Which of course means, Julian, start buying WYJ so we can figure out exactly what this story is!

Toriyama + Katusura = New Mini-Series
Well, it seems Anime News Network has posted up a rather interesting announcement. It seems Akira Toriyama and Masakazu Katsura are gonna work together again, and on December 10 in Weekly Young Jump, they'll premeire a new mini-series called Jiya. And while it's not directly Dragonball related, it'll certainly be nice to see Toriyama write new manga.

I do remember reading their previous collaboration; you could definitely tell he was the writer behind it.
To my knowledge, yes.
That's the one I read.
On hiatus.

As I recall a collaboration between these two was announced long ago. I remember freaking out cause I"s is my favorite manga of all time (with DB as my 2nd favorite) and for the author to be collaborating with Akira Toriyama was nothing short of wonderful for me. I'll see if I can find the announcement but I do know that the same announcement came with this picture

EDIT-Wait nevermind. I believe I'm talking about the announcement for Sachie-chan GUU. I never heard anything else about the collaboration between the two authors so I just assumed it had been forgotten until now. I didn't know that had done one before this. Apologies to all. Just ignore this post

Well, first of all, it'll premiere in Weekly Young Jump, not Weekly Shounen Jump. Incidentally, YJ is what Katsura's current series "Zetman" is being published in. Secondly, Herms hasn't been in Japan since the beginning of August.VenomSymbiote wrote:Well, it seems Anime News Network has posted up a rather interesting announcement. I'd say more, but you can just read my update. Bed time!

Speaking of which, you might want to update the FAQ page to reflect this.Hujio wrote:Secondly, Herms hasn't been in Japan since the beginning of August.
Kanzenshuu: Is that place still around?

We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason.

After reading Sachie-chan Guu!!!, it looks like Jiya will be a spinoff of that universe. It looks like it will concentrate on the Galaxy Patrol that was mentioned on that one-shot. It's another collaboration where Toriyama pens the story and Katsura does the artwork with what looks like his style with Toriyama aesthetics, but that's just going by what I've read in Sachie-chan . I'd imagine Jiya will look similar in style. For Toriyama-inspired Katsura works, DNA^2 is a good read. But my favorite Katsura work goes to Zetman, a mix of seinen and shonen. Just an awesome read all around.

I've read Video Girl Ai and Katsura is a wonderfully talented mangaka. The violent scenes in his manga (I assure you, even his "romantic" stories turn dark at points) are wonderfully executed and it made me wonder why he chose the romance genre over anything else. But bravo!
