Sleeping Princess DVD Is Strange.

Post by Tanooki Kuribo » Sun Dec 11, 2005 7:38 pm

I don't know if maybe this was just on my DVD, but for some reason when the theme song plays (Japanese version) some sences are cut, Iam not talking about edited out Iam saying there is a black space on the bottom of the screen where the rest of the image should be. This is not something I'd return the DVD for just wanted to know if it was just a bad copy. Also it's odd but you can't switch from Japanese to English without stopping the movie and going to the audio menu.

Like the screen gets cut? Not in mine...

Mine does that too. I thought maybe it had something to do with the original Japanese version being widescreen. Didn't really bother me too much though.

Does the bar only appear at the bottom or both the top and bottom? Maybe someone could do a screen capture.

I thought all the movies were done in 4:3

Right, they were originally all 4:3, but some releases in Japan actually had the tops and bottoms cropped off to give them a "widescreen" look. (Which is silly, because they essentially cropped out part of the picture doing that.) Hopefully Funimation released the DVD with the original aspect ratio intact.

Is it only during the intro?

I remember thinking that was a little strange myself when I worked on it. That is how it came, though.

Can't have a Dragon Ball DVD without Toei finding some way to make the video somehow odd. :P

So does this mean mine was zoomed in? I have a "Quebec" disc so it's altered to have the French subs as well. Would it possible that they thought this was a glitch and tried to rectify it?
