What? It's clearly an adaptation. A little more condensed than most, but overall, what little we know so far of the characters and story are pretty darn close.

...And for crying out frecking loud, can we PLEASE stop citing the stupid "high school factor" against it? We know next to nothing about it, and the odds of it being the focus of the movie or even anything but a mere unimportant backdrop is next to nonexistent, and I'm getting sick of hearing people whine about it, because it's continuously getting in the way of any real discussion or speculation. >_O; I mean, at least until we have more information about the story, can we try to be a little less cynical and pre-judgmental about it?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Krillin was a minor character in dragonball. Well, major enough to not be minor in a live action film.
You'd think that about Pilaf too.

You're right, they never said he was a replacement for ANYONE. He's a new character.

I guess I just got confused because of them defining him as Goku's "best friend" which is pretty much one of the first things I think of if I have to define Kuririn.
On hiatus.

They said he was Goku's school friend. Technically Krillin never attended School, so... I mean, they could have him be another martial artist training under Roshi.

I'm not complaining about condensing it, that would be fine. I'm pissed about changing the characters, the setting, and the sory. Everything else is fine, oh wait, there isn't anything else.

As Goku being in high school is one of the few things we know about the film, it's actually pretty important. Further - it's not just that Goku's in high school (though, that's clearly out of place for the character), it's all the things they've changed about his character. Insecure? Unpopular? Understands sex? Pursues Chichi?!

Using that logic, Teto's highschool friend "Goku" can't be Goku. :P

HIGH SCHOOL IS AN EXTREMELY SMALL PART OF THE MOVIE. That's not an opinion, I can promise you it is.

Here, JAPPO, let me help.
JAPPO wrote:HIGH SCHOOL IS AN EXTREMELY SMALL PART OF THE MOVIE.
Now THAT might get the point across to some people.

I hardly even care what people think about other parts of it any more. If I can just get THIS tidbit driven into people's skulls, then I'll be content.
Insecure?
Never stated. It said he's "considered uncool and unpopular." On that note...
Unpopular?
Because being a naive, awkward idiot with freakish superhuman strength and abilities couldn't possibly merit being unpopular. In the manga, Goku may be considered "cool" by his friends, but only because he's among other "freaks." Think of Videl's initial reactions to Gohan and Goten using ki. Or heck, ANY normal human civilian's reactions to their powers. It's all either "buuuh, it's a trick," or "what a freak."
Understands sex?
Again, never stated. We've been told a training session with Chi-Chi "heats up," but in all likeliness Chi-Chi's the instigator. Same with Mai.
Pursues Chichi?!
Same as above. It says Chi-Chi is his "lifelong love interest," but original Chi-Chi was already that, too. SHE was interested in HIM, but he was clueless.

Moving on, I still think Don Davis could do a good score. I enjoyed "The Matrix" sound track.

There really isn't a lot to discuss or speculate on in the first place. So, at least until we have more information about the story, can we try to be a little less naive and nonjudgmental about the opinions people have of things we already have information about?

If it bothers you that badly, make a topic called "DB LIVE ACTION THREAD: GOOD OPINIONS ONLY!!!!" or something like most people who can't handle the general fanboy negativity that follows nearly all live-action adaptions that are still currently in production.

Technically, officially, and on all counts; neither did Goku. :P
JAPPO wrote:HIGH SCHOOL IS AN EXTREMELY SMALL PART OF THE MOVIE. That's not an opinion, I can promise you it is.
Proof? Hell, it was made a point to mention Goku being in high school in nearly all descriptions of the character so far, as well as the screen-cap apparently taken onset. So it isn't like it'll just be some vague "School was fine today Grandpa" one-liner reference.
SSj Kaboom wrote:Same as above. It says Chi-Chi is his "lifelong love interest," but original Chi-Chi was already that, too. SHE was interested in HIM, but he was clueless.
Key word there, his. From the info we're given, I am and will always be under the assumption that James Wong essentially threw the nearest manga of DragonBall into a trash-can and simply studied the first Spiderman and Smallville DVDs he could get his hands on. Hence, Goku will most likely have the lovey-dovey attention span that Peter Parker would for Mary-Jane, or Smallville Clark Kent to Lana Lang (if not already a merged, kung-fu rip-off of the two anyhow). My assumption and I'm sticking with it till I'm sitting in a theater watching.

What conversations?, cant we just joke a little here?. Its not like we spent 2 or 3 pages off topic, we just made a few jokes in 2 or 3 posts in a almost 80-pages-long thread.

You are taking your job as an admin too seriously man. Let some of us have a bit of fun, or do you want this forum to become something boring?.

The other day a kid who was making an honest question was jumped on in a hostile way, and you were on of those who jumped on him, even you had the nerve to criticize his grammar, like if this was school or college, even without realizing if he was a native english speaker or not. And now this. Thats right, not all of us speak english as our main language.

Please no need to be like that. I know this is your website, and you can put any rule you want.

As a matter of fact you could ban me right now and I could give a shit, since there are many other forums with as much traffic and fans as this one. But I'm just saying you should stop acting like a hostile dictator or something.

I got a better idea, no need to reply me or just delete this post and just ban me now, because any elitist reply to this post I wont read since I'm not returning to this forum anymore.

Good bye and and you can do whatever you want with your website and forum. I'm not going to bother posting in a forum whose owner is a arrogant elitist.

Adios

LOL, I'll admit VegettoEX may be a bit strict with the rules and such at times, but here's the thing - it's his forums. He is God here, he is the Kami-sama. And if you piss him off, he will kill you. So, that's why you put your head between your knees and pray he doesn't maim you.

The serious point - they're his forums, he will do with them as he wishes. Leaving doesn't really make a point either.

Back on-topic, erm...has ANY new info come out yet? For like a month there was info every week, now we got nothing. :?

The attitudes of certain members that visit this forum really are a little hostile to be honest. I remember being commented upon in a harsh way just for agreeing with an older comment that this member made in this very thread.

Why can't we all just get along, and be a little more polite. Seriously.

Anyway, just a heads up for anybody who is interested in further discussion regarding the Dragonball film; Superherohype's forum has a Dragonball section up now.
