Saiyan Civil War and Goku's Mother

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

What about Gohan and Piccolo that trained with him in three years, beating the crap out of eachother, mixing eachother's blood from their wounds?
Let's say Piccolo was a Namek, and that it wouldn't count, but Gohan was a Saiyan and a Human, so there is no way he would have not have gotten the virus too.
It could not be contagious until the virus stops being dormant.
That's not right either.
Example: HIV is the dormant version of the AIDS virus.
HIV is a contagious virus.
That's why they make a HIV-test before you donate blood.
True, most (if not all) Real World Earth viruses are contagious 24/7. But fiction has already produced multiple viruses that are only contagious during certain stages of their existance, or whos means of infection changes over the stages of their lives. Like the T-Virus shifting from air born to bodily fluid contact only.

So it's not hard to imagine that this virus, especially if you assume it to be an alien (most likely Yardratian) virus then it could simply burrow itself into the host and be nearly non-transmitable. Maybe it starts off as an STD and then goes air born?

Chi-Chi did take some of the medicine so even if he gave it to her in the process of making Goten she'd be good. XD

Huh. I don't have my Daizenshû with me (it's the seventh one, right?), so I can't check, but... Does somebody have a scan of that page?

Ugh...Another AIDS discussion. Why does this forum bring up a link between Dragonball and AIDS?

I don't have a scanner, but the sentence goes like this: 惑星ベジータにおいて、サイヤ人同士の内乱が多発。

Thanks!

Well, it sounds quite a bit less drastic than a "civil war" already...
I mean... "Nairan" could mean "civil war," technically... but here, with "tahatsu"? More like "internal disturbances," in my opinion...

"wakusei beji^ta nioite , saiya hitodoushi no nairan ga tahatsu."

That's what romaji.org got for me. Is that right?

How does 内戦 differ from 内乱?

内戦 seems to have somewhat stronger connotations than 内乱.

I seem to remember nairan being translated as "civil war" in Fullmetal Alchemist, I think. Wasn't it the "Ishvalan Civil War"? It's been so long since I've followed that series...

I thought it was the Ishvalan Rebellion (Ishbal Rebellion.) It's been a while since I watched my FMA DVDs or read any volume of the Viz manga.

Hmm, you're right, I think that's what the FUNimation had called it. I thought I remembered somebody calling it a "civil war." Bah, anyway, it was nairan in Japanese. I had never heard the word before, so I had to look it up when I used to read the manga.

Note: civil war is any large scale in-fighting. Rebellions are merely revolutions that failed to take place because the rebellion lost. In-fighting being caused by relations with Freeza breaking down kind of implies that these were politcal in nature.
