Something cut from Vol. 7: Back from the Dead?

Hey there, I picked up the new Ultimate Uncut Volume at Best Buy on Tuesday (apparently they had it out early). As I was watching the final episode last night, I noticed something sort of odd.

Now, it's been a loooooong time since I watched these original episodes, and the only time I ever has was way back on Toonami probably around 1999. We all know that Gohan wears a gi similar to his father's during his training with Piccolo. As far as I can remember, when the Saiyans (Nappa and Vegeta) land Piccolo gives him an outfit similar to his own complete with the little elf shoes. Well, in the episode Counting Down it appears that Gohan already has this outfit on. The scene is at the very end when everyone realizes that the Saiyans landed a month early. I always thought that Piccolo made a sort of big deal giving Gohan his new outfit and that there was a scene showing him magically creating it and Gohan freaking out because it's so cool.

So, um, I know that's kinda hard to follow, but am I just remembering things wrong or is there actually a scene that shows Piccolo giving Gohan his new outfit? Or is FUNImation's disc missing that scene?

It's never shown when Piccolo gives Gohan his purple/red belt gi, he just gets it between the time Goku perfects the Genki-dama and when Shenron is summoned. Believe me, FUNi wouldn't have cut it, and I know Toei gives them fully uncut masters (not counting the wrong opening-theme, ending-credits, and audioless next-episode previews). It was never shown when Piccolo gives Gohan that gi, not in anime or manga. Also, I have all the Ocean episodes on tape, no such thing ever happened where it was shown Piccolo giving Gohan that gi.

Ignition, I think you're thinking about the Piccolo giving Gohan clothes right before the Cell games, It's a pretty big moment.

That's probably what I'm thinking of... it's been a while since I've watched those episodes as well. Oddly enough I have all of them on DVD, I'm just too damn busy to find time to watch them all through.
