Episode #0185! VegettoEX, Meri, Julian, and Jeff dive into volume 29 in our "Manga Review of Awesomeness". Toriyama has genuinely kicked-off a new story arc... but not without some input from his previous editor. Are we being kept on our toes, or is Toriyama writing himself into a hole? More FUNimation Dragon Box reactions, August's releases, tons of great e-mails, and more round out the episode! Referenced sites:
Go ahead and grab it. Big thanks to
godofchaos for hosting the interesting *one-hundred-eighty-five* episodes, now.
Well, it was an adventure in a new way to record and edit... and I'll probably never do it again. Hopefully it's mostly transparent for all of you, though.
w0rd.

Just finished listening to it. I have to say it's interesting the things brought up in Herms notes that you guys read. I didn't know that about Toriyama's editor saying that about 19 and 20. Now every time I see 19 and 20 I'll just call them "fatso" and "geezer".
I'm also glad that Julian mentioned Terminator stuff though some of the sound was off (was it is his mic?) so I couldn't hear it too well but it reminds me of when my friends and I would talk about the similarities between this saga and Terminator.
Oh, and hearing "I will break you" I can't help but thinking of Goku squaring off against Rocky Balboa.

I'll come up with something clever. Just not now.

Pretty good Manga discussion. I heard (somewhere) about 19 and 20 not being the villains that Toriyama's editor wanted, and made him change it. But it was a complete surprise to me that Trunks actually said in the Manga that it was 19 and 20, not 17 and 18 that destroyed the future. It would have been cool if Trunks did the same mistake in the Anime, but I don't feel like checking.

Next quest: Buy the Super: Broly and Super Hero Blurays, also Daima whenever that releases in the states. Also the Super Manga!
Fan of Dragon Ball Z and various other Anime since '98! ^^

I'm pretty sure that their numbers weren't mentioned in the anime, thus avoiding the plot hole.
edit: Hey, I object! It was Hujio who said the "bitch-slapped" line, not Julian!

Holy crap, you're right...!
Herms totally just turned around and bitch-slapped Randy and Julian. And the rest of us.

For aditional record, the Chinese edition of the Kanzenban changed the numbers from 19 & 20 to 17 & 18 when Trunks gave his warnings to Goku.
If the editors said nothing about Fatso & Geezer, do you think the story might be a little different?

T'is a good question, and one that Meri and I were struggling to answer on our own yesterday.

So, did anyone follow the

It's not so much NSFW as it is "

So, I just finished listening to the podcast (DBK 16 and 17 are next on my list of things to catch-up on)... and the "bitch-slap" line fiasco mentioned in the above post makes much more sense. I'm just glad that Julian was so confused about the whole thing, 'cause the whole time I was thinking "What... the... Hell...?!" I demand you correct this in the next episode!
I must have one of those voices, because so far I've been confused for both Herms and Julian. Mike, I guess you're next!

I just hope I'm never confused for Meri, because then we'd have a problem, or at least I will.

Oh my god... That's just so wrong.
I always thought Buu was a bit of a dickhead sometimes, but this is ridiculous!

There is no set date. It's not up to me... it's up to
them to be ready. The invite's out there, the invite's accepted, and all I need from them is a date to do it. There are no secrets being kept here... I'll let you know when it's coming.

That makes it four future topics for the Podcast
1- Yamcha's story
2- Battle Power
3- Interview with FUNimation's Rep
4- Kami's discussion

Oh, there's more than that right now. There are about 8-10 topics pretty much ready to go, although one depends on Julian actually sending Mike the JSAT DVD.
