Yeah, me and my friends used to role play using both chat and forum. They were a bit different to this, not so many rules or goals (other than to be fun), but yeah.

By the way, it's pretty easy to set up your own PHPbb forum if you want your own place to host something like this. We had one of Createphpbb.com which will host the forum for you so you don't need your own server or anything. Very easy to set up and ours still exists after having fallen out of regular use for years.

It sounds interesting, but if we could do it here that'd be very cool. If we're not allowed we should try that :p
In any case I think I'm going to be making the board today. We'll see how far I'll get :p

Well, one reason to not do it here is not to use up this forum's bandwidth faster than usual. I'm not sure if it would, but it might be something Mike will consider. Other forums sometimes ban role playing type stuff for that reason.

Oh I haven't thought about that at all :o Good point. Especially since it keeps getting earlier and earlier that the bandwith limit of the forum is reached at the end of the month.

Yeah, I've noticed that too. What with the Jump special and all the news about the movie getting out, I think there's been a lot more traffic than usual.

Right, so I did the Earth map:
Image

Places where you can do stuff:

Kame House: Train for Kamehameha.
Baba's Temple: Train, maybe if you get one day (or 5 turns) extra for one of your players if they're dead :p would be fun, but maybe a bit too much.
Karin Tower: Training.
Kami's Palace: Better training. The red spaces mean you need the Nyoibo/Power Pole item to get there.
Room of Spirit & Time: Even better training. The room of Spirit & Time can be locked off for good if Kami's Palace is destroyed.
Mountains: Train for Mafuba.
West City: Maybe training for one of Vegeta's attacks?

I can't find what other places had techniques that need a place, but if anyone can help me, these are the attacks I still need to put somewhere:
Destructo Disc (or the Japanese name)
Dodonpa
Ki Ko Ho
Solar Flare
Big Bang Attack
Final Flash

(There's also a Namek, Space and Afterlife map coming (space and afterlife might become 1) But in any case mostly normal attacks with no extra effect are just... well names pretty much with some varying stats, but nothing extremely interesting. Solar Flare, Mafuba, Body Change, Instant Transmission, Instantaneous Movement and Fusion Dance are pretty much the only interesting attacks, the rest is just beam or whatever, though you need an attack to destroy a planet or anything else.

Yep, I still have that game and usually play it at least one time every year during a day when I'm really bored.

Never had that, but I think I owned a Digimon game that was very similar.

Destructo Disk (or Kienzan) was invented by Kuririn at some point before the Saiyajin fight, so the first time it was seen was...that...place in the middle of nowhere where they fought Nappa.

Dodonpa was first seen at the bottom of Korin's tower, but I don't know where the Crane school teachers it. Same with Kikoho and solar flare (taiyo-ken), which was seen in one of the tournaments. Maybe the tournament grounds should be a location on Earth?

Papaya island is the location of the tournament :p I too have absolutely no idea where the Crane School is supposed to be located :S Destructo Disk and Spirit Ball would seem to be something they learned while training with Mr. Popo and Kami I guess... However I kind of don't like to have multiple attacks on one spot when most attacks are virtually the same anyway (just energy blasts with different names). So is it really needed to include the attacks from the above list?

An idea may be to divide it into the type of technique you learn, and then depending on your character, you can call it what you want.

For example, instead of learning the Kamehame Ha at Kame House, you just learn an energy beam attack and you can call it the Kamehame Ha if you want, or the Dodonpa or the Garyiku Hou and so on. They all do the same thing, but the different names add flavour.

This way, you don't have to have multiple attacks on one spot, but everyone won't be going around with the exact same list either.

Good be a good idea... We did toy a bit with the idea of training in any spot you like (it wouldn't be super duper training tho) and you could train to make your own technique. We actually made a complete system on which we could in effect create any attack that was in the show, but we NEVER used it, cause you really... just don't waste your time creating new attacks.

Your idea, however, would be different of course. But I think it's kind of weird not learning Kamehameha at Kame house. I wonder what other people think about that :p We could do it if more people want.

Whoops. Papaya Island. Right.

It does seem weird to go to Kame House and not learn the Kamehameha, but it's an interesting idea.

For the Namek map I kinda need some help. We did a map based on... well pretty much nothing, cause there is no map of Namek anywhere at all as far as I know, so we made it up a bit based on the series.

However, what we do now is Namek has 6 villages at least with Dragonballs. Guru has the seventh one (or first one).

In any case we did it like this:

Guru's tower
Guru's village (don't know if this is a mistranslation, but Guru's village was the one not to return from the dead, because they were killed by Vegeta, right?)
Dende's village
Nail's village
Moori's village (that's the one to succeed Guru, right?)
Adjasah Plantage (the plants they grow, but don't eat, at least they call them that in the dub, don't know about the original)
Sacred Temple
Spaceport

So... it's a bit weird maybe for them to have a Temple and a Spaceport... Anyone have any other ideas of places they might have? Maybe Kotatsu's village? (he's the guy who's son went to Earth and became Kami and Piccolo, right?).

Just to butt in again (sorry I don't do much else!). One of the Budokai (or was it Budokai Tenkaichi...) games, whichever one allowed you to roam world maps, has a decent fabricated Namek map, with land marks and everything you could base things off if you really wanted to.

No, that's great Sprite Satan :p Is there anyway I can see an actual map of that? I'm gonna google search too tho. In any case, it's a good idea :p

EDIT: I found a quick glance in a youtube review of Budokai 3 over here
http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=ictc95_ZR ... re=related
It's at 2:58. But I don't have that game, maybe if I happen to find it cheap somewhere I'll buy it, but if someone could provide the locations on that map or maybe an even more accurate map that'd be great :D

Yamcha first uses the Sokidan at the 23rd Tenkaichi Budoukai actually, so he learned it long before his training with Kami and Popo, though possibly during his training with Karin in preparating for the 23rd TB. Though there's no official source for where the Crane School is, since Tenshinhan, Chaozu, and Tao Pai Pai all have pseudo-Chinese names, I'd suggest placing it in the east, somewhere relatively near Goku's house, since that part of the world seems to have a Chinese feeling to it in the series.

That's Tsuno's village you're thinking of. Saichourou doesn't have a village of his own, just that house on top of the mountain.
Dende's village
Nail's village
Moori's village (that's the one to succeed Guru, right?)[/quote]
Dende's village is the same place as Muri's village (who you're right in thinking was the one to become the next Saichourou), and Nail doesn't have a village, he lives with Saichourou.
Maybe Kotatsu's village? (he's the guy who's son went to Earth and became Kami and Piccolo, right?).
[/b]
Katatsu. Though he should be dead, since Saichourou was the only one to survive the natural disaster back then.
Kanzenshuu: Is that place still around?
