Watching the episode right now and you can tell they were really struggling to find footage for this episode. I'm only through the first 5 minutes and the episode is all over the place.

Didn't see it yet, but saw the recap and the Ano-Yoichi stuff seems to be there for filling in purposes. They could have used some more Namek stuff or Cell but they didn't. Anyways, a bad, a very bad way to end this. Kudos to TOEI for ruining it.

They recap was way to short. They needed to extend it, and just show present day Buu-arc Gohan, Goten and the others.

Eye-catch B makes sense since supposedly the episode is about Future Trunks killing Future 17 & Future 18. If they were going the route of reusing old eye-catches, then the other eye catch should've been this one to reflect on Goku's current situation:

Trunks and Piccolo look very odd because of the inconsistent thickness of lines, and that makes the whole shot look like a fan-made photoshopped image. I have to say that everything done in episode 98 is just nothing but a scamped work.

So, when the series was typically still airing I'd always post a weekly mini-review over on Toonzone. I did one last review for this extra episode and I figured I might as well post it here, too.

So, yeah. The final episode of Dragon Ball Kai. What a weird one.

Dragon Ball covered: chapters #419-420
Dragon Ball Z covered: part of episode #193 and episode #194.

Recap: Trunks returns from the future and greets his ma.
Opening: the usual.
Part A: We open with footage from Dragon Ball Z episode #193, Chichi entering Gohan's room to give him his lunch...but he's gone! Gohan and Gyuumaou are out fishin'! I have to say, I miss Gouri as Gyuumaou so much. Next, Bulma and her parents are watching as present Trunks is learning to walk. Then, Mister Satan (Gouri, I miss you so!) shows off his strength on live TV, breaking nineteen of twenty tiles. On The Serpentine Path, Gokuu, Kaiou-sama, Bubbles, and Gregory watch Mister Satan, then decide to build a new house! Back in the time of the Trunks from the future, Trunks and his mom talk about his adventures in the past. Dende's in-character song, CURE ~ Boku ga Koko ni Iru yo ~ (which came out in the first set of insert themes but was never played) plays as an insert song in the background over the radio, interestinly enough. A news report plays, revealing that the Artificial Humans are attacking again! Tossing off his jacket and entering his Super Saiyan form, Trunks flies off to kick some ass.
Eyecatch A: Vegeta, Tenshinhan, Yamcha, Kuririn, Trunks (battle armor and long hair), and Piccolo.
Eyecatch B: No. 17 and No. 18
Part B: No. 18 is pissed off because she lost at a video game. The rational thing to do, of course, is to blow people and crap up! Trunks swoops in and kills her, then her brother. Months pass and Cell shows up looking to kill Trunks and steal his time machine. Trunks knocks Cell out of the city and kills him. Peace has finally returned to the future! Meanwhile, in the afterlife of the present...Son Gokuu accidentally breaks Kaiou-sama's new home. Whoops. The two decide to go meet the masters of the Afterlife!
Ending: the usual, although they do list CURE ~ Boku ga Koko ni Iru yo ~ in the credits, too!
Next episode preview: none!

Over all, the extra episode formering known as episode #98 is just a mixed bag of 'blah'. Wakamoto continues to put on an incredibly stupid monster voice for his first form voice. The editing for the final half is also choppy, as if Michael Bay edited the final fights and ending.

Here's the final (nearly five) minutes of Dragon Ball Kai. Assuming the video isn't blocked, that is! :p Notice how the editing of the montage makes no sense whatsoever!
