Now seriously, FUNimation's dub has an awful writing sometimes when compared to the original, not that it's bad though. My country's dub is just plain ridiculous to the point that you think you're watching a badly written comedy show!

Z Remastered. Kai is a joke. I simply have a predilection for the Americanized version of the show. Do I believe it's perfect? Of course not, but it's better than watching the kitschier Japanese version. J-Pop? No thanks.

I'm glad you find aberrant opinions to be so droll. I find Japanese voice acting to be abrasive at best, intolerable at worst; perhaps it works within the context of their culture, but to me it comes off as ludicrous and awkward. No, my opinion is not colored by my lack of understanding when it comes to their language--their inflections, intonations, and irritating squeals are enough to influence my judgment.

Furthermore, I cannot stand the original score. Most of my music library is comprised of Japanese video game soundtracks, but in this case, I cannot abide Kikuchi's music. Leitmotifs are scarcely implemented, and the music rarely encapsulates the action. Both Nathan Johnson and Faulconer Productions gave the series the appropriate edge it required (from my point of view), and proper leitmotifs. No corny J-Pop either.

Keep in mind this is my opinion--my perspective. I respect yours, but I do not agree.

The rest of the world seems to love DBZ as is, with the original score intact. Are you sure you're not hating on the Kikuchi score only because the Faulconer/Johnson scores exist? If you caught the DBZ dub on TV back in the day, with the Kikuchi score, would you have changed the channel in disgust?

Care to elaborate? Are you speaking of only the replacement voices, or the entire cast? Because I don't get how anybody can call the acting in the DBZ dub "good." It's often so forced and stiff. Anybody can see that these guys have improved greatly in the ten or so years that they've been voicing the characters. Show anybody that doesn't particularly care about anime the DBZ dub, and they'll tell you that the voices sound strange, and the acting corny.

(Also, please tell me you don't consider Chris Ayres's Freeza a poor voice...)

I already elucidated upon why I dislike the Kikuchi score--it doesn't make use of leitmotifs and the music sounds campy/poorly recorded. I was first introduced to DBZ through Shuki Levy's score, and I'd rate Levy just a smidgen above Kikuchi. And yes, I would probably switch the channel.

Comparing the Remastered Seasons 1+2 to DBZ Kai, the Remastered versions seem better acted to me. Of course, a lot of stiff acting occurs during the Frieza saga, I'll grant you that.

Chris Ayres isn't bad as Frieza, but I prefer Linda's interpretation. Chris sounds too much like the Ocean Dub Frieza.
