Well, a lot of people seem to think that they're going for the long haul on this one, so don't worry. But if you think about it for a moment; all of the Freeza episodes are available uncut right now, on 10 dvds, so from a marketing and profit-margin stand-point, it wouldn't be logical to go about re-releasing dvds that are currently available.
It's generally understood that FUNi is doing everything in their power to milk the series with the exuberant releases, but I doubt they're really interested in making an entirely new dub of the arc they started with, with their in-house team, after Saban left, that is already available.

But you shouldn't worry, because the currently available Freeza discs aren't too shabby, and they are, as I've said uncut. :)
MajinMetroid wrote:I'm confused, are they going to redo the two Captain Ginyu discs in Ultimate Uncut Edition or are you talking about the episodes where Guldo and Recoome are fought?
It isn't definite, to my knowledge, but it seems like (based on FUNi's wanting to dub the parts of the series that the Ocean cast had done) they will go up to the Ginyu Tokusentai arc. It's hard to tell whether they will just do one disc, or both, but since the Ultimate Uncut on DVD is still rather in it's infancy, I s'pose the only place to find out for sure is to keep watching on CN', since they're really far in on the series.
If CN' runs the Ginyu episodes (at all) with a new opening/closing, then we'll have a pretty good idea of how far they are going with this dub before they finish up.

I understand exactly what you mean now. There really is no point to in makin a whole new dub, when they already have the same disc's that were previously released uncut. If I see them I will probably buy half of them, then the rest later. The stores near me mainly have the Android and Cell saga disc's, and I already have all of them.

LOL, I taped them all when they aired on CN. I'll buy the DVDs later when I get some cash.

Watch out. Your necro posting. That's a big no-no around here.

And so are you for replying, not to mention using the wrong "you're".

Uhm.. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought stickies can't be necroposted in because they never go down.

Aren't you allowed to necro-post in sticky threads? Why else would it always be stuck on the top? :?

EDIT: Damn you B-kun! Beat me to it...

Such is true, but I just find something ironic about someone telling someone else they're necroposting by continuing to post in the same thread :).

And that's that.

Maybe he ment "Your necro posting" as a clarification on what he was taking about. Like if something was about to fall on my head, he'd say "Watch out! Your head!"

Or maybe not :p

Umm... Aren't we all necro posting now? Or is it not considered necro posting because I am the one who started it and after me, everyone else is just replying to the newly revived sticky that wasn't really a necro post in the first place?

Ugh... I just confused myself...

^^;;; Clarification.

You cannot necropost in a sticky because the thread doesn't go down the list.

Stupid question - How far did CN go anyway? Working 2nd shift killed the possibility of me seeing them.

CN got to the fight between Goku and Recoome before DBZ was replaced with Yu-Gi-Oh! GX. I have always wondered why they put GX on at 9:30 when they've already got one episode playing per day, why couldn't CN finish out all of DBZ?
I really, really need to get back into the habit of posting.

Perfect opportunity to plug Episode #0009 of the podcast, where we explain the whole thing!

Long story short:
  • FUNimation pledged to release the entire series "uncut"
  • FUNimation's working definition of "uncut" is essentially that no visual footage/content is removed or otherwise edited
  • Season three onwards to the end is *already* released "uncut" by this definition
Hope that helps! We went into extreme detail during the podcast episode, so check it out, too.

Ahh! That does, actually! I thought they were going to do three and onwards as well (in regards to the dub). Mind you, it doesn't affect me since I want the Japanese version only, so I'm still an idiot. :P

Damn. If I had the money I would've bought Dragon Box way back when it first came out. This guy showed me how bleh Funi's DVD's were compared to Toei's. I sold all my DVDs that day.......

The singles are as good (except with different, but still awesome packaging), and the 11-box region 3 release of Z is also fairly decent too. So you're not out of options :)
