It's because of the time period he grew up in, there were a bunch of fallen freedom fighters w/ swords shown in the flashback Trunks had. They gave it their all to fight those Androids but failed. Why not have one?

Haven't we already gotten these in GT? Goku dies, the DBs go away, and the Namekian DBs most likely won't be used again because of the Evil Dragons.

I always side eye the people who say "Now my kids/today's kids can experience what I did as a child!" Nigga, who gives a fuck about your childhood? You're an adult now and it was at least 15 years ago. Let the kids have their own experience instead of picking at a corpse.

Anime filler is irrelevant in this discussion that's at first and foremost dealing with the primary source: the manga and its continuity/canon/whatever you wanna call it. Sorry to put it as bluntly as that, but it doesn't really help here.DBZAOTA482 wrote:It's because of the time period he grew up in, there were a bunch of fallen freedom fighters w/ swords shown in the flashback Trunks had. Why would "freedom fighters" use swords rather than, I dunno, more powerful weapons like guns and grenades against Androids, guys who can literally fire energy blasts out of their hands? Trunks is different because he's superhuman and can use his power behind the sword to execute various techniques like slicing up Freeza. To an ordinary human, a sword in their hands may as well be a club in the hands of a hamster.
