Seriously, guys?

Post by ShadowDude112 » Sun Nov 21, 2010 3:36 am

It seems whenever I try to voice an opinion even though it'll be harsh, it gets deleted. What the fuck? I'll voice my opinion if I feel like it. If someone's a douchebag, I'll call them that. It's called freedom of speed, you dicks. You can't stop that shit. I don't see you stopping jjgp or penguintruth from doing that shit. So why the fuck is it only me. Isn't the whole point of a forum to have a conversation about a topic? You can't just stop someone from saying what they want. So why the hell do my posts keep getting deleted.

I mean, you're pretty open about looking at cartoon porn. Why would you do that? It's fiction. The proportions of these women are not possible to reach in reality.

I'm going to exercise my "freedom of speed" to say this is a dumb topic. This isn't your website, so stop acting like a douchebag.

Freedom of speech only applies against the US federal government or any of the state governments. It does not apply to private persons or institutions, which is what Daizex is.

I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

That being said, the only time that I or another moderator deletes a post it when it:
  • (1) Is genuine spam (this just doesn't happen anymore, so that's good)
  • (2) Is so poorly-written that correcting it in bold-red wouldn't serve much of a purpose (the user generally has very few posts, and typically doesn't stick around of their own free-will, making further moderation unnecessary)
  • (3) Is accidentally posted in the wrong topic
  • (4) Is so completely off-topic (thread about Kinto-Un turns into discussion about Care Bears) that pruning is necessary; this includes arguments between (usually) two members that derails a thread, wherein those posts are deleted and the members themselves are warned/banned
  • (5) Is laughably unnecessary (your standard "lolz" or "first" or "I agree" or "insert image here that acts as a post")
Rare cases outside of these will result in deleted posts, but they are so incredibly rare, that you must be acting in flagrant disregard of the forum rules for your posts to be deleted.

Do you honestly feel like something you had to say was so meaningful, honest, and truthful and its deletion was completely outside of the realm of the standards listed above? I somehow doubt it with all my heart, but I'll hear you out. Sure.

Long story short, you must be posting some really stupid shit for it to be deleted by any of my moderators.

Well, judging by the amount of profanity in that particular post...
New to the forum? Just want to know when you'll hit your next posting rank? Ever wondered why some users have special titles, and what they mean? The answers to all these questions and more are waiting for you in the Kanzenshuu Member Hierarchy Guide!!

I've been deleting your posts because you've been mini-modding, saying you "hope [person] gets banned," and the like, often being insulting towards the user when you do it.

Yes, there's been a lot to "fix" on the forum lately, and the fact that we mods and admins have lives outside of the internet might mean we don't catch all of it and red-mark every post which deserves it. But that doesn't give you permission to "step up" and fill in the gaps, especially not by simply outright blasting the posters in question.

If you feel like something's REALLY off-the-mark, then use the Report button. That's why it exists, to draw our attention to things which need it.

Now call them "Hitler" and you'll have used every 13 year old boy argument for forum moderation in the book.

I want to pop in and say one thing:

Actually, when you own a website--as in, pay all the bills, call all the shots, and run the place--then yes, you absolutely can just stop someone from saying what they want. This is Mike's house and he and his appointed staff team call the shots, not you. If you walked into my house and started talking all sorts of shit and being disrespectful to my other guests, then I'd be liable to punch you in the face and immediately eject you from my home. The same principle applies here. You have no "rights"--just privileges granted to you in good faith by the website owner. This is not a democracy.

The artificial sense of entitlement that comes with internet presence is a phenomena I still don't quite understand. What you do the right to do is leave an establishment of your own free will if you're not happy with it... so if the ability to (allegedly) not backseat mod and be an ass to people is something you don't like, you don't have to keep posting here. That's your choice to make and nobody can stop you. Until then, you'll find you're very much under the jurisdiction of this website's staff and you'd do well to abide by their rules.

I want to take this opportunity to thank all the other mods for being so diligent. I've been on-and-off the forum for the last couple of months (holy shit life's crazy).

I really want to call attention to this, it really helps. I haven't been in the Kai forum in two months. I have no idea if there's a problem going on unless it's been reported. The reported posts go into a queue that I can get to in two-clicks.

ShadowDude112, if you (or anyone else) is having a problem with something on the forum, PM a mod - we will respond to you. It might just be "you were being a dick, I deleted your post", but at least you won't look like a bigger jerk by making a whole thread about it :P
