If Kanji's your problem, just read the Japanese manga. They have Furigana to help you in that scenario.Krakabeast wrote:I'm sure there is a handful of dub fans on the forums that would care to disagree, including me. I admit that I've thrown hundreds or maybe a grand into FUNi's pocket, but I don't particularly like what they have done and what they're still doing with the series. Until I take the time to study Japanese, this will be the format I will have to stick with since, I cannot fully enjoy Dragonball in it's original format. FUNi could blow me if I knew Kanji.Raki wrote:Since most dub fans don't care about 4:3 or Dragonbox, why should it matter. Funi's already made so much money off this franchise already. We deserve something to show that we aren't being totally ignored.Kendamu wrote: At least with this set it can't be fixed.
They could fix it with another release, but that would probably make the dub fans mad.

As MagicBox said, HD isn't limited to widescreen. HD simply means high definition. Nothing more. There CAN be shows presented in 4:3 in HD.Innagadadavida wrote:The series needs to be updated for high-def and I'd prefer they crop the picture so that I don't have to zoom in and get a blurry pixelated picture on my TV.
Also, I find it funny that you bring up the zooming issues since some of those remastered sets were zoomed in on.

I think he was referring to the fact that HD 4:3 on an HDTV would be pillarboxed. In order to avoid that, he would have to zoom in on the picture and lose some vertical picture anyway.Tsukento wrote:As MagicBox said, HD isn't limited to widescreen. HD simply means high definition. I find that argument as silly as the "Widescreen movies don't fill up my 4:3 TV."Kendamu wrote:I think he was referring to the fact that HD 4:3 on an HDTV would be pillarboxed. Be grateful the filler in Dragon Ball doesn't suck like the 3rd arc of Rurouni Kenshin.

How many seasons total will there be? 9 or 10?

There should be 9, since the Kid Buu saga is short. I don't see how FUNi could sell the Fusion saga and Kid Buu saga separately if they're trying to fit as much as they can within each set.Kendamu wrote:I dunno. Gohan: At least he doesn't have his sword out anymore.
Kuririn: Yeah, and your dad put his finger away too.

But...if kanji were his problem, shouldn't he just watch the anime? There's no kanji in spoken dialogue. Unless he was just had to understand the episode titles, but even there they've always got furigana.Kendamu wrote:If Kanji's your problem, just read the Japanese manga. The Japanese manga is a cheaper alternative to the Dragon Box singles that can help you learn Kanji through the use of Furigana, thus solving his problems with FUNimation and with Kanji.Herms wrote:But...if kanji were his problem, shouldn't he just watch the anime? I'd say 10. According to this Yahoo Japan auction Season 1 through 8 have 219 episodes on them. That leaves 72 episodes left after Season 8. FUNimation isn't going to give us a 72 episode set. So, we'll be getting 10 sets.Dayspring wrote:How many seasons total will there be? 9 or 10?

I just checked my Season 7 set, and it ends at episode 219. So, I'm guessing that the remaining 72 episodes will be split between Seasons 8 and 9.Kendamu wrote:I'd say 10. Seriously, they could put a picture of giant dolphin on the cover and people will still buy it because of the logo.Raki wrote:They work on shows that require actual effort to sell. The cover art for a Dragonball Z release means nothing to the casual DeeBeeZee viewer. All they want is there favorite childhood show on DVD at a cheap price. This ain't a Lupin the 3rd movie or Spiral or Fruits Basket cause those shows require actually effort in order for a profit to be made. The treatment of Dragonball by Funi is the result of the franchise being cursed with big popularity.Krakabeast wrote:We're not complaining.
