Yes! That's what this^ little doo-dad is up here. I put the databooks under the list of stuff I wish could exist one day (including the first, as I would hope they could re-release it as the first of ten), as I simply do not see it happening any time soon. Maybe if Dark Horse got on it, but Viz would never let that happen. It's just as likely as Viz looking back at their 20 year old translation and spending the time and money not hiring Kanzenshuu's staff to rework all 42 volumes. ...sucks because the databooks already have valid translations right here on the site, too.
Thank you so much!

Welp, somehow I didn't know that after a brief period of time, normal users are unable to edit their posts. Guess I won't be adding those links in after all, darn it. If a moderator could help me out, I'd appreciate the assistance. More adept users could find the topics on their own anyway, but I just like to be thorough with my posts.

...boy, re-reading that 40-page topic was a blast. I had skimmed through it two years ago before Kei up and disappeared, but catching up on it now was a treat. To answer your question, simtek, it seems genjo reappeared to spiral the thread back into baseless, poorly-worded, double-posting accusations. It's a shame the thread had to end so pitifully, but this will lead to any major new development gaining it's own thread in the future.

A set hardcover, oversized, uncut, uncensored, faithfully reproduced, English-language volumes collecting the entire series.

That's all.

This, except for the oversized part. I like my manga tankobon-sized.

I'm primarily a fan and reader of American comics, so the tankobon have always been a little small for comfort to me. And compared to the premium comic editions I prefer, like DC's Absolute books which are almost twice as tall as a standard manga volume, they're downright shrimpy. The VizBigs are better but I'm really eager to get my hands on a set of Digest volumes which AFAIK are around the same size as a normal American comic.

I had never even considered hardcover... that would be swell. I could imagine the Kanzenban or Full Color releases looking gorgeous.

There actually are "library bound" versions of the Full Color manga, which I believe means they have a hard cover (pretty sure I've seen pictures of, too, although my memory's a bit hazy). I'm sure you could find them if you really wanted to. If they're not online, I'm sure you could contact Viz and ask about them.

Manga in English:
- Dragon Ball (VizBigs)
- Jaco the Galctic Patrolman
- Dragon Ball Super

I'm just a few VizBigs shy of completing the original run of the manga. I own Jaco. Super hasn't been released yet.

Anime with English subtitles:
- Dragon Ball (Dragon Box)
- Dragon Ball Z (Dragon Box)
- Dragon Ball GT (Dragon Box)

I own all of Funi's Z Dragon Boxes. I have the Blue Bricks and Green Bricks to replace the non-existent Funi DB and GT Dragon Boxes.

Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, and Dragon Ball GT on Blu-ray with Level set remastering, all previews (Looking at you Z episode 1), the GT master audio, and any tapes that Kei17, AnimeMauuko, and Egnimo (Does Egnimo have it or not?) give to Toei and FUNimation with Dragon Books. (English Dub is optional.)

Dragon Ball Kai, Kai TFC, Kai TFC Japanese version, and Super on Blu-ray with Dragon Books and Sub and Dub.

All the Movies on Blu-ray, Level Set remaster, 4:3 and 16:9 options, Master Audio, Dragon Books, and BoG/FnF Normal and Extended editions.

All the TV Specials, OVA's, and Video Game "Gaidens". Bardock and Trunks Specials, PtEtS, Goku Safety Shorts 1&2, Year-End and Summer Vacation Specials, PtEtSS, 2008 JSAT, and EoB. Throw in the Video Game openings as a Pre-Order Bonus for f***'s sake.

DBZ Budokai and Sparking! HD Collections, with JP score as an option for Sparking!

All the Currently released Video Games Burst Limit-present

Super Butoden 2 3DS Download

All 42 Volumes of the manga, in English, with a modern Viz translation, all the correct names, no censorship (Popo and Officer Black's Lips don't matter), with all the color chapters, all the title cards, in hardcover similar to the Viz DB Manga Collector's edition from a while ago.

All the Daizenshuu and Chozenshuu in English

The rest of Toriyama's manga, anime, or Video Games, translated or with subs. Dub doesn't matter for Dr. Slump

It's actually becoming increasingly popular among comic book fans to send their comics to be bound into hardcovers. They get pretty creative with it too, creating custom table-of-contents pages, designing cover art and compiling supplemental features. If you had the desire and the money the entire Kanzenban could be rebuilt into a set of books like this. It's something I've dreamed of having for years.

Dragon Box on Blu Ray with color correction, subs, audios: broadcast audio, , eng + Jap score (edited to include insert songs), Z has Jap + Faulconer, for everything - db, dbz , kai, dbgt, super, all movies and specials.

English versions of Kanzenban (but split like the tankobon into 42 volumes + tankobon art instead of Kanzenban).

Ultimate Daizenshuu, translated to english officialy - covering all material from all guide books (they look like the original Daizenshuu)

+ games, figures, and other merchandise just for fun (probably dragon balls, scouters, the dragon raider, etc...).

I wouldn't want anything else Dragon Ball related ever again.

  • All of Dragon Ball in physical Full Colour English, preferably without 1384 Piccolo dialogue
  • Dragon Ball Z Kai Raditz to Buu with a proper Kikuche treatment so I can watch a concise version of Z without throwing 20 years of my life to filler
  • DBZKai The Final Chapters in uncropped 4:3 without the Big Green Grade applied to it.
  • My DBKai T1C project on DVD with packaging that matches the above two (working on this one if all goes well! :D)
That's the base of it. Other good-to-haves include would include a Kai-d GT in the same vein as my T1C project, something I've been wanting to do but would require me to snap up another Dragon Box, heh.

Easy:
  • All of Dragon Ball, Z, and GT in 4:3, either digitally or in one big box set.
  • Dragon Ball Z using the broadcast audio for the Japanese audio track, cleaned up all nicely.
  • An option to use the pre-redub version of the Funimation dub of DBZ episodes 68-291.
  • A full version of Vic Mignogna's "Bit By Bit I'm Falling Under Your Spell"
Not so easy:
  • The original Toonami versions of "Episode 54" through "Episode 57" as a bonus feature.
  • A slightly revised version of the frankendub for audio that uses it: The only change is the inclusion of missing vocal effects and such that they screwed up on the first time around back in '07.
  • A second CD release of Ron Wasserman's DBZ music. (Containing stuff not on the first disc)
  • GT using Toei's untouched D2 masters for its Japanese audio track.
Difficult:
  • Dragon Ball using broadcast audio for the Japanese track, cleaned up all nicely.
  • A 4:3 HD transfer of Dragon Ball and GT from Toei's negatives.
  • The Pioneer dubs of movies 1-3 on all main releases of those three films.
  • All the movies in HD with 4:3 and 16:9 options for all of them.
  • A CD release of Akihito Tokunaga's music from Dragon Ball GT.
  • Plan To Eradicate The Saiyans '93 on a Funimation release.
Won't happen, ever:
  • A new box set of the Saban dub with remixed audio using any surviving multitrack tapes from Ocean, Saban, or Funimation's vaults to clean up the sound quality. Plus, a music-only option for every episode.
  • A box set of the Westwood and Blue Water dubs.
  • A box set of Ocean Kai.
  • A 4:3 HD transfer of Dragon Ball Z from Toei's negatives.
  • A box set of the entire Harmony Gold dub.
  • A 4:3 version of Boo Kai.
The point of Dragon Ball is to enjoy it. Never lose sight of that.

Wasn't GT's broadcast audio released in the spain release?

Also, even if Toei has the broadcast audio for Z that was somehow just mislabeled "which did happen with gt apparently" it would only be released under a blu-ray release that is if they ever release z on blu-ray.

Doesn't matter. Toei has the original, untouched master audio for GT sitting in their vaults on the D2 tape masters for the show. They could have used those for the Dragon Boxes, but they didn't realise it at the time. (They probably assumed the audio was as bad as the video is on those masters)
Spain, and a bunch of other places got the broadcast audio because they used copies of Toei's D2 masters, but for the best possible audio, Toei's original D2 masters should be transferred.
Daimo-Rukiri wrote:Also, even if Toei has the broadcast audio for Z that was somehow just mislabeled "which did happen with gt apparently" it would only be released under a blu-ray release that is if they ever release z on blu-ray.
The broadcast audio for Z is all in Chris Sabat's hands. If Toei start work on an official release, Sabat can get it to them; the only obstacle would be Toei's usual stubbornness.

As I say, GT has its master audio on the D2 masters, but Toei didn't use it because they didn't realise the audio was better. DB and Z aren't in that situation, as they weren't produced with D2 masters. The only high-quality audio Toei have that they've forgotten about is GT, and stereo mixes of a couple of the movies.
The point of Dragon Ball is to enjoy it. Never lose sight of that.
