Favourite Kamehameha scene
Which Kamehameha scene do you think was the best in the series? I've always liked Muten Roushi's Kamehameha at the 21st Tenkaichi Budoukai, since the build-up was great, the blast itself was spectacular, and it really fooled you into believing that he'd wiped out Gokuu.

Probably the very first. Roshi becoming massive like that came out of fucking nowhere. I'm sure it blew the minds of the japanese kids who read it for the first time.
Goku's x20 vs Freeza and Goku's x4 vs Vegeta come in 2nd and 3rd for me.

Not sure which one of those I liked the most. But favorites are Muten Roshi's first one, Goku vs Vegeta clash, and Gohan vs Cell clash.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Hmm....
Both of Gohan's Kamehameha's against Cell (especially the final one), Gohan's really pissed off Kamehameha against Boo's outer shell, Gokuu using one to launch himself towards Tenshinhan, and finally the Kamehameha at Vegeta in the Saiyan Saga. All of which are so good I couldn't pick one.

Goku's first one vs old Piccolo Daimao - beautiful scene of Goku's blast hitting Daimao's body; and the first massive Kamehameha vs Piccolo Jr. at the 23rd Budokai.

In canon? Goku's beam duel with Vegeta in the Saiyan arc.
Otherwise, in movie 5, when Coola flew right through it, came up at the source and punched Goku.
Kamehame-ouch.

I like the battle between Goku,Gohan,Goten. vs Broly and Goku is telling Gohan to concentrate on his power and telling Goten to look past his fear. great stuff.
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

I'd have to say Cell's first Kamehame-Ha against Son Gohan. Wakamoto Norio's performance was incredible in Dragon Ball Z and the comic has some great art.

Re: Favourite Kamehameha scene
I think it hands down has to go to Goku's Kaiō-Ken x4 powered Kamehameha taking on Vegeta's Gyarik-ho to save the Earth in chapter 231. Not only was it beautifully drawn in the manga, it was gorgeously animated in the TV series. But then my close second would go to Goku using a 20-Fold Kaiō-Ken powered Kamehameha against Freeza in chapter 313. The passion behind Nozawa's delivery in this scene is just chilling, and you really feel the spirit of Goku's determination during the struggle. They're both just so good!

The one thing that are great in the Anime version of those are the intense shades of red and blue that just light up the screen. Makes me wish that Kaio-ken didn't become obsolete.Hujio wrote:I think it hands down has to go to Goku's Kaiō-Ken x4 powered Kamehameha taking on Vegeta's Gyarik-ho to save the Earth in chapter 231. Goku's kamehameha against Dr. Uiro in movie 2. So intense.
Re: Favourite Kamehameha scene
Yup, pretty much my pick right here. The first Kamehameha will always be my favorite, not only because of the "Whoa! That Old geezer can do that!?" but because I love the sequential art on those particular pages. One of Toriyama's best.dprez wrote:Probably the very first. Re: Favourite Kamehameha scene
Either the Shunkan-Ido Kamehameha or the Kamehameha-Galick Gun struggle. Both were excellent scenes to me.
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

Re: Favourite Kamehameha scene
Goku's double Kamehameha against Freeza, hands down:

There were so many to choose from, but I decided on this one since it was used in a more strategic manner, rather than just a head on blast (the foot Kamehameha doesn't count since I haven't seen it.

Super Kamehameha against Piccolo at the 23rd. No one had any idea that a "Super Kamehameha" existed. Then there's the one against Vegeta on earth.

Re: Favourite Kamehameha scene
Shunkun Ido Kamehame-Ha! by Son Goku is my favorite bam! right in your face surprise attack for Perfect Cell.
Re: Favourite Kamehameha scene
Most definitely this.I think it hands down has to go to Goku's Kaiō-Ken x4 powered Kamehameha taking on Vegeta's Gyarik-ho to save the Earth in chapter 231.

It was the first great struggle clash. Vegeta was desperate. Goku was desperate. Everyone was going all out without caring about the consequences. That last scream "KAIOKEN x4!" simply left me in awe.
Second place is a tie between x20 Kaio-ken Kamehameha vs Frieza and IT Kamehameha.

Re: Favourite Kamehameha scene
My favorite would have to be in the anniversary movie when Goku observed Muten Roshi preforming the technique, and then did it himself. That made me smile real big.
My 2nd favorite would easily be the struggle between Goku's Kamehameha and Beget's Galick Gun during their first fight. Truly epic!
