Maybe this is a silly thought, but could DBZ AMV's get targeted by Toei, since footage is being used? I shouldn't think so but i thought it was a thing worth mentioning.

We can only hope seeing as how about 4% of AMVs on Youtube are of any worth.mysteriousdbzgt wrote:Maybe this is a silly thought, but could DBZ AMV's get targeted by Toei, since footage is being used? I shouldn't think so but i thought it was a thing worth mentioning.

Yeah, I suppose your right. I guess only the really popular DBZ AMV's could get targeted, but there aren't that many.NeptuneKai wrote:We can only hope seeing as how about 4% of AMVs on Youtube are of any worth.mysteriousdbzgt wrote:Maybe this is a silly thought, but could DBZ AMV's get targeted by Toei, since footage is being used? Since most AMVs use both copyrighted video and audio material, I would imagine there's double the risk of them being copyright claimed.mysteriousdbzgt wrote:Maybe this is a silly thought, but could DBZ AMV's get targeted by Toei, since footage is being used? In my opinion, I think this is over for now. I've been on youtube since like 2006. Youtube is a site that I go to everyday and I have been noticing that Toei does crackdown on DBZ for like every 4-6 months. So its probably over for now until like months to come. I wonder what toei would do if they saw my HQ stereo DBGT unreleased BGM.
I went through frame-by-frame and cut us out of the image :pChuquita wrote:Kuhan wrote:...I have a feeling YouTube isn't going to like this either:

Your green-screen editing skills are amazing. O_O (Or whatever type of technique you used to seamlessly super-impose backgrounds behind you).
But seriously, I have a REALLY crappy greenscreen, but I found a great method to use it
I understand. The reason that I used that logo is that when I searched Toei Animation, that's the only decent sized picture I could find and the caption said Toei animation Co. I kept looking, but that's all I could find.Hujio wrote:Alright folks, I'm short on sleep, but I feel I have to make this post because I'm getting a little pissed. Now I don't normally rant, but seriously, what the fuck are some of you people thinking? Just because you have access to the internet doesn't mean you have to do completely stupid things on it. I have no idea why, but I've seen most of the videos people are posting about TeamFourStar's account suspesion on YouTube. I even posted a comment to a video Kuhan posted:
[continues on with incredibly intelligent well thought-out post]Hujio wrote:Um... I won't actually respond to the subject of the video, but I'm curious why you used the logo for "Majin Kaiser"? That's not a company, it's a mecha OVA series. Besides, "Majin Kaiser" wasn't even produced by Toei, the company responsible for removing TFS from YouTube. However, the OVA was broadcast and distributed by Bandai. Is that the DragonBall-related company angle you were looking for?
I DID do a fairly well thought-out and researched video, but I need to greenscreen it first.

I think we can write it all off as them being 'jealous' of the popularity of TFS and all the attnetion it was gettin. Funimation didnt make a big fuss about things but noooo Toei thinks they are so high and mighty and now thousands of us are going to have to go without season 2 of Abrindged.
I hope ghost nappa is taing care of things right NOW!
I hope ghost nappa is taing care of things right NOW!
Erm, I doubt that. They're not going to stop making and publishing the videos. The very worst-case-scenario is that they might have to put them somewhere other than YouTube.LeprikanGT wrote:now thousands of us are going to have to go without season 2 of Abrindged.

As has been brought up time and time again, I'm sure it was nothing more than a case of (1) content identified, (2) content receiving thousands of hits, (3) content take-down request.
I doubt they even viewed the content; these companies rarely do.

johnboy1 wrote:Actually, considering it's a parody that only uses small portions of the source material, I think it would hold up just fine.
I don't think you quite understand the meaning of copyright infringement. If you use any copyrighted materials, be it even a simple clip for a parody video, and widely distribute it without having consent from the parent copyright holder, they can have it deleted due to copyright infringement. There's no "It's a parody, so it's all good" clause in the law. Now, some companies just don't care or don't pay any attention to YouTube. A company does have the option to not do anything, but they still have the legal right to get things removed at any point they feel like doing so.Dr. Casey wrote:What I'm curious about is why the parody argument doesn't hold up. Are parodies allowed only when they don't directly use the original material (ie, a Matt Groening-drawn Donkey Kong showing up in an episode of The Simpsons vs. TeamFourStar using actual clips from Dragon Ball Z in the Abridged series)? Does seem like kind of a dick move for TeamFourStar to be deleted without warning over a legal gray area regardless, though. They could've at least been given an advance notice.
As far as anime music videos are concerned, most companies typically turn a blind eye because AMVs have evolved into something much larger than TeamFourStar. Can you imagine the outcry of AMV editors if all their videos were taken down across the entire internet? I mean, besides the fact that that's impossible, that is not a group I would want to piss off. Also, how many AMVs on YouTube are even that popular?mysteriousdbzgt wrote:Maybe this is a silly thought, but could DBZ AMV's get targeted by Toei, since footage is being used? If you go to Google Image and just search "Toei" (be sure to put it in quotes), you should get two Toei logos right away. At least that's what I get.Kuhan wrote:The reason that I used that logo is that when I searched Toei Animation, that's the only decent sized picture I could find and the caption said Toei animation Co. I kept looking, but that's all I could find.
I understand why people are so upset, but there's a better way to go about these things. Besides, has anyone that posted these videos even considered the fact that TeamFourStar can just post their parody videos elsewhere. There are other video sharing sites besides YouTube. Hell, they could even make their own site. The only thing would be that if they did that, there's no middle man. Think about it; if Toei decided to go after them again, they wouldn't have YouTube in the way, they could just go straight after the TFS guys directly. You see, YouTube is actually the company Toei went after, since they're the ones technically distributing the copyrighted content. As a company YouTube is saving their own ass by suspending their account, which makes me wonder why people are so upset with YouTube.

Thank you Hujio. To be honest, and I had a huge Skype discussion on this, we thought that it was a little immature of InnagadadaDBZ to flip off and threaten Toei like that, especially since he made that such a widespread campaign on YouTube.Hujio wrote: [*]"Dragon Ball Z Abridged is amazing. Fuck you Toei!" Yeah, that'll help get your show back... And they'll have to listen to you now, because you just told them they're a bunch of fuckers.
[*]There's one video (you know who you are!) that shows a gun pointing at Toei's logo and blood flying out the other side, like it has been shot. Then at the end you say, "...kindly show your support by sending Toei Animation a message telling them just how unhappy their viewers are." Yes, kindly shoot Toei with a gun. That'll send a message.
[*]"TeamFourStar was one of the hugest channels on the entire YouTube universe." It's the hugest!! And it is located "on" a universe!... Nice one.
[*]"So YouTube goes and suspends one of the most influential parody channels in the entire universe, and possibly the entire internet." Okay, are you implying the internet, something that has no actual volume or mass, is larger than the entire universe? I can't even touch this one, let alone the rest of the video.[/list]
While I sarcastically applaud you all for your efforts, if you really want to voice your complaints, write Toei a respectful e-mail or letter telling them why you think they should allow TeamFourStar to continue using their copyrighted material. However, I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you.
Toei Animation is a highly respected Japanese company that made Dragon Ball Z AND has the complete right to do anything on YouTube they want to in regards to their copyrighted content.

Yeah, that would be a very stupid move if they did start targeting towards AMV's. A lot of people would be very angry and Toei would just have more problems to deal with.hujio wrote:As far as anime music videos are concerned, most companies typically turn a blind eye because AMVs have evolved into something much larger than TeamFourStar. A lot of people don't seem to know what they're talking about. That sucks
For the record, plenty of AMVs have been removed from not only YouTube, but other sites. This includes several of my own.
Wind-Up Records sent A-M-V.org a C&D back in 2005.
In these cases, it's usually the *music* copyright holder that goes for the take-down, since it's almost always the music being digitally duplicated and transmitted in its entirety with little-to-no degradation in quality.
The most-viewed entry for an AMV Hell video that's still available on the site has over 2 million views. "AMV Hell" has essentially become a genre in-and-of-itself since Brian & Alan did the first one in 2004 (any time you see a video that's just a series of short scenes with footage and sound sources trying to be funny with each other that blip or cut away to each other... yeah, they're all takes on ONE video series these two guys did).
The upload of Koop's "Skittles" video with the most views has over 3 million.
Regardless, you could say that about anything. But yes, it's true.

Not sure where the actual video is on YouTube, anymore (as in the original posted by the creator, himself), but for a period of time, "Real Ninjas" was something like one of the most-viewed videos on YouTube it its entirety, period.Hujio wrote:Also, how many AMVs on YouTube are even that popular?
