Since I'm a lazy bastard, I'll just link to my own news post from my own site about it.

Dragonball Z 1 and 2 Blue ray. And it say remastered, as well. I've already got DBZ movies 1-3 in funi's box set, so I don't give a damn...

I also see Dragonball GT "Season 1" set. Is this the Baby saga, or the "Lost Episodes"? I'm gonna get the "Lost Episodes" soon in the new box set anyway.
Next quest: Buy the Super: Broly and Super Hero Blurays, also Daima whenever that releases in the states. Also the Super Manga!

Fan of Dragon Ball Z and various other Anime since '98! ^^

Still no One Piece huh.... :?

Does Funimation really think that people are willing to buy the movies again even if they are "remastered"? I mean, I think that's triple dipping now with movies with DBZ movies 1 and 2.
Be grateful the filler in Dragon Ball doesn't suck like the 3rd arc of Rurouni Kenshin.

Just labeled 'Season 1'

I'd assume the lost episodes though.

This has me intrigued. Been meaning to collect GT as well, so I'll see how these turn out. Having the Dub w/ Japanese BGM would be a big plus, since the music was the only real part of the GT dub I didn't like.

Well, lets be clear, the labeling is JUST 'Season 1'

Any theorizing of being remastered is my own, based on past Funimation comments about them considering doing the other DB shows that way.

outside of 'Dragonball GT Season 1' anything else is just guessing.

I wouldn't be suprised if it was just the old encodes tossed on new disks with a higher episode to disc ratio.

In a way neither would I since the Brolly movies did not contain the original BGM. But then again this is Dragonball and Funimation will make awkward decisions.

And the current GT dvds are, as I've heard, pretty quality products, probably the best dragonball releases to date. Was that true?

Pretty much. Ya' just gotta ignore the dub entirely.

I don't think the dub, in-show/the acting, is all that bad - just don't watch the opening theme and ignore all BGM in the dub.

Who says he's gonna get it? If he already has the Dragon Box and Funi and Pioneer versions of the movie, then why get another one? :?

Precisely why I'm hoping these new ones are similar to the current Season Sets. Having the original Japanese BGM would actually make the dub enjoyable.

If they either don't have that option, or end up horrendously bad in some other way... Then I'll go ahead and get the already-available GT box sets as planned.

Just to be disgustingly hilarious, I will indeed pick up the remastered DVD if it actually comes out. Don't have a Blu-Ray player, so I'll pass on that... for now.

(1) Fansub
(2) FUNimation/Pioneer Dub VHS
(3) FUNimation/Pioneer Sub VHS
(4) FUNimation/Pioneer DVD
(5) FUNimation "Ultimate Uncut" DVD
(6) FUNimation "First Strike" Boxset
(7) Dragon Box
(8) German

Need to get myself the FUNimation/Pioneer LaserDisk, and DVDs from more countries.

To keep things on-topic to the original post, it seems like FUNimation's whoring out the DB franchise more today than they have since 2001, probably. It's frightening. And also terribly confusing to their customers. It's one thing for DBZ, but DBGT? There are still boxsets on shelves in stores of the entire series. People don't know what the bloody fuck to buy.

BLU-RAY!!!! YES!!!

*cough* I'm officially stoked! But why the hell is Shinobi coming out on HD-DVD? FUNi, you treacherous snakes!

So many questions arise regarding the new GT sets... You'd think they'd tackle the original DB first...

I think they are going to be releasing all the DBZ movies in this "Special Edition" format.
...Sheehan mentioned that the movies for Dragon Ball Z will be in special editions, and that they are working to get Dragon Ball Z on iTunes. He added that doing Dragon Ball DVD releases is harder, since the rights to the first 13 episodes are still not held by Funi. as a result, he had no plans to announce for Dragon Ball at the moment.
From ToonZones recap of the NYC Anime Festival...

...Need to get myself the FUNimation/Pioneer LaserDisk...
I actually have that Laser Disk framed in my room. :D

I think they're waiting to get the home video rights to the first 13 episodes before heading down that road.

GT dub remastered? What is this...slight curiosity coming over me? Is this...it can’t be...temptation?
