Episode #0211! VegettoEX, Meri, Julian, and Jeff dive into Volume 33 in our "Manga Review of Awesomeness". No fights truly come to a conclusion, and our heroes end up taking some time for themselves. Was this a necessary transition period to get everyone where they need to be? Some brief news, all of March's releases, and some great e-mails from our listeners (including the on-going aspect ratio debate!) round out the show. Also... Cell has a tiny, pointy nose. Go ahead and grab it. Big thanks to godofchaos for hosting the never-thought-we'd-get-there *two-hundred-eleven* episodes, now.

Oh man, Viz's comments beneath panels trying to get people to buy Graphic Novels were the best. I wish I still had my old issues.

Oh, yeah... Like in YuYu Hakusho chapter 2 of the Saga of The three Kings ((Issue 3 2009))...

Those three dudes came and said: "We've come here from the Demon Plane." And the comment below the page says: "We've come to tell you about shonenjump.com It's cool!" 8)

The same issue, One Piece ch. 40 of the Arabasta arc.

Zoro says: "That's too bad. I can't cut steel yet so... I can't defeat you." And the comment says: "Defeat your manga woes - subscribe to Shonen Jump!"

But here's my favorite one... it's from issue 4 2009, and from YuYu Hakusho.

Yusuke is talking with his... dad...?! and they fight... the comment says: "Talking to your father like that well result in less money for manga!"

They are hilarious sometimes and are fun to read.

--

For the suggestion... You've did it once in the past, and you'll do it again with Jeff. I think it's better to do both the chapter and the TV special in one go or it'll be a redundant topic, and to make sure not to forget anything... especially if you'd compare the two together.

Oh right. What we asked about.

We are discussing "TRUNKS: THE STORY" and the TV special in the same episode. It's a question of whether you want it next week (actually it might have to be the week after that), or as the first episode in April as its own "____ Review of Awesomeness".

Basically... sooner, or later?

Sooner would be nice, barring nothing explodes in the next couple of weeks (both in terms of news and equipment).

I have to agree with the sentiments, this is an volume where not a whole lot feels like it happens, but stuff does. The plot sets up for the next two volumes and then it is straight-up fighting from there on out, really.

((That's what happen when you do multiple things at the same time  ))

The sooner the better. You don't want the thing with Yamcha's episode to happen again, right?

Do they not mention Jimmy Firecracker in the manga?

No, that's a Funi dub name. The character has no real name in the manga (both Japanese and English) or the Japanese anime.

Oh, interesting, I never knew that yet 'Jimmy Firecracker' is my by far favorite name in the whole series.

I vote 'next month'. Let the next "MROA" be just the Trunks Story and TV Special - and how about the "side story"?

We might mention the side-story in passing, but because we already did a full episode dedicated to it, I don't want to spend too much time on it with this go-'round.

My current thought is to do "TRUNKS: THE STORY" / TVSP#2 in two weeks (with an interview being the meat of the show next week). At the same time, I'm not sure how people feel about Content Reviews of Awesomeness being so close together, so I'd still love to hear what you all think.

Well it depends on what else is on the menu sir but I personally wouldn't mind a Content Review myself...

I was actually wondering if you'd get Jeff to read it - I don't think we, the listeners, need an explanation on it again.

Well there are some similarities ( betwenn Infinite World Shop theme and Babidi's theme) but, to be honest most music is a variation on a particular tempo, chord, or combination of both. To say that one thing copied from another (except in certain situations where it is blatantly obvious, not in this one though) I think is jumping the gun. Maybe inspiration was drawn from it, I don't know, you have to ask Kenji Yamamoto to really know.

Babidi's Theme : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Bb8o20v ... re=related

I'll have to take a sample of it, but there is a VERY similar track that's been used in Project Runway the last couple episodes, too... 8)

I think it's all just a coincidence of composers and jingle-writers all coming up with a similar note progression and programming.

Vegetto Ex: Your podcast is awesome! I have great pleasure to listen to it. But there's a segment of your show that I can't stand: when you're narrating a dragonball manga (like you do this week for volume 33). Just my two cents....but I think it's very pointless since most of your audience are DBZ fans so have certainly already read it. I have the feeling that you're reading it for blind people....

Hope not feel too rude  Like I told you, I'm very a loyal follower and it's good stuff but that's the only thing that I found boring...

Anyway great works! Thanks to keep Dragonball alive for more than 12 years!!!

We actually tried doing it without the summary one episode (anyone remember which one?), and the overwhelming response from the audience was that people preferred keeping it in. The consensus was that it brought everyone back up to speed (especially if they weren't actively reading along), and it actually helped the hosts remember and pick up on more of the minute details. Our analysis definitely wasn't up-to-snuff that episode, and we were very aware of it. That's why we still do it every time we review the manga :).

Mike's "ARGH FUCK!" at the end had me laughing for ages haha.

Great review as usual, as for the Trunks story thing, it would be cool if you guys included it briefly next month unless news and releases get real busy as they are bound to soon. Is it possible for anyone to post a picture of that 2-page spread? :D. I'm buying the whole manga in order and I just want to see it so bad now that it's been described as sexy, awesome, magnificent!
