Actually, Ocean's Jeice was Brummie, which is a UK accent.

Now that I think about it, Ocean's Jeice sounds more Midlands with a hint of Welsh, rather than Australian.

Scott McNeil was born in Australia. He could've probably done an Aussie accent, but didn't.

Chris Sabat actually lived in Australia for a few years, too.

It's not the improvement I felt could have been done. We went from a bad casting decision to a decent casting decision IMO.

I believe this is what I pretty much feel about it:

Now the whole dub overall isn't bad, it's actually quite an imense improvement over the past dubs in fact. But they are focusing more on familiarity and not trying to change things up with new voice-actors. The actual dub script is very faithful, just the voices..could have been casted better.

Still makes me chortle.

That's still poor form, though. If you're in Schemmel's position

1) Already have tons of fans who actually like you, why should you care about one person who talks bad about you?

2) When you join this site, you aren't only representing yourself. You are, in a big way, representing all of FUNimation.

I respect/like Schemmel...but for him to join just to cross hairs with a single, nay-saying member...well, that hurt my respect for him.

One could argue that it's probably much easier to just create a new voice, rather than find someone who can imitate an old one.

I think the voice has potential, and the acting is what will truly matter at the end of the day. A part of me, though, does enjoy it.

As for his joining of the boards, you act as if he was drunkenly cursing out people. All he did was seek that a particular poster, who often showed his distaste for his work, often didn't explain why (whether or not he did prior on the board, in what he saw, that was the case), so he simply sought an explanation as to why. Though, for a while afterward, his insulting got worse, actually, but it has recently gone down a bit.

And that is true. It is much easier to come up with a voice than to mimic. I've tried, getting very close to voices tends to be tricky, especially when recording, when, depending on your set up, your voice is likely to go through some alterations (To me, my recorded voice sounds somewhat more geeky than what I hear when I speak). Making up some voice isn't too bad, though maintaining it can be a challenge if it's new.

I agree. I know it wasn't as severe as what my post may have sounded like. But I did have the Schemmel issue a little over-exaggerated.

Well... personally, I didn't stop liking the dub because of hearing the new Freeza. I haven't been on board with it from the beginning. Kaio's voice is far worse than Freeza's. Believe me...

I doubt Schemmel signed up just to cuss someone out. This is the internet. I could have had my user name be Goku Schemmel or whatever instead of Coola Yagami. How do we know it's the real guy and not just a dubGoku fanboy?

We know because he said he signed up on his fan club on Facebook and his YouTube account has the same name.

Penguintruth, I wouldn't brag about that. I did a little research on this stuff to figure out what you said to Sean, because I wasn't around in April when this happened.

But anyways. This isn't anything to brag about. You were condescending to Sean Schemmel and very rude to him. You couldn't even explain to him why you didn't even like his song (Dragon Soul version). It's one thing to not like the song. But it's another thing to just bash the heck out of person just for who he is. And not have one bit of constructive criticism at all for him. That's all he was asking for, and you couldn't back anything up, that was pretty sad.

Anyways, it was a good thing you didn't confront Schemmel face to face. Because he was pissed! I mean pissed from what I gathered from the Facebook. If you would have met him face to face. The news headline would be this, "Goku beats up over critical obsessed dbz fan" Or something like that. Probably not, but he did sound pissed off.

The way I remember it, I provided ample support for my criticism of his work, and he ran off with his tail between his legs. Even if you think that's a self-serving version of the events, I notice that he disappeared pretty quickly and all the comments conerning me magically disappeared off of his fanclub page.

To say I'm proud of the whole thing isn't accurate, because despite what some may think, I'm not out to piss anyone off. But it is amusing that he took my criticism so personally amongst a sea of devout followers. I guess it's human nature. The real amusing part, though, was that he publically singled me out.

Uh, no. You kept saying "Mr. Schemmel, I just don't like it."

He was asking why you thought he was so "fucking terrible" at singing and voice acting.

Anywho,

I love the new Freeza voice, but I actually hated the old one. The more I hear this new one the more it doesn't sound like Linda Young. The laugh is wonderful.

Let's get back on the topic of why the Freeza replacement was another botched attempt to treat the series with respect.
