Dragon Box Vs. Season Sets Comparison
Re: Dragon Box Vs. Season Sets Comparison
Is there something about the process that requires the use of quotes every damn time it's mentioned on this site, other than to mock it?
By every definition, as far as I'm aware, the Season Sets are remastered. Terribly, albeit, but remastered all the same. Just a pet peeve.

The term "re-mastering" implies you've done something to improve upon the original - 'mastering' a work (be it music, or film, or what-have-you) means taking the component parts and combining and tweaking them into a single 'master'. This is done to as high a quality as possible (master music recordings have separated instrument tracks at as high a fidelity as possible, motion-picture masters are video and audio at a the highest resolution with as many separate tracks as possible).Cipher wrote:Is there something about the process that requires the use of quotes every damn time it's mentioned on this site, other than to mock it?

To say you've 're-mastered' something you're saying you've made it better than it's ever been. This is true for the Japanese Dragon Boxes (they actually improved the quality of the video and audio), but it is inarguably not true for FUNi's orange brick sets.
(é) Yeah, I'm famous. Super famous. I start things.

Inarguably? I think not. What's your definition of better?
Bright? No grain? FILLS MUH WHOLE DADGUM TV?
Then the term "remastering" as you have described it, Desire, is true for the Orange Bricks. Are they correct? Well, an opinion isn't correct or incorrect, it's an opinion. It differs from yours and mine, yes, but it is still an opinion nonetheless. It could even be a well-researched opinion. If the individual holding the opinion has researched, found the facts, and stands by that persuasion. You might call it ignorant.
But the Dragon Box remastering inarguably was a helluva lot better.

I definately noticed the missing lines, but there's not that much of them to begin with.
Amen, brother. Anyone who was fricking eyes can see this.Innagadadavida wrote: But the Dragon Box remastering inarguably was a helluva lot better.

It's probably our opinions differing on what "a lot" is but...what?Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:I definately noticed the missing lines, but there's not that much of them to begin with.
An amount I can ignore is...2 maybe 3 times but this happens pretty consistently throughout the bricks. I'm not even talking from any orange brick prejudice seeing as how I'm sticking with them over the Dragon Boxes. (Not because I think the quality is higher I just hate the Z anime and I don't feel like buying it all over again.)

"A lot" would be about once every episode. This was not the case.Blue wrote: It's probably our opinions differing on what "a lot" is but...what?![]()

See that would be "an unwatchable fucking mess" to me. A lot in my opinion is what we got. Oh well, to each his own.Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:"A lot" would be about once every episode. This was not the case.Blue wrote: It's probably our opinions differing on what "a lot" is but...what?![]()

True. I guess there wasn't enough to wreck the viewing experience for me.Blue wrote:See that would be "an unwatchable fucking mess" to me. A lot in my opinion is what we got. Don't get me wrong me neither. As I said the bricks are my main source for viewing the Z anime. = )

That's usually the intent and implication, but it's not the definition.desirecampbell wrote:To say you've 're-mastered' something you're saying you've made it better than it's ever been. Funimation literally tinkered around with their existing masters and created a new set. They remastered it in every essence of the word; the results were just shit. Basically what Innagadadavida said.
Ergo, the whole quotes thing really bothers me. They certainly deserve to be around something like "definitive," but it's inarguable that they were in fact remastered.
Re: Dragon Box Vs. Season Sets Comparison
I suggested your video to the guy in this video. As you can see in my comments to him I was trying to sway him into getting the Dragonboxes even though he already has the orange bricks. Hopefully he saw your video and it convinced him.
