Shunsuke Kikuchi's music style isn't anything like TF's.
I think that's where you forgot about the joke.
Essentially what he's saying is Toei would hire Faulconer, Faulconer would hire Kikuchi to make the music but Faulconer would take all the credit.

After listening to Faulconer tracks, for what they are, music, they're quite impressive.
FUNimation could've reused DBZ Faulconer tracks on the Z Kai home releases but keeping all silence moments exactly as they were on the original/Japanese version.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray

Kikuchi would be credited as "synthesist" and "audio engineer" or something like that. maybe "copyist"!
Copyist? What would Kikuchi copy from the Faulconer Group?

btw Copyist means this:

Not that I was accusing Kikuchi of actually being a copyist.

It'd be weird and out-of-place.
One guy did an experiment with this idea though:
Dragon Ball Z (Japanese version with Bruce Faulconer music)

Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.

I'm just about done with the concept of reboots and making shows that were products of their time and impactful "new and sexy" and in line with modern tastes and sensibilities. Let stuff stay in their era and give today's kids their own shit to watch.

Actually, it's not half bad depending on what scene it is used in.
Kei17 had a video up of Vegeta's Self Destruction of Japanese vocals and Faulconer Group music. It actually worked pretty well.

That felt kind of weird FP with Japanese voices, but I could get used to it.
One thing the Japanese-FP version couldn't miss is having silent moments, they're really precious and needed.

That actually sounds pleasant to the ears.

I'm so glad they didn't do that after the Yamamoto scandal. Not that I hate that score or anything, and it actually would be interesting to see the score used properly, as opposed to constant noise. But, for starters, I can't picture FUNimation ever doing that (using the score properly), and the series needs to stop being messed with. We already have enough English dubs to divide the fanbase with, the different scores aren't helping either.

It's like most anything that FUNi dubs, you can expect it to be released unaltered... unless it has "Dragon Ball" in its title.
If Toei did use Faulconer for the original Japanese score, though, I think I could tolerate it. Maybe even like it, if it's used with silence.

"Over saturation is easy. Just drag the slider to the right and there you are: instant interest. And certainly, the majority of the public likes saturated color images. In fact, if you want to quickly create a popular image, simply over saturate the colors and increase the contrast. While you may not achieve a sophisticated image, you will achieve an image that will please a less demanding audience." - Alain Briot
