Female Saiyans

Post by DBZ_1997 » Tue Mar 23, 2010 9:04 am

I was just wondering if anyone would of liked to see a female such as Pan or Bulla turn Super Saiyan?

Akira Toriyama supposedly stated his reason for never having any female Super Saiyans was that neither Pan nor Bulla had the incentive to transform, and that he never drew female Super Saiyans because he couldn't figure out what they would look like.

Apart from Pan or Bulla not having the incentive to transform. It's interesting to think of how Akira would have created a female Saiyan either with features of a Saiyan male or something completely new, I'm curious, would you give a female Saiyan the same features or what? Or even hate the idea of a female Saiyan?

Myself, illd be happy if their features were the same. During the time Trunks spent in the hyperbolic time chamber his hair grew to about the same length of Bulla's and his appearance wasn't bad as a Super Saiyan so long hair is not a problem.

I don't want to, there's too much of Super Saiyans already.

I've always hated the name Bulla. Grr... Every time I see it, I think someone's misspelled Bulma.

Anyway, the only time it would have really worked would have been in GT, and by then it wouldn't really have mattered. A Super Saiyan couldn't do much against any of the villains, but I guess it would have been interesting to see. And the only one I think ever could have was Pan. I don't think Bra ever exactly cared about the fighting.

Dunno. But the idea of the female Saiyan as a concept intrigues me quite a lot.

I've always wondered why were there so few of them? The only one that actually comes to mind is the Saiyan female from Bardock's team and a couple of others from the bar at the end of the Special. I mean, did the Saiyans just use them for breeding mainly? Not that I'd be surprised, but... just thought there should've been more. And vicious sexy babes is viciously sexy, so more of that wouldn't hurt. Oh well, it is what it is I suppose. :)

I'm honestly surprised the name filter isn't in effect for this name...

But, seriously, everyone knows that Lunch is the only female Super Saiya-jin we see in the series! Due to some genetic anomaly, she could undergo the transformation just by sneezing and even had powers that "regular" Super Saiya-jin didn't, like the ability to utilize Hammerspace! But the Saiya-jin, being rock-stupid bastards, didn't recognize her as the prodigy that she was, clipped off her tail, and sent her to earth to be rid of her. Then, about a decade later, they'd forgotten they had done this and sent the baby Kakarrotto off to earth as well. Toriyama told me on the phone because he's my cousin's best friend, don'tchaknow! Oh, but then he forgot.

DBO has female super saiyajins. There's even a video that shows you what all the hairstyles (both male and female) look like in ssj: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fN2saXi-dCg

(Yes, I know technically it's just the ssj transformation and the characters are supposed to be like 99% human with just a tiny diluted bit of saiyajin blood in them, but I don't know what else to call it.)
On hiatus.

I never understood how females as super saiyans seemed like uncharted territory because "a super saiyan's features are more male oriented." Aside from the muscle mass gain, which really is only noticeable when they're transforming and you literally see them pump up, there's not much else. Just hair spiking up and turning gold with the eyes turning emerald green. I don't see any issue with that at all.

As for Pan not having any incentive to transform, I call shenanigans. There were plenty of times Pan seemed so overwhelmed that, despite it probably not doing much, a Super Saiyan transformation seemed in order. I always felt that explanation was just a cop out from Toei. As for Bra, yeah she didn't seem like she was ever interested in fighting and Vegeta never seemed to care as much about his princess being a fighter as much as his prince and technical heir to the Saiyan throne. Vegeta was clearly a big softy for his little girl.

I'm glad DBO gives us female Super Saiyans. I just hate how the hair styles are hardly as spiked as the male designs. That could be because the long hair is weighed down, but what about Trunks?

Yeah, I really like the designs for the female Super Saiyans in DBO. They're probably the closest to anything we'll get that's official of it, too. Their hair kind of sticks up like my own.

I would have loved to see pan go SSJ xD The only way I would want to see it though is if she transormed the right way. You know, getting really pissed then transforming. I don't want to see anymore saiya-jins who just scratch there butts then next thing you know there SSj ( like goten and trunks )

I agree, there's no reason their hair shouldn't follow the same rules, gender shouldn't make a difference, IMO.

I think the depiction of SSJ Pan from "Dragonball Multiverse" would be more or less how I'd imagine it would be:

I think it's pretty obvious the reason we've never seen any female Super Saiyan is the same we've never seen any female fighter (that actually mattered in the long run). It's got everything to do with the author/his editor/the publisher/the readers/the shônen "genre", and little to do with in-universe factors.

I'm reasonably sure he never actually said that.

Well, I'm completely confident your reason-ability is right on in this case.

Thats true and as a few people have stated and I agree that Pan had many times in which she could have taken it to the next level.

Nope because they're women. Pathetic and weak, weak women. Eventually they'll both stop training and become house wives, which is their true purpose in life. If I learned anything from watching DB, it was women and humans eventually can't do shit.

I'd say their true purpose was to have children. Super Saiyan children.
Oh, hey, Vegeta needs to have kids. Bulma, you're it.

If Toriyama was to draw a female Super Saiyan, I'd want it to look like this:

It's something I posted in the Fan-Created Works a while ago. I always liked it because, while she still had all the masculine features you would expect from a female Saiyan, she still looked sexy. :P

Eh, he said that he himself would like Toriyama to have it drawn in that way. What's wrong with that?
