The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

GetGray is a DVD that contains calibration patterns for fixed pixel devices. It's got everything you need basically, but you need to know how to use the patterns to make the most of it. I moved to it after I learned how to use pluge patterns and the like.BrollysKin wrote:Corey, what's GetGray/THX RGB? I just got a new tv and would like to try some calibration programs. The Elite is one heck of a tv!
THX RGB filters are filters that you use with pluge patterns to make sure that your television is putting out the right shades of red, green and blue. By doing this, you assure that you are seeing the colors as intended.
And yeah, I love my television. It's not the latest or best, but I've had it for four years now and it has served me well. Hopefully in a few more years I can upgrade to a 1080p KURO set
Check your PM's, I sent more info.

Awesome setup, Wow you have an OPPO DVD player, I can't find it anywhere in the province of Manitoba, thought I was the only home theater buff here!watch all my DVD's on a Pioneer Elite PRO-910HD display that has been calibrated using GetGray and THX RGB filters. The DVD player is an Oppo DV-980H, outputting a 480i signal via HDMI to my Denon AVR-3808CI which deinterlaces and upscales it to 720p and goes to the television via HDMI. It's all setup to main OAR also, no noise reduction etc.

I have a 52' LCD Toshiba Regza 60hz, "Samsung" 1080p upconverting DVD player, "Yamaha" 6.1 receiver, and 5.1 surround sound "Energy" Floor-standing speaker system. My next project will be buying a front end projector with an panamorph lens and a 2.40:1 screen for all my OAR needs!

I mainly stuck it in here because of Vegeta's eye colour. It seems more natural than the other images we have seen.

Why is the resolution on this pic so high? These DVDs are 480P!
Also, SSJToretos screen is fine. That's what it looks like.

Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.
DB DBox color corrections & DBox color corrections.

I think the res is so high because DBHD is the same guy on youtube who upconverts and then rips it.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
Yeah, I was referring to the grain. But, for example, when scaling down the first image posted to the size of the one you posted, it doesn't appear to have any of the same grain; at least not as much of it.SSJToreto wrote:I took this image straight from the DVD via VLC player...Tweaker wrote:Maybe it's your rip of the DVD (if you even ripped it), but that doesn't look anywhere near as clean as the first image.
What do you mean by "clean"? If you're talking about the video grain, then that's always there...
But if your screen is how it's supposed to be, then fair enough, I guess. Why does the first screen look different, though?

Tweak, lemme try and explain. FUNi outsourced to a local company in Texas for its remasters, which did a Lowry-ish process through the computer - only, rather than delete the dirt, this automated process ended up removing most of the grain. We call that DVNR.
Whereas in Japan, their masters were first-generation - thus, the degeneration found in funimation's was less. Then, TOEi - going through a company called Pony Canyon - carried out a full frame-by-frame remaster, rather than just an automated process.
Oh yeah, and the aspect ratio is different; but that's another story.

No offence guys but I have to agree with ect5150 here since Season 6's brightness in this boxset was turned way down, and in some scenes there even seems to be a blue tint to it "Most noticable when the Cell JRs appeared. It's almost like I see a patten in this which goes...ect5150 wrote:

Season 1: Over contrasted
Season 2: Over contrasted
Season 3: Very close to what Dragonbox looks like as said by many here and me seeing it for myself aswell.
Season 4: Over contrasted
Season 5: Over contrasted
Season 6: Under contrasted as in looking far too dark *almost has the same issue as what the Pokemon Heroes DVD suffered from*
And finally:
THIS

looks way better than:
THIS

I mean like how can anyone say the colours look right when you've got super saiyans having blue eyes instead of green
