If we do another project and have to hire voice actors, 'Commitment' should be a criteria high above the list (when considering who to chose) above voice-acting talent.

We should consider reforming the team, eh?
I really hope you're being sarcastic about that. -_-

Some of us really are that damn busy, hell I'm balancing law school classes with a part-time job, and I'd imagine there are many others cast who are just as busy as myself. My current problem is I just need a new mic, I got that program Kaboom linked me a while ago installed. My monitor mic won't work anymore, so I can't even give any crappy-quality samples. Once I have a new mic, I'll give you guys some samples and PM my Skype name. And as for you Steven, yes, it kinda upsets me you'll basically be ripping other artists' works, because I thought the whole point of doing the music yourself was that you were making it uniquely for our fandub. We may as well just go with Acid editing together the Japanese BGM IMO, as throwing in random instrumentals and choir pieces (because you think they'll make it better) really isn't settling with me. The Japanese BGM is dramatic and fantastic enough on its own.
Well, Stevey, that may be a LITTLE too drastic. I just want SOME word from everyone, and I'm trying to get it in the form of "I got Skype, I'll be able to get on with you soon." It's understandable that everyone has more important things to do, and the project HAS kinda been dragging on for a while now. Right now, I'm trying to prepare to record, and I need a little help form everyone to get organized for that.

Plus, I have another semi-related project that I'll need the voice samples for very soon in the future.

As for the music, well, everyone remembers that we ARE making a version with the original Japanese BGM too, right? In that case, I don't see why it really matters what Stevey puts together for the "orignal" BGM track. Heck, If RPGKing and he do manage to work together to compose something new, then all the better.
Mystic Jack wrote:Unfortunately I can't download skype... I'm using my parents work computer and program downloads aren't allowed and won't work. Sorry.. there's nothing I can do about it.
Understandable. Please try to get some samples recorded and posted, then. You're Cacao, right? He just says, "Da." That shouldn't be too hard...
Chuquita wrote:And I don't need to do any more audio samples because I sent mine in pages ago, right?
For now, nope, you're good with them. But please do try to get Skype so we can practice and perfect the voice.
The Lecherous Muten Roshi wrote:I totally dig the banners and posters, Steve.
Oh, so, SO seconded. Once he finished chopping the banners in half, we can start advertising this sucker.

For my last note, what's the consensus on the idea of picking a goal date? Sometime specific early next year sound good, like in February or something?

Yeah, I'd like to see the project released in January or February. Sounds good.
This means a faster pace than we've done before, but I think we can handle it.
We're soooo close!!!

February would be excellent. :3

This week I have mid-terms (and my sister's home for a fall break week) so I may or may not be able to chat this week.

Next week though I'll have no problem; I'll come up with/pm you my skype handle later on this week (tomorrow or Wednesday).

By the way, anyone know if skype accounts allow you to have spaces inbetween the names or not? You know like: Insert Skype Name Here VS InsertSkypeNameHere.
On hiatus.

I can't wait for you guys to finally finish the dub! (^_~)
And as for Skype names, I think you can use spaces. Pretty sure.

I think deadlines are a good idea. If only to get people motivated. I'm doing lines right now, but can't find the original audition thread so I'll be making stuff up. :P

Expect something within a couple hours.

-edit-
little update: one, I have Skype (guess what my username is), and OH MY GOD I JUST FUCKED UP MY MIC.

FUCK!

Shweet. I'll check out whatever you got in the morning, as I don't know about the rest of ya, but it's coming up on 1:30 AM for me.

Well so far, everyone's liking the idea of a February release date. We'll wait 'til we hear a bit more, but how about shooting for Valentine's Day? Kinda ironic for a DBZ movie, but that'd make it all the more interesting.

Up so late because I just got back from going to see Across the Universe. Neat movie. Makes me wonder if we shouldn't have done Dead Zone instead.

Ok, I have a very basic version of that 'goku is awake' song you wanted as a sample. If I knew what instruments were used it might have turned out better. The original is better, but I personally find the song boring myself. Does anyone have a preference on where I upload it?

Someplace easy to download from. Not sure what free spaces are good.

If you can't find anything decent, just email it to me, I can host it.

On another note. My microphone is busted. Remember kids, you are heavier than your mic - don't step on it.

I'd recommend using FileFront. It's been reliable for me so far.

Indeed. Still recording, but there's this hum now. And part of the little shirt-clip is inside it.

Just doing on more run through of the lines before uploading my audition.

And then ordering a new mic. From the same place I just ordered a psu from. Fuck.

Anyone else hear how AOL's firing 20% of their employees? I have a really bad feeling about tomorrow morning, considering my luck recently.

Fuck.

Not aud_2, that my old Telluce. About four minutes long, first three minutes is just talking and reading the script, at 3:14 there's a complete run-through.

I still don't think my voice is right, mainly for the pitch. Kaio should have a deep voice, and I just can't go that low believibly. Also, there's the difficulty I'm having with stress and tone, but that's just because I haven't practiced enough with the voice. If anyone wants I'll do a run-through with my normal voice for comparison's sake.

Pick a few lines out of the script, record them real quick, and get them posted! 15-20 minutes, tops! I've been saying this repeatedly for... who knows how long and have barely gotten anything. If this e-mail I just sent (everyone got it, right? The only recipient it couldn't go through to was Steven, for some odd reason or another) that links DIRECTLY to my update on the last page doesn't get everyone back here and get things rolling again, then... I quite honestly don't know WHAT I'm gonna do.
Uhh how about you * actually* said that? Instead of sending an e-mail telling me to read the thread. I just don't have time to read every post in a 80 page thread, and skimming doesn't help. We all have real life/work/school and I had no idea the script was done let alone I was supposed to be recording stuff from it, because every time I checked in there were 10 or so posts about signatures.
I imagine that's why response has been low, people get the email click and think " oh they are still discussing posters" and leave.

I suggest you get an e-mail out which tells people exactly what you need to do, lists the cast who have submitted files, links the script, and gives a deadline and summary of the status of the project.

I'll get my files recorded asap, I don't mean to nag but take it from someone who knows the easier and more organised you make things the more likely the production is to succeed!

The link I included in the e-mail pointed directly to my last update, not just the thread in general.

You can totally ignore my advice if you want it's your dub, I just don't want to see this project die ( remember the GT dub project anyone XD?!!) and wanted to offer the benefit of my experience.

It sounds lame but the simpler you make things the higher your reply rate. You may think it's lame if people can't keep up with the threads, but that's the interweb.
It's time to take your suggestions to the extreme, with the . . . Kaboom's Extreme Visual Deadline Guide!!! This'll simplify things, and make everything that's going on easier to grasp.

This month's KEVDG:

Image

We can stick in the deadlines for everything in here.

INFORMATION:

- When you submit voice samples, your name is crossed off the side
- Deadlines are written in the boxes
- When a day has passed, a diagonal line is passed through the date. If a deadline has not been met when that day is scratched out, the deadline is circled in red- indicating that it hasn't been met
- When a deadline is met, it is crossed out
- In order to have a visual representation of this month's progress in that 'percentage complete' bar, we must first determine all deadlines this month, and what percentage of completion it accounts for when met
- If there's many deadlines for one day and the writing can't fit in, I'll just make it animated
- I'll update this when progress is made, and when we determine deadlines. I've already made the KEVDGs for each month up 'till December, and I'll post them up when the new month starts (or if you want to add deadlines to the other months and get a perspective on how much time you've got  )

We need to put in deadlines for things like,

- the project
- when all voice actors should have their voice samples in
- Skype voice consultations for each VA
- choosing a Shenron
- choosing a Kaio
- when Mr. A's singing should be finished and practised
- when the Japanese and 'Original' BGM should be finished and added to the video, along with Mr. A's 'Head Cha La'
- when the teaser trailers should be finished
- adding sound effects to the video (a big challenge)
- when each VA's lines should be finished and ready for the final
- when the KEVRG should be finished
- when the Spanish and English subtitles should be done
- when the artwork should be finished and distributed
- when the DVDs should be finished (artwork, menus, subtitles, burning etc...)
- when the DVDs should be created
- when the DVDs should be distributed

There'll obviously be more, but that's just and idea.

If one of you doesn't meet the deadlines, you get your name written down on the black board for detention. You'll then have to go into Miss Kino's office for a spanking.

So, shall we make some decisions on what's gonna be done this month, and by when - so I can draw it on the board? :P

Oh wow, that's actually really professional! Your name's crossed out, and you deserve a shiny star! :D

EDIT:

I've added a ranking system to the KEVDG! This'll help the higher-ups keep track of who they think needs more work (either because they've got a crap mic and need to get a new one, or they need to improve their voice delivery):

Image
(Updated, 18/10/07)

1 Star: Umm... why did we hire you?
2 Star: Satisfactory
3 Star: Good
4 Star: Excellent
5 Star: Outstanding/ Professional

Lauren got 2 stars because the sound was . . . crumply. If that's a real word.

Hey guys, sorry about disappearing, I was in Las Vegas for a week and had no access to a computer. I guess I will get that skype program soon. Also, I find it funny that Kaboom always writes my user name as omegacw, not omegacwa.

As for King Kai, I can do a bunch of voices, and you guys can just select one if we are that desperate, as I can't decide on one I would want to use.

Hey, go for it. I'm desperate.

That'd make three roles for you then, since apparently you're our Shenlong now too.

Hey, err . . . Kaboom, will we be putting in some deadlines for the KEVDG, by arranging times with the cast that suit them most (given their busy schedules for other things)? We need to get all those names crossed, the KEVRG finished, and possibly we can discuss what time is best for each VA to start properly recoding?

And what's become of Marc Swint? Never heard from him. :?
