.

Martin Klebba is bald and short and has good muscular tone. That would do for Krillin.

Hugh Jackman was just a quick one I chose.

Cameron Diaz could play Bulma, nuff said.

It's better to have actors that can act than shitty acting. And fighting...there is not much advanced fighting in Dragonball, but if there is going to be it can be made with computers as it have been done for a long time now.

If the movie sucks, then it sucks. Either we watch the movie or we don't. Noone is forcing us.

Remember: The Live Action Super Mario Brothers movie sucked ass, but still it didn't lead to the downfall of the Super Mario Bros. concept.

Let's not presume that something that isn't really made yet is going to suck. Who knows. They may succeed with something for once.
We may get a surprise, either a good one or a bad one...
