Episode of Bardock: Giant On-Going Manga + Anime Discussion
Re: Ooishi Doing V-Jump Manga: Episode of Bardock
Always took them to be asexual until proven wrong. Thing is, when a character is asexual, it tends to default to "male"; like all the namekians, Cell, etc. Chilled could still be asexual "female" type. I dunno...

Thank you herms for the translations
!
I really like Chilled, I dont know why I just do.
And I think we all know what Bardock will finally do next issue.

Re: Ooishi Doing V-Jump Manga: Episode of Bardock
Despite slightly disappointing me with the 80's style swimsuit design, Chilled is rather "cute" in a way, and the playful attitude is rather fun. It's like Fat Buu and Freeza mixed. lol But I'm hoping Ooishi doesn't rush this and make Bardock transform like two pages from the end, wrap everything up in a few seconds. I'd like to see him as a Super Saiyan for more than a few panels. lolkaialone wrote:Thank you herms for the translations!

Oh, and yeah, thanks Herms. You were speedy this time, and I appreciate that. lol

Didn't Freeza also talk like a child sometimes, i.e. when refering to Cold?Herms wrote:Not necessarily, he just talks like one. Babidi does too, and he's millions of years old.Luke Groundwalker wrote:Ah so Chilled is just a kid.
Re: Ooishi Doing V-Jump Manga: Episode of Bardock
Anyone think how strong Chilled is? I think that he's more or less weaker than Frieza's first form, but stronger than Ginyu.

Re: Ooishi Doing V-Jump Manga: Episode of Bardock
Well, Bardock was around 10,000 by the end of his TV special and the Super Saiyan form is a 50x multiplier, so between 10,000 and 500,000...Z-Dragon wrote:Anyone think how strong Chilled is? I think that he's more or less weaker than Freeza's first form, but stronger than Ginyu.
(Bardock probably got a near death boost after being healed by Ipana, but we have no idea what he would be increased to, so I'll stick with that range.)
Re: Ooishi Doing V-Jump Manga: Episode of Bardock
I am aimed to believe Chilled won't be anywere close to Freeza in power and the author was carefull to not include character at such a level, since soldiers like Vegeta or Ginyu Tokusentai looked over themselves as the mightiest elite of the universe.
Bardock was close to 10,000 at the end of the TV special and may be slight more than that now. Considering he managed to punch Chilled on the face and cause a minor injury, I would expect Chilled to have a battle power of less than 20,000.

Re: Ooishi Doing V-Jump Manga: Episode of Bardock
That would result in overkill when Bardock transforms. Don't forget this is supposed to be set in the past, and if Bardock really is supposed to be THE Legendary Super Saiyan, then its 1000 years in the past. Since I doubt most of the manga's characters even existed back then, what does it matter if there is someone near Freeza's level? Especially if Bardock ends up killing 'em, which I kind of doubt will happen.Fox666 wrote:I am aimed to believe Chilled won't be anywere close to Freeza in power and the author was carefull to not include character at such a level, since soldiers like Vegeta or Ginyu Tokusentai looked over themselves as the mightiest elite of the universe.

Re: Ooishi Doing V-Jump Manga: Episode of Bardock
Yeah, basically his forms go like this:Fox666 wrote:Didn't Freeza also talk like a child sometimes, i.e. when refering to Cold?
1st Form: polite to very polite
2nd Form: casual masculine (more or less how Piccolo or Vegeta talk)
3rd Form: polite again
4th Form: starts out child-like and gets more and more masculine and aggressive as the tide turns against him
Mecha: child-like, calls Cold "papa"
That's pretty much what I expect to happen. There's only 15 pages to go, so they can't really have much of a huge, drawn-out battle.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:That would result in overkill when Bardock transforms.

Re: Ooishi Doing V-Jump Manga: Episode of Bardock
Well, I'm expecting Bardock to transform and just start kicking ass without taking names, but not by that big of a number gap. I know it doesn't really matter from a story standpoint since Bardock only need to be weaker than Chilled before transforming, and stronger afterward. Though Chilled being at 20,000 would truly be overkill if Bardock jumps from around 10,000 to 500,000. The same situation could happen with Chilled at 250,000 and just say Bardock caught the runt by surprise that someone would actually charge him with the first hit (and Bardock's only hit of the fight so far).Herms wrote:That's pretty much what I expect to happen. So this hints that Bardock is goingg to be the Super Saiyan from the legent? Great!

Well, doesn't the original legend say the original super saiyan ends up killing himself in a raw display of power? Or something like that.

Oh I see, so in the original is just something along the lines of every thousand years a super saiyan appears, and that's about it, right?Herms wrote:No,that's just a dub line.DNA wrote:Well, doesn't the original legend say the original super saiyan ends up killing himself in a raw display of power? Pretty much. And he's supposed to be the strongest in the universe, and love destruction and slaughter. That's about it.DNA wrote:Oh I see, so in the original is just something along the lines of every thousand years a super saiyan appears, and that's about it, right?

WTF?! There are already French and Portuguese scanlations, but still not English? I wish I could do it myself...

Why can't you? Its not hard to do, just tedious, hence why I stopped. I have better, more productive things to waste my time on. Herms did give us a translation, the pages have been scanned, and every computer comes with at least basic MSPaint style software. Saying you can't do it it nothing more than an excuse, as the means to tackle the task are more than available to you.DBZGTKOSDH wrote:WTF?! Not trying to sound like an ass, but given enough time, ANYONE could do it since all the materials are provided.
Re: Ooishi Doing V-Jump Manga: Episode of Bardock
Well to have the right programms for something like this is probably the hardest part. I doubt anybody would want to use Paint for this job and not everybody can use Photoshop (or whatever other tools are out there)
Anyway, the story in unfolding pretty much as I (and probably everyone else) expected and mostly following this for the art. Which, looking at the LQ scans, I think has improved a lot. But she's still not there. Movement is still to rigid in some places.

I've already done english scanlations. PM me those who would like to have it.
