Dragon Ball Kai comes to Disney+ UK
Seasons 1 and 2 were just added today.
Guess any more exposure for Dragon Ball on a major streaming service is good, although I still would have preferred the Ocean dub, as unlikely as that is at this stage.

Dragon Ball and Disney are two words that I never expected to be together in a sentence. Anyway, it's nice to know that the United Kingdom is still getting releases of DB.
About the Ocean Kai dub... I've already come to terms that it's not gonna ever be released. It sucks that Toei comissioned the dub for nothing but unfortunately that's a common thing in the dubbing world.

A little too late but yeah, I've been officially active in Kanzenshuu for ten years

Canada got it too.Tian wrote: Sun May 17, 2026 2:44 pm Dragon Ball and Disney are two words that I never expected to be together in a sentence. Anyway, it's nice to know that the United Kingdom is still getting releases of DB.
And apparently Super Broly was on Disney+ in Asia.
Agreed, still unfortunate though.Tian wrote: Sun May 17, 2026 2:44 pm About the Ocean Kai dub... I've already come to terms that it's not gonna ever be released. It sucks that Toei comissioned the dub for nothing but unfortunately that's a common thing in the dubbing world.
Interestingly France was also included when Crunchyroll started getting the series here, so I guess this was a similar package deal with the UK and Ireland?
Assuming this is a copy and paste of what Hulu got in the US its probably a mix of uncut episodes and Nicktoons variants.Yellow Flower King wrote: Sun May 17, 2026 7:51 pm Is this edited? I dont mean because I want it to be edited, but Mr Popo's no longer allowed in polite company.

Re: Dragon Ball Kai comes to Disney+ UK
Sand Land and Bleach have both been Disney+ exclusives, so I can't say that I'm particularly surprised. I mean, I think that Disney+ is a weird platform but this is consistent with that rest of what they're doing.Tian wrote: Sun May 17, 2026 2:44 pm Dragon Ball and Disney are two words that I never expected to be together in a sentence.
And technically, they've had one Dragon Ball movie since Star/Hulu launched... Dragonball Evolution. Because it came with 20th Century Studios. Presumably, 20th Century are also the ones licensing Battle of Gods/Resurrection 'F'/Broly out to Crunchyroll?
Apparently not, as Anime Blu-ray UK are saying that it's the widescreen version with Japanese credits; and with the French dub available, which presumably wouldn't sync up to the Nicktoons cut. I'm guessing that the series was licensed from Toei Animation Inc and Toei Animation Europe in totally separate deals and the two of them handle their own materials. Interestingly, they seem to have removed the dubbed theme music since it was uploaded to Crunchyroll.Dragon Ball Ireland wrote: Sun May 17, 2026 8:22 pm Assuming this is a copy and paste of what Hulu got in the US its probably a mix of uncut episodes and Nicktoons variants.
Still no word on Daima's dub releasing over here, but having Kai on a mainstream service is good news for what it is.

I cant imagine Mr Popo being uncut without some sort of disclaimer or something. But stranger things have happened.LostTimeLord wrote: Mon May 18, 2026 12:29 pmSand Land and Bleach have both been Disney+ exclusives, so I can't say that I'm particularly surprised. Re: Dragon Ball Kai comes to Disney+ UK
From what I’ve read on Twitter, it seems to be a general policy that Toei Europe has implemented to keep the theme songs in their original Japanese versions. For example, songs that are dubbed in Catalan, Galician, and Basque were not included on the Z Kai Blu-ray released in Spain. Also, when I checked Crunchyroll, dub songs are still available in U.S and LatamLostTimeLord wrote: Mon May 18, 2026 12:29 pm Interestingly, they seem to have removed the dubbed theme music since it was uploaded to Crunchyroll.

I don't know, it still seems out of the ordinary for them to remove the existing recordings. The newly 'remastered' One Piece episodes on Netflix, which have several new European dubs and use purely Japanese footage, still retain the existing dubbed theme songs. Toei Europe are also credited on the recent dub of Digimon Ghost Game, which has a dubbed opening.M16U3L2015 wrote: Mon May 18, 2026 6:18 pm From what I’ve read on Twitter, it seems to be a general policy that Toei Europe has implemented to keep the theme songs in their original Japanese versions.
Re: Dragon Ball Kai comes to Disney+ UK
This is really cool to see, as Kai will get more exposure on Disney+, and it's arguably the best way to introduce newcomers to this franchise.
It would be cool to see more of the DB franchise on there, although Netflix would be an even better option.
I haven't had Disney+ for a while myself, but I have been meaning to renew it for the new Daredevil season, and the Malcolm in the Middle reunion.

Re: Dragon Ball Kai comes to Disney+ UK
Just checked again today and Disney+ has almost all the episodes, but interestingly they have the Japanese broadcast version of the Buu saga (which is 61 episodes, not 69) rather than The Final Chapters (although they have The Final Chapters OP and ED), that portion of the series is also labelled as Season 4 and Season 3 is the entire Android and Cell sagas. Japanese title cards are used.

With English dubbing? If so, then logically the opening and closing narrations should be different.Dragon Ball Ireland wrote: Sun May 24, 2026 4:50 am Just checked again today and Disney+ has almost all the episodes, but interestingly they have the Japanese broadcast version of the Buu saga (which is 61 episodes, not 69) rather than The Final Chapters (although they have The Final Chapters OP and ED), that portion of the series is also labelled as Season 4 and Season 3 is the entire Android and Cell sagas. The Funimation dub is there, that includes Doc Morgan's opening and closing narrations, but the Japanese OPs, EDs and title cards are used, theres none of the English variants.TheRed259 wrote: Sun May 24, 2026 10:08 amWith English dubbing? Re: Dragon Ball Kai comes to Disney+ UK
So are they basically showing the English dub of the Japanese version with the 61 episodes? I ask because the Japanese version of the first episodes ends at a different point than the international version, so perhaps the opening and ending narrations have been altered because of that?Dragon Ball Ireland wrote: Sun May 24, 2026 11:22 am The Funimation dub is there, that includes Doc Morgan's opening and closing narrations, but the Japanese OPs, EDs and title cards are used, theres none of the English variants.

Wait, so are the title cards narrated in Japanese, or does Doc Morgan announce an English episode title over an a Japanese caption with the 'correct' title?Dragon Ball Ireland wrote: Sun May 24, 2026 11:22 am The Funimation dub is there, that includes Doc Morgan's opening and closing narrations, but the Japanese OPs, EDs and title cards are used, theres none of the English variants.
I don't want to be rude, but is it definitely the Japanese broadcast edit? I know it sounds silly, but could there have been a mix up and they've actually uploaded The Final Chapters with eight episodes missing?

As LostTimeLord suggested its probably The Final Chapters with 8 episodes missing for whatever reason.TheRed259 wrote: Sun May 24, 2026 11:59 am So are they basically showing the English dub of the Japanese version with the 61 episodes? The title cards aren't narrated in Japanese, English episode titles are announced over Japanese captions with the correct titles. Think of how a hypothetical Dragon Box of Kai would have been presented on the dub track.LostTimeLord wrote: Sun May 24, 2026 12:13 pm Wait, so are the title cards narrated in Japanese, or does Doc Morgan announce an English episode title over an a Japanese caption with the 'correct' title?
Maybe there are 8 episodes missing from The Final Chapters. I didn't have time to spotcheck every episode, I just thought it was strange 61 episodes were there instead of 69. On second thought its probably not the Fuji TV edit.LostTimeLord wrote: Sun May 24, 2026 12:13 pmI don't want to be rude, but is it definitely the Japanese broadcast edit?
