I don't inderstand why people complain about B2's story mode. I actually liked the board game motif. I like story modes that allow me to change the progression of the game. Like "digging" beneath yourself and finding a "+1 attack" or "+1 defense". Having to choose Krillin (and get him killed) on Namek to go Super Saiyan. I loved trying to get to Buu before he absorbed everybody (I actually did that once).

That kind of game is much more interesting (to me) than "fight 1 >> fight 2 >> cutscene >> fight 3..."

Also, gathering the Dragon Balls were a hell of a lot easier in Budokai 2 than they were in Budokai 1.

Error. Does not compute. Getting the DBs in B1 was so simple. You could win or buy them. In fact, that's how I got them easiest/fastest. Bought out EVERYTHING in the store until only DBs were left. Course, I was addicted to the tournament mode so I ranked up cash fast....

Sure, the board game design was kind of fun. You could change up who fought who instead of being stuck to the actual story-line. In fact, you didn't have to use Goku, ever, if you wanted to try that, and moved your pieces right. But after my 5th playthough I HATED it. HATED. HATED. HATED. I could play JUST the portions I wanted (I.E. Vegetto VS. Super Buu3, or SSJ Goku Vs. Freeza, etc) unless I did duel mode, and dueling didn't get me DBs. Being stuck playing that damn thing 40+ times drove me up the wall.

The GC users are lucky, being able to buy the DBs in their version.

Nope, DB's can't be bought in the GC version of B2. :/

Ha, I wish. As Ash already stated the Dragon Balls can't be bought on the GCN version. Unfortunately that's the reason I have yet to play as Tiencha (Yamhan).

Why bother buying them anyway? They're easy to find.

They're easy to find, but the time it takes to get them~ In Budokai 1, once you bought all the capsules, the only capsules that pop up are Dragon Balls, so it was very easy to 100% the game once you had a lot of money. In B2, it doesn't matter how much money you have, you just have to play DW again and again and again...

Wait a second, I have all the regular capsules in Budokai 1 but when I go to Popo's shop all he sells are duplicates. In order to get a Dragon Ball I have to reenter the shop many times until one randomly appears. Is there some easier way to buy the Dragon Balls directly? It is because of this that I have never gotten all the Breakthrough capsules, it just takes to damn long. :x

Once you have 9 of all the other capsules the only thing that'll show up as a Random Capsule sale is a Dragonball. If it's not coming up every time then you don't have 9 of everything else yet. Just keep getting cash and buying stuff.

I didn't buy the other capsules, but it took too long going back and forth for new ones since they hardly showed up. It was easier in the searching for them in Budokai 2.

Thanks for the info, maybe now I can finally get around to getting 100% capsules in Budokai 1. :D

I've tried this method myself; and while it will work 100% of the time, buying 9 of every capsule in the game takes an obscene amount of time and zenie. And believe me, once you're done you won't feel like playing again for a loooong time. @_@;

I am yet to win more than two Tournaments, the A.I. is just so unfair!

Tell me about it! The A.I. for Android #19 in B1 just infuriates the heck out of me because it is so cheap.
Best. Slip 'n' slide. EVER!

Well, there's a fast and cheap way of winning the B1 tournaments. Set VHD + Vaccine to your character (Gohan or Krillin work great) and set the game time to 30 seconds. Now, start the tournament and just block. If you get thrown by a grapple just hold down on the D-pad (or stick, whichever you use). Doing that will stop you from standing back up and most characters can't hit Gohan or Krillin (or really, anyone for that matter) when they're on the ground. Certainly not enough to win. So, once time runs out, thanks to the VHD + Vaccine, victory is yours.

I just thought of something else. While B1 has environments that reflect the story more, B2 has some fictional environments as well. Not to mention that those same environments were more animated then B1.

As for that strategy Xyex, I'll give a shot. Thanks for the advice. :)

none of them have really deep gameplay.
budokai 3 is far better is every aspect.
but budokai 3 didn't had the cutscenes from budokai 1,
thats why the first one is worth getting..

but budokai 2 (us) has nothing that really is worthy getting
compared to budokai 3. maybe the what if fusions? then i should
mention. yamcha+tenshinhan, goku+mister satan.. are really useless.
super buu's absorption skill if fine though. he can absorbe cell and
freeza too. it is not magnificent, besides seeing new what if forms.

but them again, budokai 1 too have characters that didn't come
in budokai 3, like dodoria and zarbon. and those really count.

what i mean is.. if you cant spend money on dbz..
play budokai 3 and be happy. after all you wont be losing anything,
just gaining.

Please... you've been warned about this.

There's no need to make your own line breaks after every sentence, and you have to capitalize correctly. I don't remember if you're the one on the PSP, but even so... c'mon... you agreed to the rules, and if you don't follow them, you're going to find yourself on the corner.

No I was not the guy on the psp. But I read your message for him.
Sorry for my manners, I AM trying to follow the rules. It is hard though, to change the ways one post messages on forums, if you are used to..
And my grammar is not that perfect at all. But just relax Vegetto no one is trying to ruin your site or your forum. This place is great. We just want to talk with other people that really keeps coming back for more dragonballs!
