No he meant alien as in from another planet in the dub.
Extraterrestrial
means from another planet.
What about that weird conversation just after the Cell Games were announced. I can't remember fully, but Yamcha was all like "oh never heard about that". In any case, they made it seem that none of them had ever been in a tournament, I believe. Well at least they dumbed the whole thing down by the extreme!
EDIT: Just seen that again, but I think I remembered it being different when they broadcast it... well it must be just me :S

Er... rockets don't have to be warmed up. Spaceships aren't cars.

It wasn't really written by a rocket scientist.

It's true. They should have gotten Goku's father to write it.

There was on in the very begining of the Freeza saga. I was actually pissed off about. I don't really remeber what episode but it was somthing along the lines of Freeza actually telling Vegeta what happened to Planet Vegeta. In the FUNimation version though, Freeza insist Vegeta give him a count down to when he transforms... or something.... Does anyone know what I'am talking about?

Yes.I remember that. And Vegeta actually says "5,4,3,2,1".

No, I'm not inferring anything against you. I was inferring against Bulma.

Ah. I'm sorry Rocketman. ^^; That makes more sense. I mean knowing you. XD And yes, you may have a point there about her now that I think about it. XP

*gag*
I hate the fact that in the re-dub at the start of DBZ they talk about training under Karin for a few episodes (not Kami). Then later it switches to Kami like they never screwed up in the first place.
Get ready for some General Tao dialogue!!
Goku: "Look Vegeta! People popcorn!"
Vegeta: "What is he on?"

Well yeah, but that doesn't give the writers an excuse to shit all over the dialogue. "LOL WE ALREADY DID DBZ WHO CARES!!!!"
Gyt Kaliba wrote:Think about the edits Toonami required then - they couldn't explain that he was God and as such had divine powers probably.
...Which is why his position was always called "Guardian" instead of "God" in the dub. There's no reason they couldn't have said it was due to his powers as Earth's Guardian.

Wow. So many things I had no idea of...
Coming to dragonball gt, I was sure the funimation did the mistake in the Super 17 saga, without even seeing the original one. Funimation made it seem like both 17s were in Hell first, and the NEW one escaped (which had the coat on). But actually, the one with the coat is the original 17, and he was ALWAYS on Earth, while the one without coat is the new one, controlling the old one(with the coat) from HELL...isnt it?

Though I didn't really watch this, it sounds like something that happened on YYH on Toonami. In the original and uncut dub, an ep ends with Yusuke about to fire the Spirit Gun then the next one starts with the same action before that scene. The Toonami version for some odd reason made it sound like he missed and was trying over again.

Hmmm, something FUNimation missed? About 1/3 of the original film masters after their remastering machine of doom got hold of it.

Would changed lines that were in the Japanese because they were in the manga, and not quite right with the anime count as something missed?

Well, depends on the line actually...I think. I gave an example in my first post. Funimation just missed one line in my example, but it caused a fact to be missed.

What I meant was you know that line about all Saiyans having black hair wasn't in the dub. Most likely due to the anime nshowing that not exactly accurate.

Kendamu wrote:There were no parachutes. Tenshinhan can't spell or say his own name correctly. Taopaipai wasn't a general.
But Toei did approve them all: no parachutes, "Tee Enn", and Mercenary Tao. (We're going through this all over again with the English TV dub of One Piece, which Toei also approved-- thankfully, though, that particular dub is getting it right for the most part.)
I know that they're not "really" what they were called in Japanese. Then again, Dragonball itself refers to Journey to the West, and Dragonball changed a few things in there, too.
Bottom line: the changes made to the anime (or any anime series, for that matter), mostly to get the show on TV more than anything else, were done with complete approval of the Japanese. Just something to keep in mind as we pick apart the show yet again.

There'd be too much conflict between the artist and writter.

Depends on the propulsion system. You could have one that generates a small black hole in front of the craft, thus dragging the ship along (keeping the hole a constant distance away, of course),
and creating 'artificial' gravity that could be regulated by moving the hole closer or further from the ship.

The only thing that really irks me is how they changed Tapions Ocarina/flute/whatever theme in movie 13.
I mean...why?!

I never saw the American version, but it wouldn't suprise me if they changed it so an electric guitar solo came out of his ocarina.
