I've gotta say, the pictures of the movies look pretty damn cool! 8)

I wonder what "Dragonball Z: A New Look" is? :?
Next quest: Buy the Super: Broly and Super Hero Blurays, also Daima whenever that releases in the states. Also the Super Manga!

Fan of Dragon Ball Z and various other Anime since '98! ^^

I looked earlier, as I want to see how FUNi's first jump into HD is, but no go. I'll look after work, and reserve my judgement until then...

Impressive. Though I don't have a blue-ray so I won't be buying.

Not to sound harsh, but how is it impressive?

Probably explains their new remastering process, like the tech-trailer on the season sets.

Could you take some screen shots straight from the disc, not off of the TV?

I can't. The first post says that I am not the one who took these pictures. They are provided from a guy off the AVS forum which happen to get a copy of these movies early from FYE.

I know, I was asking Corey if he could do it, if he were to get his hands on the disc.

Does anyone know which audio is included with these?

Granted, I don't know how that guy's TV is set up, but holy crap, that is an ungodly brightness level. If I didn't know any better, I'd think shot of the pec beam (or whatever the hell that ability is) was just really bad lens flare.

Something seems strange about the shots of bloody Gokuu and the Vegeta shot, but I can't place it.

And it looks like that first action shot with the uppercut has some ghosting or frame bleeding or whatever you'd call that. You can see shadows of the previous frame(s?).

Before anyone gets upset and calls me a nitpicky elitist asshole or something, I'm just honestly curious if these were put through the same "restoration" process as the TV series, and if Steve Franko's claims of "BAD DOWN CONVERSION" were true. From here, it looks like more of the same, but I'd like to hear some more informed analyses.

Yeah, it's called ghosting. And the brightness thing, that could be the fact that these screen shots were taken with a digital camera off of a television screen.

*Sweatdrops* Why am I the one of the three who's called out? >_O The two posts above mine didn't think it looked that bad.

Well, alright. I think compared to Funi's widescreen sets the images in this movie re-release look much better then those sets judging by the screenshots. I see no bleeding through of one scene to the other--which is something that was a major turnoff about the orange boxes for me. I'm not saying it's perfect or anything. (Which it probably is not). :?

I don't expect Dragon Box quality from Funi, so my expectations of their releases since the orange boxes began has been dropped pretty low to begin with.
On hiatus.

I don't think they look too bad. A little bright, but that may be accentuated by the camera these shots were taken with. Otherwise, the colors look nice, clean and smooth to me. Widescreen is, of course, a non-issue with the movies. If an eventual movies box DVD release looks anything like this, then I'll be a happy camper.

That's because it's a picture of a TV. VLC Player lets you take screen shots if you get to download it. Anyway, can't really judge because it's of a TV playing the vid as opposed to an actual screen shot. By the way, I can tell you're playing it off a PS3 :P Reppin.

Do my eyes deceive me or is that some line fading like the Season Sets?
STEVE FRAAANKO!!!

Also... We're only going to be getting FUNi's same ol' Japanese track... I really doubt that they'd dump time and money into fixing it. If there's anything they should have asked Toei for that something is definitely some DragonBox audio for the Blu-ray releases.

That only works if you've got a Blu-ray drive for the computer. I doubt there's very many people who have those so there wont be any screencaps for a while.

Exactly, and those clock in at about $300. I'd snag one, but not just for this.

The best way to do screenshots would be to have an identical source feed the video to a screen capture card, and shoot lossless stills. I might be able to do this, but I still have to check tomorrow and see if I can even get this disc. Chris at AnimeonDVD has said some positive stuff though, so I'm definitely looking forward to watching these.

Looking forward to it. Can you grab some upscaled dbox stills for comparison? (Assuming your blu-ray player can upscale dvds)
