Stevey, I need that banner, and one or two other things you might be able to give me. PM or I'm me once you get this.

Scratch this. I DO want voice samples. Both for my own records, and for something else I'm working on.SSj Kaboom wrote:As you may have concluded from this, I'm kind of past the idea of posting voice samples, since nobody, save of course for Ms. Chuquita, seems capable of taking 15 minutes to simply record and post 2 or 3 lines. As such, we'll just do this the old-fashioned-but-not way; actually talking to you, but through a chat program.
Stevey, I did fine without the banner for now.

Looks VERY nice, Stevey. But I'm afraid it might be a little too tall for most forums. Think you can rearrange things to be a bit more vertically squished together? About half of what it has now, height-wise.

Re: UPDATE
I was totally going to record some samples, or at least throw up the ones I have from a month ago. But then my squid-like power supply died.SSj Kaboom wrote: Desire, even if you don't think it's good, I'd still like to hear what you can do for Kaio anyway.

Yeah. So, if I can grab my roomie's pc for an hour or so, I'll do up some lines. Expect an update by Monday.
(é) Yeah, I'm famous. Super famous. I start things.

Hey guys, I've done another banner. I know it's a little too big, but I'm just testing something out: you can click on which 'side' you want to be on. I'm thinking each 'side' links to a different teaser trailer, with the main theme of that trailer either 'Protect' or 'Destroy'. You like?
Click on one.

Heh heh . . . it's a Transformers rip-off, but what does it matter? It's only gonna bring us more attention.
Kaboom, I'll focus on re-sizing these banners later . . . but I'd also like an approximate size, in cm/pixels. Thanks.

I'll send you a message Kaboom with my Skype name. I'm sorry this is taking so long heh.
Edit:
I'm just throwing some extra suggestions here. We seem to have made how many posters, trailers, banners, DVD covers. Shouldn't we hold out on these a little untill we actually start doing the dubbing of the actual movie? It's all taking a lot of time, and I know I'm partially to blame, but we are so far getting no where really.

Skype just doesn't work at all on my PC, it's old and rubbish sorry!
To be honest voice chats never really help with fan dubs, they create scheduling problems and make things a good deal awkward than they need to be. It's much better to grab a a few scenes and let voice actors practice acting while lip syncing, then crit on that and let them go.
I normally record quite a few times before I send and I will usually send 2 or 3 takes for each anyway. After that if the person dubbing needs it done differently I will go and do it again.

Re: UPDATE
Honestly, it's where it was a while ago. Which isn't to say that it's so far gone as to be thrown out; merely that it's on the verge of being completed, but won't be quite there yet until I revisit it. Unfortunately, "have a little more time on their hands" doesn't apply to me; I'm behind in schoolwork and work-work and have multiple deadlines looming over me. So, it's not easy for me to say "I can work on the VRG at x time" because these others things take precedence. I'd like to say this weekend, but it's not a sure bet. It's definitely on the map though, and when its status changes, I'll let everybody know.SSj Kaboom wrote:Next, Acid, how's the VRG looking? Yay, Nay, or "AAAAUGHDHKlolCSdkasukdh1as2f6sa87dsabj?" Please try to keep us updated and let us know if there's any way we can help.
BTW, my Skype handle is nuclearcookiefactory. Feel free to message me for whatever reason pertaining to the project when I'm online.
Keep in mind I came into the project a little later than the full year it's been going on. I believe I've seen some of your tests, but I had no idea they featured anything other than original music. Did you indicate your sources? As for the link in the PM, I got it but haven't gotten the chance to take a look at it yet.Steven Perry wrote:. . . I take it you never checked out my 'tests' that have been up on YouTube for nearly a year? Anyway, what did you think of the final 20 mins of the movie that I PMed you?
I know we've had similar discussions before, but I guess I'm just uneasy with bringing another layer of production into this, especially when it's A.) modifying the original feature unnecessarily and B.) "borrowing" from other works, which don't even relate to DBZ. Like, okay, I got it when it was meant to be a "signature thing" for us (as if our voices and translation weren't already?) but if the only creativity in the new music will be cross-fading all the different clips together, then what's the reason for doing it?

I'm not touching the original footage, if that's what you mean. We all agreed on that a long time ago.Acid_Reign wrote:I know we've had similar discussions before, but I guess I'm just uneasy with bringing another layer of production into this, especially when it's A.) modifying the original feature unnecessarily
Forget the 'signature' thing, I'm just trying to add emotion to the scenes and make it interesting to watch!Acid wrote:I know we've had similar discussions before, but I guess I'm just uneasy with bringing another layer of production into this, especially when it's A.) modifying the original feature unnecessarily and B.) Anyway, Acid, less talk and more action!!!

So hey, it's been 3 whole days since I made that update on the last page, and almost two days since I sent out the e-mail. So why has only ONE person sent me their Skype address?
I know I already have it for a few of you. If there's any reason why you don't think you're able to use it, then PM me, and I'll try to give you some lines to just record voice samples to instead. But either way, I. NEED. TO. HEAR. YOUR. VOICES. I want samples from everyone for my records, but I'd largely prefer to get on Skype so I/we can work with you to perfect your character voices directly and in real-time.
As for the sudden "problem" with Stevey's music... Um, what? I thought you guys realized he was fitting pre-arranged pieces for a while, now. I know I had. I certainly didn't think we'd be able to arrange our own music. Apologies for the confusion to anyone who came in late and didn't realize as such.
Apparently, RPGKing4 does claim to be capable of composing and synthesizing some BGM, but has disappeared after his initial post. Stevey, did he ever get in touch with you? Would you mind working with him to compose a piece or two if I get him signed on?
Also Stevey... that's a nice banner... but it's got to be the KAJILLIONth unique or varied design on a banner or poster we've had so far... We need to decide on just one or two of each, and get them FINISHED! It's up to you; pick which ones you want, and I'll help in whatever way I can to get them finished.
But again, in order for it to be truly complete, we need to fill these empty spots, namely still Shenlong and King Kai. So far, all I've gotten in either respect was one vote for omega for Shenlong, and unless anyone has anything to say to the contrary by this time tomorrow, it will be the winning vote.
Then there's King Kai. Okay, so we know Desire's dilemna, at least. Hope it works out. I'll give Helldog and P. Vegeta's another listen, and once Desire manages to get something out, we'll see what we can do from those three. But if ANYONE ELSE thinks they might be able to do a good voice for King Kai (it doesn't even HAVE to sound like that of the japanese or Schemmel's version... it doesn't matter! Just authoritative yet goofy!), then please do so.
Why am I retyping all this? It's just all the same stuff from the last page...

Yeah, if Skype isn't an option, that's fine. But in that case, PLEASE! I need voice samples! Pick a few lines out of the script, record them real quick, and get them posted! 15-20 minutes, tops! I've been saying this repeatedly for... who knows how long and have barely gotten anything. If this e-mail I just sent (everyone got it, right? The only recipient it couldn't go through to was Steven, for some odd reason or another) that links DIRECTLY to my update on the last page doesn't get everyone back here and get things rolling again, then... I quite honestly don't know WHAT I'm gonna do.Azure wrote:Skype just doesn't work at all on my PC, it's old and rubbish sorry!

Completely understood. I'm been scalp-high in other crap to do, myself. I'm going to TRY... scratch that, I've BEEN trying to get started on recording without it for the time being, though. At the very least, it'll be there for us to fall back on if there's any major problems.Acid_Reign wrote:Honestly, it's where it was a while ago. Sorry for dissapearing this weekend. I had a concert to go to, A friend in college to visit, and a boy scout campout I had to fill in on as an adult leader. So it has been crazy.SSj Kaboom wrote:

I am downloading some audio programs so I can start later tonight. I will try to get something to you on wednesday, thursday latest. (I have a photoshop project and a 7 page research paper due tuesday).
In regards to Stevens take on this:
So my music probly won't be used but I'll try to do my own version of that scene for y'all to hear.Steven Perry wrote:

Just posting to let you know I did get the mass e-mail. :3
I do have skype but have yet to get an account on it.
(Program's on my laptop, I'll make an account name tomorrow if we're going through with the group audio chat--whenever that may be).
And I don't need to do any more audio samples because I sent mine in pages ago, right?

Time to do my post, bullet-point style.
- I'll get the posters finished by today
- Kaboom, I'm liking how you're handling things, like a true leader!
- If all members don't respond by Wednesday, with a 'I'll be getting in those lines (or whatever they need to do) soon!', we should start threatening to . . . THROW THEM OFF the team.
That will get things moving! If they can't put in at least 20 mins to record, they shouldn't have been chosen for the role. If we do another project and have to hire voice actors, 'Commitment' should be a criteria high above the list (when considering who to chose) above voice-acting talent.
We should consider reforming the team, eh?

Some of us really are that damn busy, hell I'm balancing law school classes with a part-time job, and I'd imagine there are many others cast who are just as busy as myself. My current problem is I just need a new mic, I got that program Kaboom linked me a while ago installed. My monitor mic won't work anymore, so I can't even give any crappy-quality samples. Once I have a new mic, I'll give you guys some samples and PM my Skype name. And as for you Steven, yes, it kinda upsets me you'll basically be ripping other artists' works, because I thought the whole point of doing the music yourself was that you were making it uniquely for our fandub. We may as well just go with Acid editing together the Japanese BGM IMO, as throwing in random instrumentals and choir pieces (because you think they'll make it better) really isn't settling with me. The Japanese BGM is dramatic and fantastic enough on its own.

I put a lot of hard work into that video I sent you (which I'm not sure you've seen yet, as you haven't replied to me), but I guess I can't please everyone.

POSTERS

These babies are ready for distribution! The middle poster has the release date '01/01/08'. Is that okay?
It doesn't matter who gets Shenron, because both auditioner's names are already on the poster, for different roles. As for King Kai . . . well, I've already finished the posters, and don't want to mess about with them again. I guess we can leave King Kai's VA out; unless, of course, Desiré gets the role.Kaboom wrote:But again, in order for it to be truly complete, we need to fill these empty spots, namely still Shenlong and King Kai.
The credits would never be 'complete', anyway- because Tenken still hasn't given us his name.

All I need to do now is re-size these banners, and get two different-themed teaser trailers from Arcwave (if he's willing to do them) for the 'Protect' and 'Destroy' one at the bottom.
