I also highly doubt they're gonna switch to Daima's continuity because Daima didn't make as many waves as they probably wanted. Unlike Super. The Dark Knight wrote: Sat Feb 21, 2026 4:23 amThe problem is that Superhero was set roughly a year or even less before the end of Z, so how many more stories can you fit within a few months' time frame ? Black Freeza will either be the final story in this modern era, or things will move past the end of Z. I guess another possibility is that Black Freeza wraps up the Super story line, then Dragon Ball shift focus to the Daima continuity and continue on from there, but that seems even less likely due to how heavily involved Toriyama was with that project.Noah wrote: Fri Feb 20, 2026 9:34 pmI’ve got this gut feeling that Dragon Ball will never go past its original manga ending out of respect for Akira Toriyama. He was never interested in creating stories set after that point, and he made that pretty clear more than once.

Only dubs that matter are DB, Kai, & Super. Nothing else.

What I hate about modern Dragon Ball - or rather, the latest Dragon Ball pieces of media - is this oversimplification of the artstyle. In Daima, almost every main character - kid or adult - looks like a vegan. I loved the era of 90s DBZ where the characters looked like they came out of a Masters of the Universe episode, and it is really off-putting for an old guy like me to see this anorexic art direction. I suspect it's done for time, since simpler drawings are also faster to make, but ... if Daima was the first piece of Dragon Ball media I got exposed to today, I wouldn't give the franchise a single glance. And I see this art design slowly infecting video games as well. The newest Dragon Ball video game project seems to be going this route, and it sucks for me.
I really hope those new pieces of media - the continuation of Super and the remasters - will bring back the character designs I prefer.

Toriyama's style changed with time for whatever reason, but the character designs for the animated projects will in all likelihood remain simpler because it is easier to animate them. To make the animation more expressive while also dealing with an industry with more projects than available skilled animators, simple designs remain the best choice.
That being said, it isn't like these characters are without muscles at all. Gokuu and friends are ripped as hell in Daima's final handful of episodes. Dragon Ball Super: Broly has the characters also muscular. The Galactic Patrol seems to be in line with those projects, too.

"looks like a vegan" is hilarious lolNickolaidas wrote: Mon Feb 23, 2026 11:57 am In Daima, almost every main character - kid or adult - looks like a vegan.
I can see how the new characters can fit that description, like Glorio for example, but I think the main cast as adults are properly sized, sure not to the levels of the good old Z days, but let's at least be grateful they didn't use Toriyama's actual modern character designs for Goku Vegeta Piccolo etc
And like Julie said, in the recent movies the characters have also been properly sized and don't look "vegan" lol especially in Broly
