Toes aren't drawn anywhere near as often as fingers are (I'm pretty sure Goku's little ding-ding is seen more often than his toes...Even so, why aren't they so nit-picky with toes? I think both Cell and Freeza have 3 toes (at least, in Cell's first form), and their feet appear many times.

Well yeah, I thought about him becoming more human-like and all. I don't even know which form it would be that could have three in the manga and five in the anime. Maybe it was Buu I was thinking of after all...Super Sonic wrote:In the manga he grows two more fingers after absorbing #17.TripleRach wrote:That would be 13 of DB, or the Japanese 13.
On a side note, isn't there a similar situation with Cell, where he has three fingers in the manga, and five in the anime? Or am I misremembering something?
Yakuza?
Hey there, this is my first post here. Congratulations for the main site, it's pretty rare to come across a mature and comprehensive site about DB, so I'm very thankful!
At any rate, I've read a few years ago that the reason why every character in the TV series version has 5 fingers instead of four or three is the Yakuza (the Japanese Mafia). That the TV producers were afraid to imply some connection with the Yakuza methot of punishment (which is to sever one of the fingers, starting from the smaller, and ending with the thumb, depending of the degree of the fault or reincidence). Perhaps there was some actual level of involvement with the Yakuza from the part of Toei, or any of it's major employees, and they thought that characters with four fingers would represent some sort of mocking.
I was curious to know if there is any ground to this rumour...

Re: Yakuza?
Welcome to the board, you seem to be well versed in grammar and punctuation (actually rare for a new-commer).mrkitano wrote:Hey there, this is my first post here. Congratulations for the main site, it's pretty rare to come across a mature and comprehensive site about DB, so I'm very thankful!

But we also shun "necro-postin" - thst's posting to a thread that hasn't been posted to for a long time. This thread's been 'dead' for a few months, this is definitly a necro-post.
Don't feel too bad about it, last week someone posted to a thread that hadn't be active in a year and a half.
Best thing to do is start a new thread about the topic (which is different from other forums, but hey, it's easier to read).
Again, welcome!
(é) Yeah, I'm famous. Super famous. I start things.
