How strong is Satan?

...and as we all know Satan did a lot of Tenkaichi tournaments, you wouldn't say that puts him above human limits?

As far as I know, he only went to one before the Cell games and won it because there were no beyond human contestants. That doesn't put him above human limits at all.

I think placing Mr. Satan at an above average human level fits quite nicely. His only real feats of strength were breaking a few tiles (failed to break them all) and the punching bag score (which wasn't really blowing away any of the other scores), so yeah... if the average human is a 5, I'd put him at an 8 or so.

I think the problem here is that 10 for start-of-Dragonball Goku. I mean, he had a power level of 2 even as a baby, so it's kind of ridiculous that growing up PLUS having some martial arts/basic ki training from Grandpa Gohan didn't boost him up higher than just 10, especially considering that the average human goes from probably as low as 0.00001 or something all the way to 5 just from growing up (and most don't ever do any training worth mentioning.)

Dragonball power levels are kind of shaky to begin with (made up LONG after the fact, the entire concept hadn't even been introduced yet at that point... and unlike the Z levels, there's just not that many of them, and they don't really cover as many characters or different levels of the same character before/after training, other boosts, etc.)... but I'd say the worst one of them all is little Goku having only a 10.
I usually like to put little Goku at around 20 or 25, and Mr. Satan somewhere in the 8 to 12 range (significantly tougher than an ordinary human, but still not really all that close to superhuman levels.) Of course, exactly how strong he really is depends on whether you think he could do some of the stuff he did in filler "showing off strength" scenes or not; 8 if breaking a bunch of tiles is really the best he can do, closer to 12 if he could pull off some of the other stuff like punching through metal.

Well, remember, numerical battle powers as we know them are only a measurement of Ki.

Little Goku was obviously many times physically stronger and more durable than a normal human, able to lift and crush boulders with his bare hands, take bullets and axes to the head and get nothing more than a bump, and so forth. But his actual Ki level might just be at its "low-class Saiyan child default" level, only about twice that of the average adult male human. Once he learned and started using the Kamehameha, it no doubt began to grow somewhat, then it surely grew even more from Roshi's training and beyond. But Ki didn't start being the big, primary deciding factor in a battle until the King Piccolo era. Before that, physical strength, speed, and durability had a lot more to do with it.

The same concept would apply for Mister Satan. He could be like 5x stronger physically than the average human, but be sporting a Ki reading of only, say... 7.

The battle power of 2 is given only in the movies or TV specials, not in the manga.

Like Kaboom said, Goku physical body was far superior to that of an average human (not taking in account his martial arts training), while his Ki is merely twice that of an human. At the best, the reading of 10 tells us how strong the Kamehameha that Goku fired is compared to that of an average human.

One example for comparison is Batta and Captain Ginyu, while Ginyu battle power far surpass that of Batta (over twice), Batta supposedly still is faster than him. So Goku at the beggining of the series could be 10 times stronger or faster than an average human, however his Ki alone is only twice that of an average human.

To think about it, Videl learnt to fly quite easy, so perhaps Videl and Satan Ki are actually something.

Another thing is that a lot of Goku's training with Grampa Gohan would probably have involved learning the basics of fighting, kung-fu, etc. Actually learning how to fight would obviously make you a better fighter, but it wouldn't necessarily make you physically or spiritually stronger.

He is one of the weakest characters in the series, Goku at the first chapters where much stronger then him. Mr. Satan feats such as able to take hits from Cell and Buu are just joke feats, I don't think they should be taken seriously.

Maybe it just runs in the family that they can take beatings, Videl got the shit beaten out of her by Spopovich and survived

From what I can remember that Videl was stated to be stronger then Mr. Satan. I doubt Mr. Satan would able last as long as Videl did against Spopovich.

I dont know Since you are putting Goku at 10 I guess it makes sense but Mr. Satan is much stronger than the "average man" He did pull all of those things (things... I think they were trailers? RVs?) If he was able to pull those it bumps him up to 5.3 maybe 5.4 he isn't just barely above a man.

Seeing Videl running over a bus and all in the beggining of the Boo saga makes me doubt she or Satan could lift a vehicle.
