I want to like this more, really. It seems like they're actually putting an effort in- Krillin particularly sounds... good. But then Sabat opens his mouth and starts yacking and I get nightmarish flashbacks to season 3 and I'm like a damn Nam vet, screeching bloody murder and hurling things at the monitor. I'm just gonna have to give up on this, he makes me too bloody angry =__=

I do want to get to hear Bulma and Gohan though when we get real clips from them- they're new people, I've got no standing biases against them and they could be pretty good.

Thought Sabat sounded fine.

Hell, everyone sounded good.

Nappa sounded more like Takahata101 than his actual VA though, lol.

Not that it's a bad thing

I really, really, really dislike Sabat. I'm kind of a massive Scott McNeil fangirl, and then Sabat shows up suddenly in the middle of the run and ruins three of my four favorite roles in the show (Brian's Veg, Scott's Pic, Ted's Yamcha), aaaaand the train of thought gets really ugly from there so I'll cut myself short.

Noticed the Nappa thing though..... That was... odd.

Because that one line sounded more sincere than anything I remember from the Z dub.

I'm so with you. I think Sabat is really better in the Kai trailer, but he's still not good in my opinion. However, I'm a foreigner, so people doesn't give a shit about my point of view.

The trailer has too much text ... and too little footage !

The trailers for the remastered dbz boxsets were much better ...
but the soundeffects are very impressive ... all speaker make a good job!
The word "KAI" means in the old North Germanic language Frisian "Kämpfer engl. Fighter" respectively "Krieger engl. Warrior"!

My thoughts on this trailer...

Somewhat positive. I particularly noticed Clinkenbeard's Gohan and, while it was quite strange to hear a completely different voice to Gohan, it sounded OK. At the moment, I don't know how I feel about it--I guess I'm jnot quite fully adjusted to new voices yet. Strait's Kuririn sounds all right, I guess--a better direction than his previous one for Kuririn.

Sabat's Piccolo and Vegeta appears to remain the same, to me. I was disappointed by the fact that I heard little to no change to their voices. They, yet again, sound far too similar and it seems like Sabat hasn't taken any different approach to their voices. I just want confirmation that their voices won't sound so croaky when they scream--then, maybe, I would be able to tolerate them a bit more.

The lines seem better too, closer to the original--albeit, not perfect--but good nonetheless. For now, I'll have to see more to make a better judgement on DBZ Kai, but so far, it looks pretty good.

I do! :D

Anyways, I'm usually pretty down on just about everything FUNimation does, but I was quite surprised to find myself enjoying certain aspects of this trailer. Though short, some of it was actually very good. Kuririn was, especially, surprisingly better. Sabat, at the very beginning, sounded better, but it was really too short to give an honest opinion. I'm excited for Kai.

Didn't they use Teinshinhan in the Dragon Ball dub?
He was "Tien Shinhan"

Edit: Name filter.

Barely 30 seconds of footage and it's the basis of entire reviews on Amazon.

Eh, I'm still holding out judgement on Clinkenbeard. I don't like her Luffy much.

As for asking if those lines are from the japanese version, those lines may not be direct japanese translations, but probably mean exactly the same thing. They just match the mouth flaps.

Such as "keep your eyes on the battlefield, you'll only have one shot at this."

is basically the same thing as,

"don't look away, you'll miss your chance."

Which of course is better than changing conversations entirely, like how it was originally handled... twice.
He said the same thing in the Funi dub of the Saiyan saga in Z. "Don't look away! You might miss your chance!"

Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

If that's the case, I don't know if these lines are exactly as spoken in the series, because if you are touting a much more accurate script, you won't make it less accurate, and you won't try to cram as many words in as possible. There's no way "keep your eyes on the battlefield, you'll only have one shot at this." could fit the mouth movements.

No. They used Tien Shinhan. First name / Last name style.

Except that it's pronounced exactly the same as Freeza, and it's not even technically a change.

"Technically," swapping an 'e' out for an 'i' does constitute a change. And the fact that it's still pronounced the same is the source of the frustration, I guess. Why change the spelling at all if the name is pronounced the same, especially when the changed version actually can potentially be mispronounced. It's an infuriating change because it's so pointless.

I was mainly speaking from memory. The exact line is, "Don't take your eyes off him! You'll miss your opportunity!"

Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
