Playdia Game Original Animation

Post by SSJ Helldog » Sun Mar 09, 2008 3:30 pm

Searched the forums and didn't see anything about these particular scenes, so thought I'd post them.

This guy has posted scenes from the Playdia game that weren't part of Visual Game Guide (or OVA, or whatever). I thought they were amusing, especially the part about Bulma's mom. I hope you enjoy them, if only for the sake of having some new animated DBZ footage to watch.

Watching this makes me want to play it, but I never found a Playdia emulator. Even if i did, I can't read Japanese so I guess I will never play it...

And I doubt you will ever see a Playdia emulator anytime soon.

Capsuleman was working on transfering these two games onto DVD format, as a video game, with subtitles. I wonder if he's still working on it.

Kick ass. Thanks for sharing. Though I can't help but nitpick at the fact that Piccolo cannot handle the heat of a volcano...Come on here...That's nothing for a Z-Fighter.

Strange. I had assumed this topic would garner more attention. I'm guessing either 1) people read the topic and assumed I was talking about the OVA in general, or 2) someone posted this in the past.

I would wager more on the later, plus the fact that the OVA is known to be rather boring, and it's pretty easily available with a bit of looking anyway.

I'm in the generation of fans that started with Toonami, so I totally empathize with the feeling of having "missed the party", experiencing disappointment, and wanting to experience it myself. But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

You're not alone. I prefer it to most of the Dragonball Z movies.

This is one of those things that pops up every so often, so yes, it's been posted a lot before and lots of people have seen them :).

Why would you want to play the Playdia games? Aren't they basically an interactive movie?

Yeah, when I was younger I had a... *ahem* Power Rangers game just like it, but the fact that I was playing a game with full motion video seemed really cool then.

Huh, dunno why those older postings didn't come up when I searched the forums. Blast!

Why would you want to watch a movie? You can't do anything with it. Why would you want to read a book? There aren't any pictures to see.

I don't really understand the basis of the question.

I have yet to see any of these games. It would probably be more enjoyable if it were subtitled.

Mabye it'll be a special feature on a future Season set?

Take a dump on my face, but I'd actually mabye like to play it to see what happens and how it affects stuff when you make different decisions. Because I'm me.

Thats not the point I was getting at -_-

pepsiplunge wants to play the game, its hardly a game. You press a button to get to the next cutscene. I dont understand why someone would spend money on a game that you just sit and watch.

If it were more widely available I wouldnt be bringing it up. But the fact that it was on the Playdia system makes it expensive. I'm personally not going to waste money on something that's all over Youtube. Something that has no copyright in the US.

Oh. Nomura.

Well I'd want to see this OVA to find what's all the fuss about.
