A few people, myself included, engaged kei17 in a debate about it. He...didn't really give anything of substance, to me, to support his claim. Then he didn't post about it again. If you want to trust his views, then Toei made the entire series on 35mm film then downprinted it to 16mm and destroyed the 35mm masters (except a small portion of the Freeza arc), because apparently they dug wasting money. As a matter of fact, he stated all anime was done on 35mm at some point (despite the fact that I couldn't find anything or anyone that shared this view). A different master was then sent to every television station, meaning no two masters would be exactly the same in terms of color fidelity, however his EP VHS recordings that were recorded with unknown equipment/configurations/etc. and stored under unknown conditions for 20 years are his proof that the broadcast looked different and superior compared to the DragonBoxes.

Oh, and he emailed Toei once and they replied in a vague manner about the masters not being in perfect shape. Nevermind that the Japanese culture tends to be self-deprecating and they could have meant damned near anything by that.

So...yeah. Keep in mind that in 10 years+ of online fandom, he's the only person to ever have said any of the above. And it's not like we don't have people from all over the world, Japan included.

I Gotta agree with you, I even have the Vegeta fight on VHS(Fuji recording) and the colors are degraded, it basically looks like the master funi got.
Unless anyone had put the original broadcast onto laserdisk or digitized it we'll never know how the original broadcast looked, I'm sure the brightness would be about the same as his video showed it was quite dark..

That's the Cell Games recap that aired right before the 25th Budoukai. It basically gives an overview of the Cell Games, and then Goku fills in Goten and Gohan about what he's been doing in the afterlife (Ano Yo-ichi Budoukai). I still haven't been able to track down the exact date it aired though. This is something I will be adding to the feature at some point.

EDIT: Well actually, I'm going to look into it because it appears they may both apart of the year-end special... So I'll get back to you on that.

I just remembered something. This is getting a bit into GT box territory, but, you know how the preview in DBZ 291 for GT is moved to the GT set instead of the Z set? Well, I know that at least episode 290 (maybe 289 as well, but I can't remember for sure) did a split preview as well, a la the movies, with half being the next Z episode, and the other half being GT. Did those survive anywhere?

I already know Dragon Box isn't perfect when I was already read it's full specification.if you wanna call it "perfect" they should add a lot more stuff like multiple Dub(Japan,English and a lot more others),Multiple Sub(Japan,English and a lot more others),a lot of other countries DB,Z,GT commercials,Trailers(really a lot of them),Dragon Book in English(because English is the most well known language in the world) with little Japanese.so Dragon Box is far from "perfect",it's just(probably) the most spectacular DragonBall release forever.

Yeah I want the Japanese Dragon Book have English translation and little Japanese like Funi have.so it's the same as Japan Dragon Book but inside,it's the same as Funi Dragon Book(but without Roshi's censoring stuff and others like that).

W... what...?! This is another post that I absolutely can not comprehend what-so-ever. Are you simply saying that the Japanese Dragonbook volumes are bigger than the FUNimation equivalents? Yes. Yes, they are!

I'm sorry, but is English your native language? I'm guessing not. We need to decide how/if we are going to mark up folks who don't natively speak English natively -- we tend to go easier on them, but then we get yelled at by suburban American teenagers who can't type properly and we have to ask if they speak the language... not that I care... ^_~.

But yeah. We need to have posts that people can actually read and understand.
