I need to re-watch that movie asap. Makes me want to not wait for an announcement of a Z movie dragon box and just buy them damn movie boxes right now!

I figure a Dragon Ball Dragon Box release will come out next year, but they are supposed to already have the Z movie masters right?! I must be patient I suppose....
If FUNimation releases Dragon Box: The Movies I sincerely would wish they'd feature the Ocean cast so I'd have the best of Japanese and English, but more than likely, it won't happen. :(
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray

Shame that Kaiouken was just forgotten about, and Goku ended up being the only one to ever use it...
Chichi knows it. :P

Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.

Lmao, I wish I had a girl that feisty. But on a serious note, I don't think people forgot about the Kaio-Ken, more like Toriyama forgot about it. I mean, Goku doesn't really need to use it, since he mastered Super Saiyan, which means less stress on the body, why add something that does? Even though it would mean a large power boost, that would also mean he better settle things then and there or else he's just going to damage himself for the rest of the fight. Why didn't Tenshinhan or even Yamucha learn the technique is my biggest issue.

Seriously. Back in 1997-1998, the first Dragon Ball related thing I ever saw was Tree of Might and The Worlds Strongest, Ocean dub of course. I remember renting them from some little local video store, only because it was a cartoon and looked cool.

I actually really like Peter Kelamis as Goku.

Gotta go with movie 2, that fucking flawless animation adds that extra oomf to the Kaioken.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the Kaiouken in DBZ Movie #2. The part when he uses it to break out of the ice, tanks Ebifurya's blast, and effortlessly OHKOs Kishime and Ebifurya is my third favourite Kaiouken scene. And that scream is just brilliant too, both in Japanese and Ocean.

All of the Kaioken scenes are perfect to me, but the Kaioken scene on Namek when Goku was showing off his power to Ginyu was plain awesome.
Especially when you realize he was only in base Kaioken. The best version of this scene was in Kai with the Yamamoto music.

Yeah but some things are too good to be real.

In my opinion, that was one of the worst things in Kai. Failing the kamehameha despairingly with peaceful and calm music was terrible to me.
Calm music? It starts calm, but gets more explosive later. I think it had calm music with the Kikuchi score though.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

I was talking about how it turns and ends. In Z, Goku gets out of the water and charges his power with calm and powerful music, and it switches to a tensive piece after firing the Kamehameha, then it fails and Goku curses with desperate battle music playing. On the other hand, in Kai (the Yamamoto version), the music still feels like Goku is winning when Freeza blocks the Kamehameha, and it gets calm sounding again even though it fails in vain, which feels really odd to me. The music does not depict how things turn good to worse because of the unthinking music placement.

In the second DBZ movie when Son is frozen, especially the Ocean DVD dub.

And that scene again in the AB Groupe Big Green dub. KAMEYAMEYA!

I pretty much like 'em all equally, although I agree with Kei on the Yamamoto Kenji stuff being really lackluster.

I love how the Twenty-Times Kaiou-Ken in Dragon Ball Z brings back a Red Ribbon Army arc music piece, that entire arc was really good about mixing and match music from different arcs. Over all, though, I think I like the movie #2 Kaiou-Ken scenes the most. Very epic set-ups, performances, and execution.

The Kaio-ken x20 in the anime beats them all IMO.
But then, it could be different if I had watched the anime in order also (that one being the first I saw).
In the manga, Goku's Kaio-ken x3 is my favorite.

I also think that the Kaio-ken is a much cooler power up than the Super Saiya-jin (except for Gohan's SSJ2 in the Cell Games, which IMO was the coolest SSJ transformation of all time. Of all time!).
