Yeah, massive post! This really took forever to write up, hopefully ya' all get some entertaining appreciation outta it. To say the least, things get far more detailed as I went on.
10th Anniversary Movie/DB Movie 4 ~ Notes: The first quest for the Dragonballs, Goku's initial meeting with Bulma & almost everyone, and his battle with the Red Ribbon Army (which would have to happen at some point due to Androids in the later movies) all happens here. Blue would've survived his brush with death and must've later decided to seek redemption by protecting Emperor Chaozu, the only "employer" that'd still take him. After #8 is brought back to life by Shenlong, Roshi would give Goku the location of his island and tell him to seek him out if he would one day like to train as his grandfather did.
DB Movie 2 ~ Notes: Covering the revelation to the Oozaru, Goku & Kuririn's first meeting, and them finding a gal for Roshi so he can train them. Goku of course first meets Kuririn and Lunch, while meanwhile his friends see his Oozaru form for the first time (don't listen to the confusing dub!) and he eventually begins his full-fledged training under Roshi. His tail is also removed, which it stays as such into the next movie.
DB Movie 3 ~ Notes: An amalgamation of the 21st and 22nd Budokai arcs in one 'grand' tournament, Goku has his big ordeal with Tao, has his visit to Penguin Village, and we see how he meets Tenshinhan and Chaozu. Goku also meets Bora and Upa, we revisit Blue whom has bulked up and seemed to turn over a new leaf, and Goku & Kuririn's direct training under Roshi basically comes to a close. Set at least a little over a year after the destruction of the Red Ribbon Army, Goku possibly sets out to explore the world after Bora is brought back by Shenlong, as he does in the anime.
Piccolo Daimao arc ~ Notes: Start this at about the end of the "Tien Shinhan Saga" when Goku and his friends go to have dinner. Rather than thinking of this as the aftermath of the 22nd Budokai, I guess ya' could think of it as Goku reuniting with his friends after journeying the world. It's about 3 years later and as the gang go to have a reunion supper, Goky remembers leaving his power pole somewhere, though Kuririn goes to get it for him; Kuririn is murdered by Tamborine and thus sets in motion the events as seen in the anime, including Roshi and Chaozu's deaths, leading up to Daimao's eventual demise.
Training w/t Popo & Piccolo Jr. arc ~ Notes: After the battle with Daimao, Goku trains atop the Lookout with Popo and somewhat Kami. 3 years later is the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai, where Goku reunites with his old friends, the final offspring of Daimao, and a grown girl he encountered at some point while a child and accidentally proposed to marry! He eventually defeats Piccolo "Jr." without having to kill him and wins his only Budokai event. Goku and Chichi set off to see Ox, learn how to dance, put out a big-ass fire, and get hitched.
DBZ Movie 1 ~ Notes: Set about a year and a half before Raditz, Goku subtly reveals to Bulma and Roshi a certain secret and Kuririn eventually full-on gets the hint (though not without several bumps on the head to maybe get him some short-term memory loss!), that Goku now has a toddler son named Gohan. Kidnapped by Garlic Jr., Goku sets off and reunites with Piccolo along the way, whom has been training all these years to be an equal match to Goku. Garlic Jr. of course summons Shenlong and hence becomes the only entity in the DragonBall franchise to be granted immortality. After the battle, with Garlic sealed in the Dead Zone by Gohan and seeing the kind of potential laying within the boy, Piccolo vows to defeat his father no matter what and as his final step of his training; developing the "Special Beam Cannon".
Saiyan saga ~ Notes: The events would more-or-less be the same with the exception that Piccolo would have to have survived Nappa's big blast. Yamcha, Chaozu, and Tenshinhan could still be considered as having been killed, leaving the Z senshi to wait a year after the defeat of Vegeta for their balls to re-glow. After Vegeta escapes, they'd of course be recuperating in the hospital with Gohan beginning his studies during this aftermath and Piccolo subtly trying to distance himself from the boy after the dramatic save he made for him.
DBZ Movie 2 ~ Notes: Goku's more-or-less healed after the battle with Vegeta, though his body gets trashed once more by Wheelo before finally killing him. The Z senshi's silent hope for using the Dragonballs to revive the others is crashed by Wheelo and Kochin. Goku used the Genki-dama one more time, this time a much more complete version. The gang all laugh in the end in celebration of their victory, though with Goku thrashed and Piccolo/Kami's balls "inert" once again, where does the gang go from here...
Namek saga ~ Notes: Hmm, think of it like this! With Goku injured again, Gohan, Kuririn, and Bulma decide to set off for Namek to use that planet's balls to revive their friends, not wishing to wait yet another year for their own set to toggle again. Piccolo would remain behind on Earth in case a bitter Vegeta returned, while Goku would still need to heal from both prior battles with the Saiyan Prince and Wheelo. The Earthling trio set off in the modified ship that took Piccolo and Kami to Earth all those years back and encounter a couple obstacles, from meteor showers to an invisible ship where the ominous name "Freeza" is mentioned, until finally reaching Namek.
The trio meet two Namekians of the planet, Rappy and Zacko (seriously, I forget their names), going on a classic-like adventure for all 7 of the planet's Dragonballs. Seriously, don't view this as Fake Namek, but if the trio did get to Namek and hunted for the balls with no Freeza/Vegeta entanglements! So I guess before Gohan gets put in a telekinetic hold as the gang's finding the last ball, you can end at a cliffhanger and assume they manage to revive Yamcha, Chaozu, and Tenshinhan with each wish from Porunga. Leaving the planet, their ship departs just as another enters the atmosphere on the other side of the planet, that of Freeza's! The trio manage to make it out undetected and unaware of the thread poised at Namek, getting back to Earth at least a full year after the events with Wheelo.
DBZ Movie 3 ~ Notes: With all of their friends revived and believing everything to be well and good, not to mention Goku finally healed and staying that way, the gang lets some peace settle into their lives. We're a little over a year after the events with Wheelo and the events with Tullece occuring, both Goku and Gohan may be goin' through more torture from their Saiyan heritage than ever before. A wish from Shenlong is made once again, reverting his carressable balls back to "inert" status for another year. A couple Genki-damas later, peace is restored and the Earth saved from extinction. "It's snowing golllld" Is it, really!?
Freeza saga ~ Notes: One thing to point out, Freeza is actually referenced to Goku in movie 4's Japanese version (as is Vegeta) as though they've had a prior encounter. Therefore, some big time creative license will have to be taken here. So anywho... some time after the defeat of Tullece, the gang hears from Kaio that another much darker force is out there and is terrorizing the innocent people of Piccolo's home planet, Namek, whose Dragonballs have been restored (since Gohan, Kuririn, and Bulma used them) and are being hunted. Kaio tells Goku to go to Namek to save as many Namekians as he can while also getting at least one of the Dragonballs off of Namek, but to not encounter Freeza. Not taking him as seriously as he should, Goku packs along Gohan, Kuririn, and Bulma in a new Capsule Corp. ship built by Dr. Briefs (leaving Piccolo and the others behind to watch over Earth in case Vegeta would come back) and makes a 5-6 day journey, also doing private extensive training along the way.
Upon arriving on Namek, they must do what they can, but arrive a bit too late as nearly the entire Namekian populous has been wiped out and a rogue Vegeta has been cornered by the Ginyu Force. Goku, his son, and best friend leave Bulma on an island when sensing Vegeta and rush to him, getting there just in time to save him from Recoome. This is about where events would start to mirror up with the anime! Goku completely owns the forces of Recoome, Jeice, and Burter. The stuff with Ginyu, as in the anime, goes down. Rather than using the Namekian Dragonballs to revive their friends as in the anime, Goku and the gang yearn to teleport them to Namek to help in the battle against Freeza, confident that all of them combined could stand a chance. As Goku heals after his insane body-&-spirit ordeal with Ginyu, Vegeta naps for the first time in days while Gohan, Kuririn, and Dende sneak off to make their wishes, using the first to bring Piccolo to Namek and the second for him to be brought to the closest Namekian, which they presume is Dende, though Piccolo is whisked off to Nail (just roll with me on this!).
With both wishes not getting Piccolo specifically to where they wanted him, Dende proposes trying again with the third wish, only for Vegeta to show up, Grand Elder to croak, and Freeza to pop up in all his evilness to thwart the Earthlings' plans. The battle with Freeza gets underway, Piccolo meanwhile merges with Nail as he senses the tyrant's first transformation, and Goku remains in his rejuvenation chamber healin' away. Things would go pretty much as expected for the most part; Dende & Vegeta get killed, Freeza reaches his final form, and Goku gets there to witness Vegeta's death and start his and Freeza's epic battle. Here's how I see the fight ending; rather than Goku going SSJ, he in fact does defeat Freeza with his solar-system-powered Genki-dama (though not killing him); however the attack, which also absorbed the energy of a small Death Ball of Freeza's, begins to destroy the planet as it had in the first Budokai game. The heroes of Goku, Piccolo, Gohan, and Kuririn are able to briefly breath a sigh of relief and then set off to find Bulma, getting to her and the 5 get to Goku's ship to finally depart the crumbling Namek.
Escaping, Namek explodes behind them, though little do they know that Freeza survives the destruction, half of his body mutilated beyond belief. He is found by his father, King Cold, and taken off for an extensive healing process. Goku and the gang return to Earth, where everyone regrets being unable to save the people of Namek. Time gradually passes as it seems they can now live in peace, with the most terrible tyrant the universe has ever known being seemingly wiped out.
DBZ Movie 4 ~ Notes: We're just about a bit over a year after the battle with Tullece, at least enough so that Goku or Gohan have had time to find the 4 Star ball once again. Slugg, an old, amnesic, and psychotic Namekian wanderer, comes to Earth in what we view as the events of this feature. Shenlong is summoned once again to restore him to eternal youth, "inerting" the Earth's balls for another year. During the showdown with Slugg, Goku transforms into what Kaio believes to be a Super Saiyan, as he completely overwhelms an enemy superior to even Vegeta and Freeza. Despite the spiked hair, blank eyes, and gold aura going away, normal-form Goku is nonetheless able to defeat Slugg with help from Piccolo and the sun, thus peace is restored, as Kyle Hebert's Narrator would say!
Creative License gap #1 ~ Notes: After the ordeal with Slugg, Goku decides that what he needs is training off in outer space to develop the Super Saiyan ability in its complete form, as he sensed he was in more of a primal and incomplete manner prior. He also vows to Piccolo and Gohan that he'll, somehow, find a way to restore the Namekian people. They both wonder how this could possibly be pulled off, but Goku is 100% convinced in his usual happy manner that he'll find a way. Arriving on the planet of Yardrat, where a destination of Briefs' ship picked up the closest detection to that of a Dragonball signature in the North galaxy, Goku meets the peaceful Yardrateans; despite learning Dragonballs did not exist on the planet, he does learn that the people have secret and very special techniques they could teach him, hence the unique aura of their race.
After much practice in a meditating technique, Goku is able to bring himself, in mind and soul, face-to-face with Shenlong in whatever netherly realm the dragon exists while dormant. Explaining he'll need a couple favors, the dragon accepts Goku's request on a couple conditions of his own; that he never return to this "place" again and that when the time comes, he'll repay the debt. Goku accepts with his casual happy mannerisms and Shenlong goes through with granting two secret wishes; the formation of a new Planet Namek and the revival of all those killed by Freeza & his henchmen, brought back to life on that planet. Goku is then flung back to his physical body on Yardrat, with a grin of relief, then passes a message in his ship to his friends that he's succeeded and he'll be coming back home, though not before learning some new nifty things on Yardrat.
Garlic Jr. saga ~ Notes: The Garlic Jr. saga happens, basically mirroring the anime to a T., with Vegeta being able to get himself to a ship and going through the universe looking for Goku (just ignore it's Capsule 3 marked? XD;; ). He desperately wants to learn how Freeza was defeated, along the way taking down certain areas of the Trade Empire, and wanting to discover the secret to becoming a true Super Saiyan. At one point, Goku seems to appear to him from a distance during one of his adventures, this being the first moment in this 'verse when Goku teleports and goes true-SSJ for the first visual time; Vegeta misses him, though gets the truth confirmed to him that Kakarrot has indeed reached something new. Gohan, Piccolo, Kuririn, and of course Kami & Popo meanwhile go through hell with the returned imp from the Dead Zone, managing to defeat Garlic Jr. and in the aftermath, Kuririn getting his heart broken by his first girlfriend, Marron.
Trunks saga ~ Notes: As Goku finally departs Yardrat and makes his way to Earth, Freeza has fully recuperated with the help of his father. They of course journey together to Earth, where Vegeta has recently arrived and taken hold of benefits Bulma's giving him at Capsule Corp. Freeza is sensed, the nail-biting anticipating ensues as his ship arrives, and Trunks pops up before Goku is able to teleport to take care of business. From this movie'verse perspective, it's the first time a true Super Saiyan has been fully shown, resulting in the deaths of Freeza and King Cold. Goku then returns and meets this strange boy, whom gives the big 3 year warning about the Androids that've terrorized his own future (created by a survivor of that very same Red Ribbon Army Goku had defeated on his first Dragonball journey all those years back), along the way fully showing us Goku (again, from this perspective) as a SSJ for the first time when Trunks tests him. The gang get the big-time hint and begin training.
DBZ Movie 5 ~ Notes: In my assumption, and this deals with the anime canon as well, we're at least a full year and a half after Trunks' warning. Bulma is offscreen 3 months pregnant and Vegeta focusing on his intense training, desiring more to be a SSJ than ever, not wishing to allow himself to get distracted for even an instant anymore. Gohan's by this point had another haircut and grown his tail back offscreen, something that is not unheard of in the DB franchise. Things with Coola happen as they oughta, Goku uses the true SSJ for the first time in a real battle, and the evil older brother of Freeza is defeated when blasted through the sun. Afterwards, Gohan would have his tail removed one last time due to the weakness Doore brought into the picture and start growing his hair back out, meanwhile the training continued.
Creative License gap #2 ~ Notes: We're about a year before the arrival of the Androids is due. Trunks has just been born, but the cold hearted Vegeta sets off into space for the resolution to his training, the last thing he wants is a baby forced on him. Meanwhile, while Piccolo is able to get to a level higher than Goku's regular form, he's still unable to get to an equal status in regard to the Super Saiyan power. Remembering the type of Super Namek power Slugg had, he suspects he can get his own type of that in reuniting with Kami, something he very much wishes not to do. However, for the Earth and Gohan, he sets off to do the right thing and Kami agrees that it'd be for the best. After the remerging, Goku ponders how they could still use the Dragonballs, though comes up with the idea to get a new guardian from New Namek; with help from Kaio, he makes it there and is allowed to pick Dende, bringing him back for the Dragonballs to be resparkled and Mr. Popo gets a new friend.
DBZ Movie 6 ~ Notes: In my assumption, we're at least 5-3 months before the arrival of the Androids, where the events as depicted in the feature happen. Dende senses Namek's trouble with the metallic Coola's siege on the planet, pleads to Goku and the others to help. Figuring they still have enough time and that it'd be a good final training step, Goku, Piccolo, Gohan, Kuririn, and even Yajirobe & Roshi venture off for New Namek. Piccolo is able to put his Super Namek abilities to the test and while superior to a Super Saiyan, would eventually be overwhelmed by Coola. Meanwhile, Super Saiyan Goku is saved at one point by Vegeta, whom reveals that he now too is a Super Saiyan. Only Goku learns this and after the battle, opts not to tell the others, as Vegeta may wanna keep it to himself (as he does) for the time being.
Android saga ~ Notes: The events of the Android saga, with the exception of Piccolo already being merged with Kami and Dende already being the Kami of Earth, go as more-or-less in the anime for a while. A near-crippled Goku is overwhelmed by #19, whom is subsequently taken out by a returning Super Saiyan Vegeta. Piccolo is still the most powerful of the gang, superior to Goku, Vegeta, and the returned Trunks, though he still doesn't manage to finish off Dr. Gero/#20 this time around. However this time around, rather than Gero getting in a brief fight with Kuririn, Piccolo's far more advanced power convinces him to go straight to his lab without any incident. He gets there and, as we see in DBZ movie 7, the activation of #17 and #18 is a failure for him, as he's subsequently killed with only the three 'Cyborgs' in the lab as our heroes fruitlessly search. 17 and 18 release 16 and exit the lab, destroying the bulk of it in the process, going off in their search for Goku.
Vegeta spots them on a nearby mountain road and notices the RR insignia on each of them, guesses they're Androids and challenges them to a fight. He and 18 have an all-out brawl, though the others sense it and come to the battle. 17 warns that if any of them interfere, then he'll have to do the same. As Vegeta is gradually crushed by the superior speed and strength of 18, Trunks attempts to join in the battle as in the anime, but fails to get a good shot. At this point, 17 jumps on in after Trunks, but Piccolo surprises both Androids when he catches 17 off guard with his full power. Tenshinhan, Trunks, and a near-inured Vegeta gang up on 18 while 17 is taken full on by Piccolo's Super Namek abilities, all the while Kuririn cowers and 16 observes the birds. Eventually a stalemate is reached and 17 sees there won't be any point in fighting if they can't win, which without 16, won't happen.
Piccolo suggests a compromise, as the Kami within him can sense a difference in these Androids from the sociopath monsters of Trunks' world. They call off their hunt of Goku and swear to never hurt an innocent person and they can walk in peace. Both 17 and 18, seeing the logic in this, agree to this, though 16 remains silent. 17 mentions they'll take the big guy with them and get him another curious hobby, hence they head off and Piccolo breathes a large sigh of relief. Meanwhile, Vegeta simply stands idly by, his pride a bit crushed to say the least that he had to be helped by the Earthlings and Namekian. He flies off in a huff of a rage, leaving the others behind as Trunks tries chasing after him, but is stopped by Piccolo. With the warriors heading for Goku's home to check on him, Bulma gets a most interesting phone call about a new time machine...
...Roll with me on this! As Goku recovers at the Son house, as there'd be no point to flying him to Kame House with the truce, Trunks ponders how he can defeat the Androids and that his best hope may be bringing the others to the future with him. Suddenly, Bulma rings the house and gets a hold of him as they all sit by Goku's side, asking him and Gohan to meet her at the coordinates to the new time machine. As in the anime, they discover Cell's egg shell and fill in the others while news reports pop up of mysterious "disappearances" of entire cities. Piccolo goes off to confront the imperfect Cell and as their battle starts, 16 senses Cell's energy as Goku's. Figuring they could get in one last laugh, 17 sends 16 off to kill him by himself if he wishes, a bit to 18's calm dismay as it bends the rules of their truce. After a couple ultimate attacks by Piccolo, Cell barely manages to survive each time and eventually catches Piccolo off guard in wishing to absorb him.
Much to Cell's surprise, he's smashed from behind by 16, who flies in too fast to be able to tell whom he's aiming at with simply aims for the power signature he identifies as Goku's. He attempts to apologize to a battered Cell and Piccolo simply has a dumbfounded look on his face for why 16 saved him. A troop of soldiers then shows up and as in the anime, Cell's pissed enough at this point to just unleash a massive blast on them, annihilating every one of them. Having subtly grown a love for this planet, 16 recognizes that Cell wishes to cause nothing but death and destruction and swears to fight by Piccolo's side this one time in taking him down. Grudgingly accepting, the Namekian and Android take on Cell, whom underestimates both of their abilities and is quickly overwhelmed; at the climax of the battle, Piccolo slams Cell into the ground and 16 unleashes his Hell Flash, immediately afterward allowing Piccolo to get in one final Masenko for good measure.
As Trunks and Kuririn show up confused as to what's going on, 16 explains that while he will fight Goku to the death one day, he sees that there could be other dangers out there worse than Cell and decides that he can live for the moment. Piccolo notices that 16 is far more superior to himself and accepts, the two then part; unknown to them though, within the depths of the Earth under the city, Cell's core has survived and very slowly and gradually regenerates (over a far longer course of time than he would if absorbing 17 and 18 due to his weak status). While Trunks swears that he'll nonetheless take 16 out if he proves to be a threat, the peaceful Android simply smiles and departs. Later at the Son house, Goku at last recovers and finds Piccolo and everyone else at his bedside, where he gets the full story that he hadn't already learned in his dreams.
DBZ Movie 7 ~ Notes: Recapping the destruction of Dr. Gero, we see that there are actually more Androids within the depths of his wrecked lab, 3 more to be specific. At last with peace seemingly restored for the moment, the gang set out for a nice shopping day to celebrate Goku getting better. The events of this feature occur and the trio of Androids 13, 14, and 15 are battled against. Good thing Goten's been conceived by this point, as Goku takes a most interesting shot to the...GoNads following 13's absorption of the destroyed 14 and 15. The combined power of the three Super Saiyans Goku, Trunks, and Vegeta (whom has put the anger at losing to 18 behind him for the moment), as well as Super Namek Piccolo, prove no match. With the combination of the Genki-dama as a bizarre absorption into Goku's SSJ form, he gains a grand amount of power that manages to destroy Super 13 and peace is quickly reshined once more; the power in Gero's lab shuts down and with it, the infant Cell's incubator offscreen.
Creative License gap #3 ~ Notes: Following the epic battle with the three older Androids, Goku is inspired by the power he briefly had after absorbing the Genki-dama that there must be another level beyond that of a Super Saiyan. He goes to Vegeta following the gang's stop at a hospital and discusses this, both agreeing to go into the Room of Spirit and Time for explorative (such a word?) training, each with their own sons. Vegeta wishes to go in first so he can finally surpass powers such as Piccolo, the remaining Androids that defeated him, and especially Kakarrot; Goku meanwhile simply wants to train to push himself beyond his limits and to be ready for any future threat. While Vegeta and Trunks make their way in, far off underground of the destroyed city Ginger Town, Cell completely regenerates and brings himself up from out of the ground. Amazed that he survived, though too angry and out of the loop to realize how, he goes to the nearest city he can for absorbing.
By this point back with 17 and 18, 16 and the two siblings simply have a road trip through the country (as they do in the anime, though not hunting Goku) and come upon a small village that Cell just happens to be attacking. Horrified by this kind of violence, 18 tells her brother that they gotta stop whatever's doing this. 16 walks in front of them at the village's entrance, scanning and noting that all life is gone, but just then the nourished and power-increased Cell sneaks up behind them all with his power suppressed and absorbs 17. Not knowing what's going on, 16 and 18 merely stand by in shock to what's going on. Nearby, a flying Tenshinhan senses the power and recognizes that it's gotta be Cell's, increasing far beyond that of Piccolo's. He rushes off to see what's going on while at the Lookout, Piccolo sits with Goku and Gohan and senses the power, wishing to go off but Goku manages to stop him.
Approaching 18, the 2nd form of Cell is taken on by 16, only to get severely damaged. As he's about to absorb 18, he's caught completely off guard by several KikoHos of Ten's, whom is able to keep Cell at bay in a vein attempt to kill him. He yells down asking what happened and 18 replies that 17 has been taken by him, absorbed and now he's coming for her next. Ten tells her to run as far away as she possibly can and he increases the ferocity of his blasts, at this point relying on his life-energy, leading to him being drained and collapsing. Mirroring the anime version of this scene, 16 and 18 make it away, with Cell attempting to kill Ten in revenge, only for Goku to teleport in and save him. Back at the Lookout, Goku tells Popo and Dende that they may need the Dragonballs pretty soon, though Dende tells him that's all covered, as he and Popo went on a vacation the month prior to track them down and so they have 'em all by the throne, much to Goku's happiness as Ten is healed.
While Cell hunts 18, Vegeta and Trunks at last exit the Room of Spirit and Time, obviously having reached the ultra stages and gotten a nifty deal more powerful. Goku and Gohan then take their turns as the Saiyan Prince and his future heir get the full story on what's been happening since they left. Determined to defeat this Cell by himself, Vegeta heads off, followed by Trunks. As in the anime, by this point, 18 and 16 are hiding on one of many islands that Cell has tracked them to and proceeded to destroy. Vegeta gets there just before 18's can be hit and confronts Cell, now revealing the full extent of his ultra SSJ powers. He completely wipes the floor and ocean with Cell, defeating him and also revealing that his less powerful son would've done just as well. Cell manages to persuade him to help in his quest for 18, as in the anime (though with Kuririn nowhere in sight, as the deactivation remote couldn't be a part of all this), 18 is eventually absorbed and Cell becomes completely Perfect.
Taking out both Vegeta and the stronger-yet-slower advanced-ultra SSJ Trunks, Cell is curious as to how they attained so much power in such a quick amount of time. He decides to hold the Cell Games and gives Trunks a 10 day reprieve, telling him to pick up his battered father and go home to become a worthy challenge. Very pissed off by the loss, Trunks explodes in anger and nearly decides to just destroy the damaged 16, though decides not to be overcome with vengeance and gives his father a remaining senzu. Elsewhere a day later, Goku and Gohan finally exit the Room of Spirit and Time, the latter of whom has learned how to become a Super Saiyan as they're both now in the stages seemingly indefinitely. He decides that he and Gohan should simply enjoy the remaining 9 days of peace while Piccolo, Vegeta, and Trunks take extra goes in the RoSaT.
As all the Dragonballs are already collected, after Cell kills a troop of soldiers at his constructed arena, Goku simply busts his radio rather than the anime counterpart (leaving for Dende and spending the rest of the time searching for Dragonballs). Chichi suddenly pulls out a flyer for a school interview she wishes to get Gohan into and comments that having Goku back in his normal state for it would be a good thing. Letting out a small chuckle, Goku simply reverts back to his normal form and tells Gohan he can do the same, that there's nothing to worry about and they can get their statuses back up after the school interview.
DBZ Movie 8 ~ Notes: Following Trunks' exit from the Room of Spirit and Time, with only a few days left until the Cell Games begin, the gang all go to a picnic Vegeta grudgingly joins as Goku and Chichi attempt to enroll Gohan into a big school. The events of this feature unfold with Paragus, Broly, etc. Broly goes psycho, Vegeta pisses his speedos, Goku goes energy-borrowin', and New Vegeta is destroyed. 'Kay? 'Kay. Upon returning to Earth, Goku and Gohan are a bit caught up in Chichi fainting, though probably would later remember to get back to their indefinite SSJ statuses.
The Cell Games saga ~ Notes: The day finally arrives and events unfold pretty much exactly as they did in the anime. Mr. Satan and his cronies make fools out of themselves, Goku gets in an epic battle with Cell, Gohan jumps in, torture of the Z senshi, destruction of 16, emergence of SSJ2, and rest of the arc up to Trunks defeating the Androids of his time and Goku and Kaio taking their Snake Way road trip. However, as in the anime canon, they'd stop by at another tree branch eventually to tune in for the events of an all new upcoming Budokai event on Earth. Trunks even returns from the past one final time and after telling Bulma of his time's Androids' defeat, decides he'll stick around for the event to spend some last time with his past family and maybe even win his mother a vacation. Meanwhile, unknown to all, the destruction of Kaio's planet that killed him and Goku during the battle with Cell has unleashed an all new powerful force once battled by the 4 Kaios...
DBZ Movie 9 ~ Notes: Events unfold as they should. Goten has been born by this point, from my perspective being looked after by Ox at home as a slim Chichi goes to the Galactic Budokai to watch Gohan. Bojack and his minions pop up, Vegeta gets back his confidence he seemed to have lost after the battle with Cell, and Goku briefly returns from the afterlife to save Gohan and remind him of the special power he has that can stop Bojack. The day is saved, though like with Cell, all the people believe it was by Mr. Satan. Trunks would of course afterward return to his time once and for all and that's that.
The Great Saiyaman saga ~ Notes: Pretty much just like the anime, events unfold with Goku going to Grand Kaio's to partake in the big unique tournament, meets Pikuhan, and their battle ends as it does. 7 years later, Gohan and his high school adventures, at first briefly as the Golden One, then as Great Saiyaman get underway. As we know once Videl learns his true identity, he teaches her flight. Although, unlike in the anime before she would completely master it, she'd meet Trunks one day and get told the story by him and Goten about the Dragonballs. Curious as to what the dragon looked like, while the boys were interested in a wish each, Videl decided to join them in a hunt for all 7 balls.
DBZ Movie 10 ~ Notes: With Gohan out, events unfold as the feature obviously should. Broly comes back, just as insane as before, having been frozen underneath the lake of a village terrorized by some wacko dinosaur. A big battle gets underway that Gohan eventually joins in, resulting in an ambiguous return of Goku from the afterlife, thanks to the thinking monologue of a wish from Goten. While Shenlong doesn't appear, the collected 7 balls glow and the wish seems to be granted, with them all separating afterwards and most likely not "inerting" due to the nature of this wish. Broly is defeated seemingly once and for all by the entire Son dynasty in a showdown Vegeta apparently may've not sensed, perhaps busy with Bulma relieving some tension from his training...?
Babidi & Buu arc ~ Notes: Hence, things unfold as in the anime, pretty much to a T. On the morning after Goku leaves the living world, #18 and Kuririn go off with Marron to Mr. Satan's place, with her wanting to get her money now rather than later (probably to get it before Buu could kill Mr. Satan?). Goten and Trunks, apparently having woken up early as well before Piccolo has, joins them rather than wait for their Fusion training to continue. Buu's by this point in the country side and so can be considered as not a threat to their adventure.
DBZ Movie 11 ~ Notes: Events occur as the feature should. 18 tries to finally get her money from Mr. Satan, whom in the meantime is being blackmailed by an old rival into coming to his place. The existence of a Broly clone is discovered there, most possibly with the essence of the original Broly within, as his last and only word turns out to be "Kakarrot-o". Less powerful than the genuine article, Goten and Trunks, with the help of Kuririn and the local sea water, manage to finish the monster once and for all. 18 of course never quite gets her money, though at least things are settled in that area and the gang would all probably head back to the Lookout for much needed sleep... only for Piccolo to eventually wake them up in a very angry mood?
Buu arc w/t Creative License ~ Notes: The Buu arc continues to unfold as it did in the anime, though does have a major turning point. Rather than Buu fooling the others into blowing himself up when overwhelmed by a returned Ultimate Gohan, Gohan in fact manages to destroy him. Through a complex manner perhaps as Toriyama may've originally intended, Buu's destruction comes about from his attempt to absorb Gotenks and doing so, but rather than Goku and Vegeta being granted reprieves, Gohan manages to survive past Buu's inner difusment. Despite Super Buu w/t Piccolo, Goten, and Trunks attempting to absorb Gohan, like Vegetto does in the anime, Gohan gives himself a barrier and takes his own interior journey inside Buu to free his brother and friends. Fat Buu is left behind as Gohan makes it out; with Buu taking Dende hostage, Gohan manages to get Buu open to attack with Mr. Satan's help, at last giving him a final Kamehame-Ha that seems to end him.
Afterwards, Piccolo, Goten, and Trunks finally awake, while Tenshinhan is meanwhile healed by Dende for a prior attempt to help Gohan (as in the anime more-or-less). Bee suddenly starts barking at a final remaining pink blip of goo left behind, everyone stares wide-eyed and Gohan doesn't think this is possible, but ironically enough it regenerates into an unconscious fat Buu. Gohan contemplates on if they should keep him alive and Piccolo remembers something Goku said about how it was only taught destruction, that with Mr. Satan's help and the destruction of the evil Buu essence, it could now be an innocent being. Dende then heals him and Buu is happy to see Mr. Satan okay, though confused as to what's happened, as the last thing he remembers is playing ball with Bee. It's brought up that they should all wait the 4-6 months for the Dragonballs to reshine and that hence is done; as we see 6 months later, Gohan and his friends wish for everyone, not evil, whom had died since Babidi arrived on Earth to be revived. Shenlong granted this wish and departed, though not before Dende asks if he could grant three wishes the next time he's summoned.
Almost everyone is revived. Goku makes a request to KabitoShin, whom has indeed merged with the Potaras even without Goku being brought back to life, to ask the Namekians if they can revive some extra friends not able to be revived by Shenlong. This is done and hence Kuririn, Chaozu, Roshi, and the others unable to be revived from the prior wish are brought back (Vegeta is not revived). A second wish is utilized to restore all the damage done to the Earth, while the third is used to erase the knowledge of Buu from the normal Earthlings' memories so fat Buu can live a normal life. Peace is at last restored and exactly a year later, Goku learns in the afterlife that another heavenly Budokai is being planned, to which he hopes he can finally have his rematch with Pikuhan.
DBZ Movie 12 ~ Notes: Everything happens as in the movie, of course. Goku and Pikuhan at last get their rematch while elsewhere in the afterlife, the soul cleansing machine is overloaded and spills out onto a certain Oni, whom in turn becomes Janemba. Yay wacky antics? Following the amusing conclusion with Shenlong, we can assume he decides to just grant one wish next time around rather than 3, departing as his balls divide yet again.
Final Creative License gap ~ Notes: After the battle with Janemba is concluded and Vegeta loses his corporeal body, Goku returns to Enma's and gets a special surprise from the big guy. Apparently for all that he's done, a special new reward is being given to him, authorized by the Kaioshins themselves. Goku, as well as a fellow deceased member of the afterlife of his choice, can be restored to life; the only consequence being that Porunga can never revive Goku again if he's killed once more, though he happily accepts the offer. Before Enma can even finish his question on who Goku wants to pick, he selects Vegeta. The duo are returned to Earth, Vegeta to a lonely Bulma and Goku to his family while they're outside the Son house playing. The families embrace and all seems to be right once more.
DBZ Movie 13 ~ Notes: As happens in the movie, the movie occurs!? So yeah, the big reasoning for this movie for why Shenlong only grants one wish has been covered, of course. Tapion is released, the battle with Hildegarn ensues, and destruction ahoy. Super Saiyan 3 Goku and a sword wielding Trunks manage to deliver the final blows, saving the day one more time. Tapion leaves and Trunks accepts his sword, now ready to grow from the spoiled brat he'd always been into a confident and very brave young man.

The first DB movie I intertwine with the early arc, so there ends up a fourway struggle for the DBs between Bulma/Goku/Oolong, Yamcha/Pu'ar, Pilaf/Shu/Mai and Gurumes/Bongo/Pasta. The seven balls are brought together, and this alone is enough to undo Gurumes's curse and restore the land without having to actually summon Shenlong. Pilaf and Co. try to make off with the balls but, due to their incompetence, leave the four-star ball. Events proceed as we know them.
The second DB movie takes place pretty much unchanged, except that Lunch doesn't accompany Goku and Kuririn back to Kame House like at the end of the movie, but goes her own way, and is later found again during their hunt for a pichi-pichi babe.
DB movies 3 and 4 I just don't bother with. Not enough new stuff to go through the bother.
DBZ movie 1 takes place a year or so pre-Saiyan saga. Much like Conan, I went with the idea that Kuririn gets enough knocks on the head that he remembers Gohan, but not his name or his relationship to Goku.
DBZ movie 2, as I noted, has Dr. Wheelo freed not by a DB wish, but by Vegeta's worldwide storm. Piccolo is here because he's using his day back, which he was automatically granted when he was allowed to keep his body. Oolong and Gohan are in the frozen north because Oolong has heard rumors there used to be a beautiful "Ice Maiden" hidden within the permanent ice that is now unfreezing. (Of course, he heard wrong; an Ice Monster is more like it). The Biomen are based on what was left of the Saibamen, reconstructed in Wheelo's lab.
DBZ movie 3 also does not feature the DB wish. The humans are using their day back, and Piccolo is using his SECOND day; Kami let him have his own, figuring that anything that lets Piccolo spend more time around Gohan is a good thing. Goku's been able to be up and around these last two movies because Karin had a couple more senzu, but he's finally run out, so this time Tullece sends him to the hospital.
DBZ movie 4 takes place post-Freeza. Vegeta is off in space hunting for Goku, not realizing Goku secretly came back. Slug gives him a lot of trouble, because as he later tells Mirai Trunks, he hasn't yet mastered the ability to turn Super Saiyan at will.
In DBZ movie 5, he finally gets the Super Saiyan knack down, but he also decides hanging around on Earth is too dangerous for the time being, so he leaves for space after defeating Coola.
DBZ movie 6 takes place during the three years of Android training, largely unchanged, except Dende is replaced with Kami. Aware now of his Namekian heritage, he wants to help his people as he senses their plight on New Namek, so he asks Goku and friends to help. Also, Goku agrees to keep Vegeta's Super Saiyan abilities to himself for the time being.
DBZ movie 7 takes place while Imperfect Cell is stalking around. Goku fights off the heart virus and suggests that just sitting around stressed out will just make them too tense and not able to fight at their peaks when the time comes, so he badgers everyone (except, of course, Vegeta) into hitting the big city for a day on the town to relax. New androids attack, and in the aftermath of absorbing the Genki Dama to defeat 13, the heart virus flares back up again.
DBZ movie 8 takes place during the leadup to the Cell Games. After sensing Broli, Cell agrees to extend the deadline if they're held up fighting him, figuring that this way either the heroes will be stronger and give him a more entertaining fight, or he'll get to face Broli instead.
DBZ movie 9 is unchanged, except that Chi-Chi has brought along a baby Goten.
DBZ movie 10 takes place during the pre-tournament days of training.
DBZ movie 11 takes place during the early part of the Buu saga. 18 demands her money immediately after the win, but is interrupted by Men-Men and Jaguar. They go to the island and a curious Goten and Trunks tag along. Kuririn follows, abandoning the stakeout of Babidi's spaceship when he senses 18 and the boys in trouble.
DBZ movie 12, obviously, is the massive headache. I eventually chose to set it during the time when Buu is living in his strange little house. When the crisis of the dead breaks out, Kaioshin calls off Gohan's training and sends him to Earth to test out his powers so far. Videl alone senses him, and flies off to help, but she agrees to keep his still-being-alive a secret until he's fully powered up and ready to come back and fight Buu. Goten and Trunks, meanwhile, sneak out on their own to fight Hitler. The dragon is never summoned.
(Also note that I plan to bring Mirai Trunks back into the series about now. He explains that shortly after he killed Cell, Babidi struck his world, having been waiting till there was only one being of massive power, and attacked numerous other planets, such as New Namek, in the meantime. Mirai Trunks eventually went SS2 and killed his versions of Babidi and Dabra, but not before they killed the last remnants of humanity. His version of Kaioshin then told him when in the main timeline he should go to to help. He fights Buu to delay him and give Goten and Trunks more time to train and fuse; is nearly killed by Buu; is taken to Kaioshin's world, gets Mystic'd as well; fights Buu with Gohan; and gets absorbed. This means that when Goku and Vegeta do their rescue mission, they have FIVE people to save, so they literally have to juggle, making for some Toriyama-esque slapstick. He ends up moving permanently to the main timeline)
DBZ movie 13 takes place largely unchanged, except that Trunks is less interested in Tapion as a big brother, as he already has one now (see above paragraph) and more interested because Tapion reminds him of his big brother.

Just did a little 5 minute research and slowly put the list together. I just spent the last 10, 15 minutes searching around google for the original chapter release dates, but it's one hell of a hassle. I'll keep lookin, but I doubt I'll have much luck.
