This is somthing I never got around to asking. If anybody owns Funimations "Frieza - Fall Of A Tyrant" DVD, can you please check and see if the main menu looks like this:
I ask because this is the only DVD in the Freeza saga out of the 10 that looks like this. The other 9 main menu's look like this:
I'de really appreciate it if anybody could look for me. I'm hoping my copy isn't a bootleg.

Yep, you got a boot.... unless they changed the menu on a later issue. Which I doubt.

Yeah, seconded. I just checked my copy, and the menu is the second one.

Those are awesome menus on the FUNi singles though...
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
Well different Region DVDs have different menus. You sure that's not just a foreign DVD?

I thought of that too, scan the jacket, that'll tell us all we need to know.

I heard they changed the menus and a few subtitle mistakes on newer prints, so that could be a possibility.

I doubt that it's a bootleg. My disc also has the same menu (the top one).
Is there any way to tell the difference between the originals and reprints? I have all 10 Freeza discs. Discs 2-8 have a transparent kind of printing on the disc, whereas discs 1, 9 & 10 have a non transparent printing.
I actually got discs 2-8 together and 1, 9 & 10 in a separate ebay auction. Perhaps the seller had purchased the reprints?
Edit: I just checked the menus on 'The Summoning (1)' and 'Namek's End (10)' (non transparent DVDs). The Summoning has a menu similar to the first one, whereas Namek's End has the second 'cgi' one.

Hmmm. Looks legit. Assuming the disc itself if pressed (as opposed to just some burned copy) I would have to think it's simply just a different release.

Yeah, the
y're both crappy, but at least the first shot didn't try to impress me with lame cgi.

If you check the DVD-guide on the main site, it mentions that FUNi did a re-release of the Freeza-saga with fixed episode-navigation, reinserted eyecatchers, openings and endings surrounding each episode and stuff like that, but they never actually announced that they did them. That's what that is. So it's an official release, just newer than the other ones you have. I have one of those as well.

I recall the Buu dvds had a similar dvd structure with the same "Dragonball Z" text.

Interesting. All my discs but the "Fall of the Tyrant" DVD are transparent like your second picture. And just incase anybody is wondering, I got the Freeza DVD's in the same auction from ebay.
