Looks to sync, sounds like it was meant to sync. My views, it was meant to sync. However, I still feel that even that music doesn't really match the scene very well.

I don't get it. What am I listening for? It's music made for the dub. I don't see any coincidences.

Wasn't this played when Goku was gonna transport Cell before he blew up?

It's not the piece that played in the dub though. This piece syncs to the onscreen cues and action showing it was likely meant to be used there and was passed over for whatever reason.

Personally, I prefer the piece they did use, but meh.

That music was played after Buu was destroyed. Fit there, but feels weird there.

I'm confused...
... Though I hear what sounds like the "heroic Trunks" melody in there... but it's a clip from somewhere else.
Yeah, still confused.

They just put different music there rather than what was used. Similarily, I've seen videos of Nappa's death with "Ginyu Transformation" playing.

Like I said, the title is "Freeza's Death" from Volume II of Faulconer's soundtracks. This is the ORIGINAL sync for that scene, but FUNimation rejected it during post production and wanted Bruce to add a more lively metal tune (this is all speculation, but it's good)

I mean, this really isn't a big deal, but it caught me by surprise when I started listening to it. That is also the Heroic Trunks theme which was never used in the series except for when Goku blows up with Cell. Now that is weird to me... something must have been going on production-wise...

Also, I am a film editor, and everything in that piece lines up with the cuts during the Trunks/Freeza scene. My verdict is out, FUNimation loses; I think they should have kept it IMO.

It was used toward the end here as well:

Personally I prefer it to that choral sound that was happening in Japanese, that I thought was sappy.

Which is further proof "Freeza's Death" was used. 8)

Yeah, there was once a "Trunks Theme". You can hear it several places:

Heroic Trunks
Episodic Trunks
Frieza's Death

I probably shouldn't delve into details....but I think it's already pretty clear by the track names and the preview movie that we had a different idea on how to score the Trunks Saga originally.

There's a lot of "Trunks" labeled pieces out there...hehe

Hm, Interesting. The melody only sounds good if it's continous, as heard from the trailer. I always found it odd how the dub never got to use that track.

The track used in the trailer was really cool back when it first heard it. I must've played the trailer video on my computer like 100 times in the background while doing other things.

There are only a few dub tracks that I absolutely hate. There are a lot that I can tolerate. But, there are very few that I actually like and the Trunks trailer music was one of them.

Too bad I never got to hear that music in the series (at least as it is in the trailer).

I was really fond of the Trunks theme as well... :P

The first time I saw Destruction matched to the Trunks footage....I doubled over laughing cause it was so ridiculous...

(I was the guitar player for all the tracks in discussion btw)

A lot of the music seems to have been composed for certain scenes. There's a scene where Super Vegeta is fighting Cell and they are just starring at each other. I know the music was the normal version of whatever it was, and it synced up when Vegeta moved his eyes. It happens a lot.

How much of the music did Faulconer actually do?
